One of the saddest episodes was when this huge young star's life was shattered, but she came back with courage, and what I most admire about her, no bitterness. She has devoted her post retirement life to helping others. If anyone deserves happiness, it's Monica, she has brought pleasure to so many.

I actually got emotional when the crowd gave her a standing ovation...because I remember so vividly the match she played against Katerina Maleeva in Germany, when she was stabbed in between games. He didnt try to injur her...he attempted to murder her. And Monica, a very bright woman, knew it. So, when she won another Australian Open after her time away from the game, it was probably one of the more impressive feats in the history of sport. She was an incredible player...
I totally agree. Winning the Australian Open 96 was such an impessive achievement after all she went through. And she was still mentally struggling after her comeback. Nevertheless she reached furher grand slam finals as the US open 95 or the French open 98 and won other tournaments. It was always a big pleasure watching her playing. She's one of a kind and soo charming.

No doubt would of easily won 15-20 grand slams . She was so dominant from 1991- April 1993! Wining 7 of the 8 grand slams she played in. No doubt she would of dominated the tennis tour till around 1998/99!! Still in my opinion the the greatest female tennis player I have seen. A woman who not only changed the game but also a player who IMO was starting to get on top of and beat another all time great and at the peak of her powers Steffi Graf!!! Still like Monica said she did not come back as the same player in August 1995 but she still have a very good career. Her her first half of her career she won 32 titles 8 grand slams and her second half of her career 1 grand slam and 21 titles.
She is the youngest player to get the first rank and stayed the longest period in the first rank after achieving it and her result against her main competitor before the miserable injury was 7-5. Thus her main competitor is not the best player in the history and except for the injury she would has become the best in the history, we always support you because you are the real legend of the tennis history

Did you see her as a 15 and 16 year old? She was adorable. Talked rapidfire like a machine gun, infectious giggle, and like any teenager tried out all the new hairstyles and fashions. There was a touching story that when Teddy Tinling died, who knew and dressed virtually every female tennis player since the 1920s, the 4 front pews at the church funeral service were reserved for all the expected lady players. Chris Evert and Navratilova were speakers, but not a single other female player came, other than Monica, who had won the French Open the week before, and probably had a busier schedule than most of the others. That tells you all you need to know about a really classy lady.

OK, let's face it. There's the Tennis Hall of Fame but there should be a SUPER AWESOME seats of GLORY where only the TOP TOP players get to be inducted. Coach Jelena traveled 180 kilometers every day and trained for free, as she did with Novak Djokovic, who behaves similarly to Monica. How bad and ungrateful these tennis players are!
