However, a large study found they could make 40-50% more 109s in the same amount of time. The Reggiano was also great.
@@jayklink851 yeah i know, in the beginning of war we only had the famous Cr.42/41/40 that made a perfect job in the Spanish civil war, but they weren't competitive with the spitfire for example or other anglo-american planes, sadly we weren't ready for a large-scale war, the production of G.55 or Re.2002/5 or Macchi came later and in small number.
I started the game with Italy because they had 47mm gums on the reserve vehicles. I think it made me better in the long run, because I kicked some serious booty when I switched to other countries.
Yeah man its a really good vechicle. I usually take advantage of its armour and mobility. The gun is great as well Killed a kv1 front on while bouncing its shells
actually the only bad thing in the P40 to me is the reverse speed... for the rest i think it's one of the most versatile vehicles in game. Not a beast, but not bad either... 100mm of pen is enough to deal with most 3.3 stuff and the fact it is a HEAT also can make the tank also a possible good sniper. (also fun fact: for some reasons parts of the armor on the back of the turret have more than 100mm of protection)
That odd back of the turret armor saved me on at least one occasion. Player flanked me and while I saw him, I didn't have time to react. He shot dead in the back of the turret but it didn't penetrate. I started to drive to cover and he engine shot me and right as he was gonna knock out my tank a teammate saved the day. I was like "how the fuck did that not kill me?" so I checked and found out the back of the turret has a strangely heavily armored area lol. What rotten luck for that guy too.
fun fact: in Italian pepperoni just means peppers, while Salcissia is what means pepperoni, but if you try to translate it you will only get sausages which is anticlimactic.

The P40 would be perfectly serviceable at 3.3 IF THEY FIXED THE BLOOMIN' HEAT ROUNDS! Seriously, I'd sooner take the Pz III N into a 4.3 match than use this thing for how effective its HEAT is. C'mon, Gaijin. If you're gonna claim that it can penetrate 100mm of flat surface, then let it do so!
odd forgot one of the best parts about the p40. the fact that the storage box on the back of the turret is over 100mm of armor. if you dont believe me do a protection analysis with the sherman's 75mm filler shell and try to pen the storage box. You'll be surprised.
in my experiance the P40 at 3.3 was a pretty good experiance, its a pretty good middle of the road medium tank, from my experiance it has better armor than the PzIV, but then the PzIV has more firepower.
"The P40 is a crappy tank." is a really weird way of saying that the tracks, driver hatches viewports, MG ports and turret face on the T-34 should finally be fixed and stop eating 100mm pen rounds.

I personally love the P40 due to the fact that for some reason i always bounce shells when i probally shouldent, then again i wish it had better rounds but you get what you get and, you dont throw a fit.
Before volumetric shells were a thing (or burden), I had a marvelous time thumping things, primarily M 24s/side shots, with the massive TNT filler. Sharty tank, I know, but before the dreaded VS, its heat could take out most tanks via frontal shots.
i get that "mouse look lock" to in planes. specifically when the camera is looking towards the front of the plane, theres a column of "screen space" that it likes to snap the camera into directly in front of the plane. up and down doesn't lock like this, just side to side. and it also only does this in front of the plane, everywhere else it goes smoothly, even directly behind the plane.
the p26/40 is the only tank I have ACED. I do not pay for premium and I have played so many games as this tank. it is by far my fav. Its such a great tank. No one knows where to shoot so half the time they aim at the driver hatch etc. I average like 5-7 kills a life.
You know just how skilled Odd is at this game when he can make one of the worst machines in WT just work. When I was grinding and spading the 3.3 Spagetts, I got like 1 kill every 5 matches at best with this.

The 3.3 italian casemate td has the same gun as the P40 but with 100mm of frontal armor and 75mm on the sides so it can really be fun bouncing and nonpenning things with it,
I’m probably in the minority but I quite enjoy this thing and the Swedish IKV event vehicle at 3.0, but every seems to hate them. This thing works wonders with the HEAT and it’s got surprisingly trolly armor
In case no one has mentioned it to you, and you manage to see and read this comment, and you have not figured it out already, that feeling of your mouse being locked in place and having to move it an unordinary amount before it responds is a deadzone type setting because of the way the mouse is implemented in war thunder, I believe. I could be wrong but it could also be compared to a setting on a joystick that prevents it from being overly sensitive to small amounts of movement.
Newsflash: caps on shells have been bugged for years. Go compare the MD-5\MD-8 effectiveness versus shells with caps. The MD's require a lot less total penetration to go through angles without having a cap while shells with caps like the 75 on the Panzer4's require a lot more total penetration. It's beyond fucked.
I agree on the BR change. I absolutely love this Italian tank, however, it doesn't deserve to be at 3.3. Sure, you get your good matches, but damn, you working them fettuccine streets.
I genuinely think it's okay at 3.3. Now, when you compare it to other 3.3 tanks it really might deserve to be at 3.0 instead, but it does okay at 3.3. I've done well with it and I've seen a lot of people do well with it. It's APHE doesn't have a lot of penetration but enough to be useful which is why unlike Odd I carry a 50/50 shell load of HEAT and APHE. Or slightly more if it's an uptier or downtier. The APHE also got overpressure at some point and if it pens just one shots the tank automatically which almost seems like a bug. Even if they remove that though, the APHE is more than lethal enough for one shots most of the time. Then the HEAT is good vs. Shermans, SU-122's, T-34's and Churchills but it definitely can be a pain at times due to volumetric snagging it on stuff. I had a 12 kill match with it and I think I average 3 or 4 kills per death in it so I do think it's pretty good. It's not as good as a Panzer IV G in my eyes as that thing has okay hull armor and a much better gun, but at 3.3 it can do well. By the way the Panzer IV G is 3.3 now too which I think it was 3.7 when you posted your comment. It definitely can be hard to kill and does have just enough to do most jobs. A bit like a Sherman but worse in a lot of ways. The Panzer IV's, T-34's and Shermans and Cromwell are all better for 3.3 tanks yet the P-40 can hold it's own with them. Now why in the fuck the Chi-Nu is at 3.3 is another question that I legitimately want to ask because it's worse than the P-40 even by a fair margin yet is at 3.3. Minor nations get treated so badly.

Consider that "light tanks" to them are the Carro Veloce tankettes like the L3 and everything bigger is "medium" I guess anything bigger than their medium becomes a heavy to them. It's all relative.
@@Arthion the CV tankettes were not so bad actually, consider they were made before the war. I think the designation of the P40 as a heavy it’s more for tactics and possibly propaganda. The early Italian armoured doctrine never mentioned light tanks, it used mediums to support cavalry units and heavies as a main assault force, but Italy only had light tanks a the time, mainly FIAT 3000 and l33/l35 tankettes

Anyhow was mostly just focusing to the fact that when what to everybody else is a light is your "medium" what everybody else calls a medium would probably become "heavy" by that logic. Not too strange if you think about it. As for doctrines and tactics I know diddly-squat about that. Just doesn't seem illogical to call the P40 as such if you think about it relative to other Italian armored vehicles.

Remember that the Italians had access to German tanks, even if in small numbers, they knew the P40 wasn’t much more than a panzer III. And propaganda is probably involved too.
@@albero319 Well, to put it mildy, Italian industry and tank development in general was a damn mess. Anything newly designed arrived almost 2 yrs too late for the point in the war and situation it was designed for. Plus they never seemed to really make up their darn minds wether to go all in on local development or focus on license production. Like the Celere Sahariano being only done by the point they've already lost Africa.
Because some people don't research the the HEAT first. The original shell is trash as the APHE shell hates slopes and only 57mm pen which can't kill Heavies and even pen some medium frontally. The HEAT is good as it can pen UFP of T34 and Shermans.
Unpopular opinion: p40 is actually a fairly good 3.3 tank, unlike the panzer 4 f2 the gun struggles at taking out kv1s and t34s but it has no problem with Shermans, also the armor is actually really good, even at close range the American 75 really struggles at penning it's armour when you angle correctly, and in a hull down position this thing is awesome because of its double plate on the mantlet. This is just my opinion but believe me, when I'm against America, I always do well in it
For me, it's the most versatile tank in Italian low-tier tree. And I quite hate PzIIIN, it needs HEAT to be a little better. All and all, I don't know why I did better with Italian not with Brit, French, and USSR. Maybe my brain built different *All you gotta do to be good at Italian is play passively, don't be the first one to enter the risky area, angle your armour, run away when you know you can’t fight, switch side in both world war

Italian tank tree is not bad. I actually found to easier to play the first and second tier than the British tree.

P-40 is always a concern, as an opponent, because those that use them tend to be specialists. For me, it's just a mediocre Pz III.

the P40 has a second 48mm plate behind the mantlet that makes it quite good. Its a really decent support tank

Little clarification coming from an Italian: pepperoni doesn't exist (in italian), only peperoni exist. Peperoni means peppers, salsiccia sausage.

Whenever I see these things in battle they always take a ton of shots because the majority of the playerbase have never successfully penetrated one.

I've always had a good time in the p-40 using heat
I generally prefer to use the APHE, bringing 12 heat shells just in case. That tank is ridiculous.

You should use the APHE shell by default as it's much better and you only need the higher pen of the HEAT for KV1s.

The Heat shell is good, but APHE with 268g of TNT and better pen seems more useful with this tank

Consider that "light tanks" to them are the Carro Veloce tankettes like the L3 and everything bigger is "medium" I guess anything bigger than their medium becomes a heavy to them. It's all relative.

I think the designation of the P40 as a heavy it’s more for tactics and possibly propaganda. The early Italian armoured doctrine never mentioned light tanks, it used mediums to support cavalry units and heavies as a main assault force, but Italy only had light tanks a the time, mainly FIAT 3000 and l33/l35 tankettes
@@albero319 Said nothing about them being bad, just not up to the task at the time of the war. Anyhow was mostly just focusing to the fact that when what to everybody else is a light is your "medium" what everybody else calls a medium would probably become "heavy" by that logic. Not too strange if you think about it. As for doctrines and tactics I know diddly-squat about that. Just doesn't seem illogical to call the P40 as such if you think about it relative to other Italian armored vehicles.
@@Arthion yeah the point about Italian tankettes was just because they are really misunderstood by everyone, but you are right, they were awful even for early ww2 standards.
I get your point about everything being relative, but I think it was more about doctrine, as I said. Remember that the Italians had access to German tanks, even if in small numbers, they knew the P40 wasn’t much more than a panzer III. And propaganda is probably involved too.
@@albero319 Well, to put it mildy, Italian industry and tank development in general was a damn mess. Anything newly designed arrived almost 2 yrs too late for the point in the war and situation it was designed for. Plus they never seemed to really make up their darn minds wether to go all in on local development or focus on license production. Like the Celere Sahariano being only done by the point they've already lost Africa.

Because some people don't research the the HEAT first. The original shell is trash as the APHE shell hates slopes and only 57mm pen which can't kill Heavies and even pen some medium frontally.
The HEAT is good as it can pen UFP of T34 and Shermans.

Unpopular opinion: p40 is actually a fairly good 3.3 tank, unlike the panzer 4 f2 the gun struggles at taking out kv1s and t34s but it has no problem with Shermans, also the armor is actually really good, even at close range the American 75 really struggles at penning it's armour when you angle correctly, and in a hull down position this thing is awesome because of its double plate on the mantlet. This is just my opinion but believe me, when I'm against America, I always do well in it

You can oneshot panzers by shooting the cupola with HEAT, triggering the overpressure mechanic
it seems like it's basically a PzIV F1 at the BR of an F2.

My mans P40 deserves better. The Italian Shermans should have their BRs lowered and the P40 should be 2.7 BR.
idk 100mm pen aint bad, nobody shoots for the tracks when your angled and theres another 48mm mantlet under the main mantlet, very solid armor
For me, it's the most versatile tank in Italian low-tier tree. And I quite hate PzIIIN, it needs HEAT to be a little better. All and all, I don't know why I did better with Italian not with Brit, French, and USSR. Maybe my brain built different
*All you gotta do to be good at Italian is play passively, don't be the first one to enter the risky area, angle your armour, run away when you know you can’t fight, switch side in both world war
