For anyone who wasn't around at the time, Shepherd's betrayal in the Loose Ends mission was such a big deal that TH-cam and forums were flooded with videos and posts analyzing that scene frame by frame, coming up with theories and coping to ourselves about how there might be a chance that Ghost and Roach could have survived based on where their bullet wounds were and how a 3rd person camera mod showed only the dirt around them burning and all kinds of crazy stuff. It was a twist so good that people refused to believe it for years.
I think another reason why Shepherd sent Task Force 141 on their suicide missions was because Price’s presence immediately disrupted his command. Price was naturally untrusting of Shepherd and was set upon doing his own thing. Knowing that the rest of the Task Force would support Captain Price no matter what he was probably forced to conclude that the Task Force was now a liability to his plans and had to be dealt with

General Shepherd reminds me of General Francis X. Hummel (Ed Harris) in the movie "The Rock (1996)", and also, when Nicholas Cage lights up the green flares in the end of the movie, highlights where the COD producers got their inspiration from :)!

8:48 he says " The loose ends were, Roach and Soap". Not Roach & Ghost. Then Continues to go on about playing as Soap in the rest of the campaign of the game
