      yeah in fact this is the first time I heard him speak, had previously only watched his bowling. He seemed so level headed and a bit modest too. Same goes for Harsha, kept it simple, none of that over the top manner of asking questions that we see too often these days.

    BCCI has a hard on for 120 kph bowlers. The moment anyone starts bowling faster than that, they Will send them to MRF pace academy and reduce their pace and then make them extinct.

    • @MrLee-gj2jz
      @MrLee-gj2jz 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +60

      You hit the nail on the head. MRF "anti-pace" foundation exists only to remove pace from potential Indian express pace bowlers.

      But why did they do that ☹️
      I'm 1990s kid, but I've watched cricket, especially more remembrances since 2001 or so. Kindly reply the reason for your say ☹️🙄😊

    • @MrLee-gj2jz
      @MrLee-gj2jz 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SingNostalgiaWithAmogh it is based on my observations of team selection for the past three decades. Every fast bowler who has the potential to bowl express pace got sidelined. One of the reasons given was that bowling too fast increases injuries. In those days, knowledge of biomechanics and sports medicine was zero. So bowling 120 kmph was the safe bet to prolong career. An injured player was on his own with no support. Australians understood in the mid 1980s, that India's main weakness was lack of fast bowlers. Australians know that when there are express pace bowlers in the domestic Indian tournaments, then the batsmen also develop the ability to negotiate such bowling. The absence of such tearaways means that batsmen will rack up impressive domestic stats only to end up looking silly on SENA tours. There are countless examples of such Indian batsmen. This is what Australians want. To maintain their dominance. Hence they appointed an Australian Dennis Lillee to head the MRF. That man used the insecurities of Indian fast bowlers, i.e., injuries, lack of sports medicine support etc to brainwash promising Indian bowlers to take the safe route and stay at 120 kmph. Interestingly, the current crop of Indian fast bowlers who regularly bowl 145+ have never associated with the MRF pace academy.

    For those who didn't grow up in the 90s wouldn't ever know what a legendary bowler David Johnson was. His pace was lethal and even established batsmen were scared to face his bowling. I remember reading in the newspaper how the Australian team was concerned about having to face his bowling before touring India. Those were the days...I wonder why India couldn't produce another like him. Truly 1 in a billion he was.

      Legendary? Naa man, an international career of just 2 matches and 3 wickets, okay luck may be hard at that level. But also check his first class stats with just 39 first class games for 125 odd wickets…
      Anyways, extremely sad to know about him passing away at just 52.
      Being a 90s kid, had seen all 3 games that he played. Infact he was also taken to Toronto for Sahara Cup, that’s when I read about him in Sportstar. They couldn’t play him though, no place in 11.

      SHARE THIS TO ALL ✌️👌☺️😊
      All those who blindly demean Sachin and blindly say Ponting or any other to be better than Sachin in knockouts and overall consistency.... 😊
      Sachin has scored well in 1996SEMIS CT1998QF CT2000FINAL 2003SEMIS 2011QF 2011SEMIS. Show me if Ponting or other player has scored atleast 50 runs in 6 different icc knockouts, and more importantly Sachin has done this alongwith scoring consistently till SEMIS of 3 different ODI WCs of 1996 2003 and even 2011 🙄😊
      By the way, no player ever has consistently performed well and made team win individually by his own efforts in every single match including Final of ODI WC, even GILLY PONTING etc. haven't performed in every game of any WC consistently from 1st match till Final. So, better understand that other players in team MUST perform with atleast half consistency in most games in WC, which real culprits like 1996 Azhar Prabhakar Kambli Manjrekar, 1999 Azhar Mongia etc. and 2003 Dravid Yuvi Kaif Ganguly DineshMongia etc. never showed ever in any WC. 🙄☹️
      Same applies when Kohli alone (or any other consistent runscorer) is targeted instead of other real culprits 🙄
      And if you're so desperate for comparison, then compare same era players only with same peak year phases, unlike Sachin peak years from 1991 to 1998 & Mcgrath peak years from 1999 to 2007. Recall how Sachin has treated Mcgrath in WC1996 game, that's his original evergreen form, which was never there post his last peak year of 1998 ☺️
      Polite like-minded evidence based replies welcome.
      Rest all ignored 👋

    Unfortunately, youtube had 1 or 2 videos of him bowling.
    He was peaking around the 95-96 season for Karnataka in Ranji trophy and later drafted into the Indian team. He was fast and had a good rhythm. I personally loved his bowling action and wished he was given few more opportunities, especially in SENA countries. He was still raw and allowed few more matches to mature. Maybe on the personal front, he drifted away and lost it all.
    Rest in peace! David Jude Johnson

    What little I saw I enjoyed: India had many players in those days with tremendous potential that were "ephemeral embers" : they appeared and impressed and vanished. I have said it time and again: Had IPL existed then many such players might have been celebrated. Johnson impressed me; hopefully people like Harshal & Ashdeep, Bishnoi, Sandeep Sharma et al., will successfully play Tests, doing what Johnson could not. Condolences from Australia.

    Rest in peace. A confident self believing simple man, who didn't have anything to do or give to the politics of Indian cricket and selection process. A true talent that couldn't be utilized by the country to its potential. ❤

    Indian cricket appears to be reverting to a period where selectors and management favor a specific group of players, consistently retaining them while sidelining numerous talented individuals. Fresh faces are occasionally given opportunities, only to be quickly replaced by the favored ones after a match or two. In the 1990s, the BCCI had a preferred XI, a trend that gradually shifted towards the late 1990s and into the 2000s. However, this pattern seems to be re-emerging now. The influence of politics in sports is becoming increasingly apparent.

    Rattled the great Ricky Ponting for pace on an Indian wicket! How many fast bowlers can say that?
    Every cricket game I bought on PS2/PS3/PC I would first go create a bowler called “David Johnson” with pace metric set to FULL, Then I would open with this bowler. I don’t know how much he was clocking on the speed gun for a while there he just made those rare Indian express bowling enthusiasts in the 90’s very excited. God speed my friend.

    [ EDIT :
    Why is it that most of the mortal's VALUE is realised ONLY after the mortal leaves this ugliest material world ??? ☹️🙄
    I think, this is just ONE of the painful questions I'll angrily ask God (whenever I'll be called upon to leave when time comes) and demand justified honest answer from him, to give justice to every mortal who has tremendously suffered emotionally or by any means, anytime in life due to this ugly treacherous emotionless world 🙄🙄☹️☹️☹️ ]
    I'm 1990s kid.
    However I can't clearly recall that I've watched cricket those times, maybe some Sharjah matches or so, but cannot recall by myself as I was too small then ☹️😊
    I've never watched David Johnson play, only came across his info and images via BGT Test info I was checking some months ago. In these highlights, his endless long runup and superb action & pace clearly reminds me of Shoaib Akhtar, as most people have mentioned in messages here. Really unfortunate that he hasn't flourished or made comeback in overall formats 🙄☹️
