I watched your play through from the last of us and now watching this series and I gotta say the amount of empathy you show with these fictional characters gives me hope and it’s really inspiring!
Chuck’s opening line has a meaning. “When someone dies the world grows still. For all life is precious”. And it’s subtle foreshadowing to the final decision up in the bell tower
I made Kenny shoot the kid I'm attic because I didn't want him to feel like he was becoming weak or was helpless. Kenny's whole thing was he is the guys who gonna protect his family and do what has to be done to protect the group even if it's hard but now he has no family and he struggled with shooting Duck and most of us chose to shoot duck for him. So now that it's not his own son I let him take care of the boy in the attic so he feels like he can still help people and be useful. And help a kid in need. Idk if I explained that correctly but yeah
Just had to put this separately instead of editing... Cause it's its own thing Ben's mistakes: 1. Stealing supplies for the bandits. This choice got Duck and Katjaa killed. 2. Lying about it. This choice got Doug/Carly killed and Lilly kicked out/leaving the group. 3. Abandoning Clementine. This choice got Chuck killed. 4. Taking the hatchet from the door. This choice lets the walkers in and determinately causes you to lose Molly. 5. Confesses the truth to Kenny. This choice starts a fight which results in Brie dying. People dead because of Ben: 5
To Be Fair While Ben Has Many Screw Ups Ben's Usefulness - Being The First and Only One To Tell The Group About The Truth About The Infection - Helps The Group With Supplies By Carrying A SINGLE BOX - Volunteering To Be On Watch Duty - If You Kept Lilly After She Murders Doug Or Carley, Ben Is The One Guarding Her - Watching Katjaa, Duck and Clementine While Lee and Kenny Fix The Train - When Kenny Is In The Attic With The Walker Kid, Ben Quickly Warns Lee ( This Is Important Because There's A Chance That Kenny Would Have Commited Suicide If Lee Didn't Go Up In The Attic) - When Lee Grabs Ben's Hand From Falling Down The Belltower, Ben Tells Lee To Let Him Go And Get The Group To Safety - If You Saved Ben, He's The Only One Willing To Go With Lee To Find Clem No Matter What, With Christa You Have To Show The Bite Or Leave Clem With Omid And While Omid Tries To Go With Lee, He Can't Do Anything Because His Vote Will Always Be With Christa And Kenny Will Only Go With Lee If He Has A Good Friendship With Him Or You Say "Clementine Is My Family" But Ben Is The Only One Willing To Go With Lee Even If Lee Treated Him Bad - If Only Ben Comes With You, If You Don't Make The Jump Across The Bell Tower, Ben Will Quickly Grab Lee and Pull Him Up - Finally Standing Up To Kenny Which Causes The Group Which Causes The Group To Remember Ben Is Still A Kid That's Just Trying To Help - Helps The Group Secure The House From Walkers - Helps Group Kill The Walkers With His Gun - Quickly Manages To Grab Lee's Gun Before It's Lost In A Horde Of Walkers
Fun Fact: Purple is Clementine's favorite color Edit: If you leave Clem alone in the house, a walker gets in and Clem takes care of it. If you leave her w ith a gun, she shoots it. If you leave her without a gun, she shoves it in the closet and Lee shoots it.
I’m pretty sure that Vernon’s outburst was entirely about your lie about Clementine. He was still out of line to claim that you don’t care about your people.
Yeah she lied that Lee is the father when he’s not, that’s what caused Vernon to lash out but the part saying Don’t care about his people, made no sense at all
LeMmE TeLL yOu sOmEthin!? real glad you saved Ben! hes definitely stupid but is trying to make it up for what he did to the group. Also the outcome with Ben is much better than without him. Next episode is gonna be great!
As much as I disliked Ben, which was a lot, I do agree that the ending with him and kenny is better than the one with kenny and Christa as it really gave kenny some serious character development.
“Do I look like a liability to you?” -guy who got three people killed in a day and left a little girl to die, and would later get another woman killed later that day
What an episode hahaha that was fun for sure. You made similar choices to me especially regarding the friendship between Lee and Kenny, and also saving Ben. Looking forward to seeing episode 5
The little detail Ben said about that he made a deal with the bandits to "keep them off" they're backs, which is why they we're able to live long in the motor inn because if not they would have been killed a long time ago, the lady in the woods was doing the same thing but she died and Ben like mostly step up and did the same thing. I don't hate Ben I just feel bad that this kid has to go through all of that and he did it with good intentions it did led to tragedy, he was having guilt over it rather than keeping it to himself and forget about it which is horrible to do, so I don't hate Ben.
Didn't finish the video yet but I noticed there's a part of the video missing, at 37:46. Not sure what happen, I hope I didn't missed too much tho. (P.S: I started to watch your playthrough by nostalgia since I didn't watched this game in years and I love it! Can't wait to watch the rest of the playlist!)
If you look at the big picture. Ben prevented the bandits from attacking for 3 days by trading the medicine for their protection. Also if you choose to trust Ben in the previous episode he proves to be quite useful finding a snack for Clementine and ammo for Kenny. So the only way that you can dislike him is if you distrust him which he responds to that by being useless to you but he helps everyone else.
Love how the end of episode 3 and most have episode 4 have been leading up to the Ben choice. I think Telltale were looking to see how players would react to chance to be free of an essentially useless character responsible for the deaths of at least 3 others. I saved him but was very close to letting him go cos the writers did such a good job of making me hate him. When given the choice I couldn’t just drop him.
With the dumpster thing, Lee's body would probably be too much for it since most lids are made of a type of plastic to make them easier to lift. That's my thought process at least
Travelling on water around to where you need to get to forage supplies would be much safer than traveling in the land you need to get to. Its about separation. Boat is an extremely good idea. doesnt even take into account that you have to live on an island or have some remote base. It can just be about getting around in a lot safer of a method. Instead of roads you use the water. Makes sense to me. And if you can find some remote island house with water around it thats somewhat close to mainland so you can go "shopping" even better. Defending it would be easier etc etc etc. Not like you're stuck out in the water if you go out there. Instead of using fuel for cars use it for boats. Be easier to defend against human enemies too. You'd hear any boats coming within distance and could set up water alarm systems for swimmers something that makes noise. doesnt have to be fancy. having a boat would be extremely beneficial. You didn't seem convinced so thought heres an argument but now i realize this is a year old lol.
I do like ben, yes he did all of that but the bandits tricked him and it wasn't fully his fault, a bit annoying leaving clem but he was such a nice guy
I think some human names work for pets. Some are weird though. My cat is named Holiday and I call him Holly Edit: I have a love-hate relationship with Ben. I like the kid, and feel bad for him, but I get annoyed at all the shit he pulls. I just remind myself that 1. He's young ... 2. It's only been a few months since the outbreak (3-4) so everyone is still learning shit ... 3. He's a human, humans make mistakes Edit 2: Also, if you didn't figure it out, Oberson was the walker hanging from the bell. I'm guessing he committed s*icide when Crawford fell. Edit 3: If you're interested, Molly's sister was 14 and was diabetic. When they found out, they took her away. And then Molly left Crawford.
hated ben sm when I first played this, but i was also like, 10. (Yeah, whoops, there's a lotta gore and maybe I shouldn't have, but oh well). Now that I'm older I can appreciate that he was just young and make a stupid mistake.
When I first watched a playthrough, I was angry with Ben for leaving Clem as well but, since rewatching this, i realized that he didn't even have a weapon, so what was he supposed to do in that situation? I guess he could have picked her up, but who knows if he was even strong enough to do that, and run while avoiding getting grabbed. Running while carrying a person that's not an actual baby isn't as easy as it looks in vidya games 😂.
I'm just now realizing, the end-of-episode stats don't make any sense. Omid and Christa will come with you if you show your bite, which 80% of players did, which means that on the "who came with you?" stats, all groups that don't contain Omid and Christa should add together to less than 20%, but they don't.
1:46:37 “Damn girl, that’s cold.” That’s one of my favorite lines in the entire game. 😄 I despised Ben. Wish there were more ways to kill his character off. I would’ve gone back and done them all.
2:27:07 see I don’t agree with that he’s a “piece of shit” comment. Yes Ben was a huge screw up, he put the group in danger multiple times but NONE of what he did was done with malice or negative intentions. He did everything he could to help the group but was useless and kept making mistakes. I don’t feel its fair for anyone to refer to him as a piece of shit but hey maybe you changed your view of him by now. It’s cool
"tell me do you like Ben?" Hmm, i don't know, do I like the guy who betrayed the group? The betrayel that led to Lilly going off the rails and killing Carly? The guy, who fled and left Clem to be killed by walker if it wasn't for Chuck? Do I like Ben with the annoying face and voice? .... sure, let's say i "like" him :D edit: I'm so disappointed... you saved him xD
Yeah I think I dropped Ben in my original playthrough, sorry I know it's wrong, but he was a detriment to the group. When he failed to even try to help Clementine, that's when I too lost all respect for Ben.
