      completely agree. i'd rather people assume i'm like all others than advertise i'm carrying an aresnal. my get home bag looks like a normal bag with just the essentials and a level 2 plate in the back with my ccw +2 mags. i just need to get home safe to my main supply not wage war on the streets

      This was great, I been tryin to find out about "bug out bags survival backpacks" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Pansaac Ideological Preeminence - (search on google ) ? It is a good one of a kind product for discovering how to collate your effective bug out plan for survival minus the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my brother in law got excellent success with it.

      I personally liked the bag. But a glock 17, a 223, and a shotgun makes you look your going to start a god damn war. I would take my personal carry gun and whatever other gun I have in my truck, wether it be a shotgun, ar, or a hunting rifle. And my carry gun and extra mags would be on my side or in my pockets. God forbid I get into a shoot out and I have to reload and my mags are on my back

    I live in a suburban area and work in an urban area. I'm guessing people who say it's too visible live in these environments. The bag, outer contents, and hat draw entirely too much attention. Hell, I'm a 2A guy and I'd be calling law enforcement if I see this rig outside of going to the range. Any Karen who sees a gun is calling the cops. Add a long gun and she thinks you're the next mass shooter.
    I have a hiking bag. With a concealed pistol, ammo, light, fire starting, blankets, bug spray, food, tp, socks, undies, water, water purification, first aid, etc, I'm just a guy with a backpack. Maybe I'm a college kid, maybe I'm some dude who can't afford a car. Nothing screams well armed and that's how most of us want it.

    Brother I respect your right to keep and bear, but you're gonna' carry 4 guns (2 Glocks, AR and a 12 gauge) on the walk home? And in your area didn't the cops illegally confiscate weapons from the citizens during Katrina? Might I suggest a lower profile, fewer guns and ammo, and maybe a little more water, radio, fire starter etc. And cash. And socks. Peace.

      Andrew true but walking around with two long guns isn’t going to help. Better to have a pistol with a few extra mags and be able to move quick and quite. After a five mile hike with all that gear stuff is getting dropped anyway. He shouldn’t have one gun, water, food, shelter and all weather gear.
      He gets caught out in heavy rain all his tac cool gear is going to be useless after an hour hike.

      You have probably been indoctrinated by the military one gun is enough (because the bean counters are to cheap to equip you properly and they really don't care about your wellbeing anyway)
      A lot of the more intelligent police agencies issue 2 handguns plus the long guns. SWAT members always have a least 2 guns.
      Massad Ayoob has written countless articles of actual shootings where the good guy needed multiple guns to survive.
      Jim Cirrilo veteran of 17 police shootings frequently carried multiple guns and used them all in a confrontation.
      Pistols work great at close to medium range but loose too much power & accuracy at long range.
      Rifles work great at medium and long ranges but up close hard to maneuver and have plenty of space for the bad guy to grab onto. If working one handed (wounded) how effective are you going to be with a rifle.
      And after a natural disaster animals will be highly agitated. Would you like to face a bear, gator, boar with just a 9mm handgun an AR rifle 5.56? Not me Magnum big bore pistol or shotgun with slugs (mainly because I don't want to be moving through the animal's digestive tract in parts or whole)

    I hope this one works for you my dude. I'm more in the camp of sub 25 lbs bag, 4 mags one pistol. It's my opinion that in a SHTF you've got a good 24-48 hrs before the real desperation sets in and in that window a low profile works better for me. To be fair I don't live where you do and I don't know how open carry is looked at there but that's an awful lot of gear to show on your walk home. For me I find 2 bottles of water, 1 life staw, 3400 cal of food, emergency blanket, army poncho, para-chord, first aid kit, good shoes, extra pair of socks, solar charger for phones etc, some blister bandages, deet, sunscreen, and my M&P are what fit my get home bag best. I'm of the opinion that a non-tactical bag doesn't broadcast to anyone that may be watching where I'm going that I have supplies that they would want for themselves. I'm one man, I can't guard my home 24/7 so I would try to make myself as low profile as possible anytime I leave the house. Defense is always reactionary, so you're always going to start any confrontation at a disadvantage, why invite it in?

    Constructive criticism: Put the folding knife in your pocket. Ditch ALL ammo except for 2-3x G19/G17 mags, and don't put mags on the outside of the bag. Ditch the G17 that's in the bag. Change to a different hi-vis color that's not MAGA red, it draws unnecessary attention to you. Add a spare pair of socks (preferably merino wool). Add food and water. I think you've got the right idea in some aspects, but you've also got a lot of extra weight that you're most likely not going to get value out of carrying.

    I'm not comming at you. Not at all. My feed is loaded with videos like this. In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, that tactical style bag with ammo magazines and handcuffs sticking out the back will make you a target. You can prepare all you want, but if someone wants to ambush you they will likely be successful. My get home bag is literally grey and looks like a laptop bag. I carry too, but mine is concealed on my waist and that's all I need. I have bug spray, bandages, callarie packs, water, a good knife, a paper map, water filtration, fire starting, etc. In my trunk I have a change of clothes, good walking shoes, a non discript hat, and rain protection. Bottom line, our get home bags couldn't be more different. But, to each his own.

    Great video. May I suggest a rechargeable power cell so you can charge while on the move. Chances are if things go south, you won't have ready access to power nor want to spend the time it's going to take to charge a phone. Also I'd exchange some ammo for more food or water. Far more likely you will need to rely on food/water than 150+ rounds.

    I'm a 21 year old man living in Maryland and one of the most well known things about this place is for it's ghetto cites, to that I say it's kinda true especially if you're living in the in large part of the city but I live in a sub urban area which is calm for the most part but one thing I learned growing up is that a block certainly makes a difference. Depending on where you're at and what time it is you do need to keep your guard up. One moment I'm doing lawn work in my peaceful neighbourhood then I walk to the apartment complex behind my neighborhood and I see a bunch of punks talking shit and get into some occasional confrontations which is why I normally avoid walking there. But there's always a chance that I could run into some hostility especially when I go to the store which is in walking distance and like I said depending on the time is which is usually at night time when I run into those creepy pan handlers which I normally don't mind but occasionally I run into a drunk or drugged up creep which is why I usual keep a blade with me when I go off on my own. But in these times when things are higher in demand chances are I'm going to run into more hostility so I've decided to make my own get home bag should things get ugly.

I work about a 40 minute drive away from my home and it would take me about 6 to 8 hours to walk it, unless I take the woods route in which case it would be about 6 hours, either way, I know I am going to get thirsty and as such keep a life straw next to my water bottle in my bag along with a small baggie with single dose packs of tylenol, advil, asprin, benadryl, and imodium. My luck I would be walking and sure enough get sick or sprain an ankle and wish really hard I had some.

  • @TheAcceleratorMagazine
    @TheAcceleratorMagazine 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    (CAUTION: Longer than usual but maybe not as boring....ok, it's as boring as always but does contain at least one good suggestion)
    Greetings Brother LAA, lotta folks have already watched this video but wanted to suggest something to ya about "blowout" emergency medical kits. This is more common in the military but I'm pushing it with all local LE I come in contact with. It's not new in that each person carries a fairly small kit to treat one gunshot wound, his or her own. What I'm bout to suggest isn't new either.
    In most blowout kits there is a CAT tourniquet, of course, something like Quikclot to slow the bleeding and a pressure dressing and usually a nasal route airway. Not sure I can spell the medical term. And a sling type bandage that can be used in several ways. CAT TQ's and Quikclot not cheap and a little bulky. So here is the cheaper but very effective route: Tampons and sanitary napkins. If you haven't heard about it think about it for a bit. Both are designed, actually sole purpose, to soak up blood. When I first started training for EMS in late 80's I noticed some of our our trauma dressings were almost identical to sanitary napkins. The hygiene product actually works better. The tampons, which are sterile, can be inserted into some gunshot wounds and as they expand can help to not only absorb blood but the added pressure can slow or stop the bleeding. I don't know if a company took my suggestion and ran with it but as someone who had terrible nose bleeds as a kid and had to treat em in the ambulance I suggested making a purpose built tampon like item to insert in the nose and upward a bit to treat serious nosebleeds. Now they are available, insert basically like the female version and actually have the string to help in removal and also to let ER docs know it's there. Patients get passed around a lot sometimes and all the patient info sometimes gets lost in the shuffle.
    So in these trying times more than ever go or get home bags are gonna be popular topics for GunTubers, preppers and just regular folks that want to be better prepared.
    Keep up the good work, as I know you will, and hope to see more of you ideas on EDC and EDP (Preparation). I haven't been down the feminine hygiene aisle lately but there might have been a run on them like toilet paper but haven't heard it mentioned. I don't think gun and preparedness folks will hoard em all up so shudn't be a shortage. Unless you come upon a massive accident I package of the tampons and napkins should outlast you. Don't know bout shelf life. Store mine in ziploc baggies or small plastic containers. The more prepared you are the less chance that you will need any gun, ammo or medical supplies. Just leave home without any of your gear and well, most of us have experienced the sudden onset of car crashes you come up on or possibly an officer needing assistance.
    Man, I apologize for comment even longer than usual for me. Stress cranks up the PTSD and mine is off the chart. Wife just told me we have a curfew starting at 8pm. Haven't checked to see if that's just Tennessee or nationwide. Checkpoints will be next. Maybe the President should consider food stamps or card or however it's done nowadays for everyone. The one time check, if it ever comes or if we qualify, will help but we just got home from spending over $300 on groceries for 3 adults and 8yr and 15 month old granddaughters. That should be put into play for the duration since $1200 will be eatin up by us needing to eat. Take DEFCON max level of care. Is that 1 or 5? Don't know if the virus will touch all of us but crime will. Criminals and POS looters are makin their shopping lists now. Shut up rick. Ok.

    Hey man, great video but may i suggests some tips:
    1. As a lot said already you're about to carry a lot of firearms (which is more than fine) but you're going to carry out 2 long guns and in the case youll need to shoot i just dont see how you would be able to hit your tearget.
    Plus you're going to carry a lot of ammo (5 ar mags, at least 4 glock mags, extra 12 guage box) and to me it's just seems excessive.
    2.I suggests to put the ammo on some kind of like a leg pouch be cause if you'll need to change a mag in a firefight of some sort it will be way more difficult to grab one from your back rather then your lag.
    3.Also put on some extra survival oriented things like extra bottle of water and more filling food or an MRE, an external battery, also extra maybe a disposable rain jacket and an emergency blanket for those just in case stiuations.
    Other then that it was a great video and it was fun to watch.
    Cheers, Eitay.
    (Also sorry for any grammar errors, english is no my first language)

    As to the comments "too much ammo " it is only too much when carrying it, if you need it, it's never enough.
    Remember the standard combat load for a individual soldier is 210 rounds for rifle + another 46 if you are "Blessed to have a pistol " + any M203 rounds or hand grenades. And that is × as many soldiers are with you + the heavier weapons. While the threats might be less so is you access to help or heavier weapons. Food for thought, and how many times have you heard of soldiers running low on ammo from actual battles?

    • @kirkchartier7141
      @kirkchartier7141 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@btrswt35 walking foot speed is about 3 miles an hour. So how many times do you think he is going to be doing construction work within 3 miles. People I know travel up to 60 miles for work. That would be 20 hours by foot (straight with no rest). If your vehicle works and the roads are good it could be less than an hour but you wouldn't need it in a backpack. Backpack bags are a grab and go type of thing. And while the average gunfight is less than 21ft and less than 4 seconds. I have never been blessed with being "average" all my SHTF, accidents and situations. Have always been extremely unnormal. And as I get older I become more likely to be a target than when I was 25. So 10lbs of ammo (especially when you believe in the flying ashtray for the pistol ammo) isn't unreasonable.

    • @btrswt35
      @btrswt35 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kirkchartier7141 I actually didn't watch the video again so I may be in error from earlier but I do believe he stated something about being within a hour (maybe two?) walking distance of wherever he went (?). Longer distance, yes a little extra ammo may not be a bad idea.
      But at the same time, that load out is far from being ideal for a 60 mile hike in just about every other way. Also, carrying two pistols (the one on his hip and the one in the bag), a long gun, and the shot gun mentioned, along with ammo for all? All with one bottle of water and a couple of granola bars to keep moving? This bag wasn't set up for long distance, night time movement (glow sticks aren't going to do much for navigation at night and I do not remember if there was a flashlight), or inclement weather.
      I understand the need for self protect but bug out bags are comprises. In this case, I think to many comprises for the sake of ammo were taken. However, if it works for him then great. Everyone has to evaluate their situation and needs and base there equipment off of that.

    • @kirkchartier7141
      @kirkchartier7141 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@btrswt35 agreed that you have to tailor your bag for you. And I stated in another post the things I would have added but more water is important. In the right condition a person can go without water for 3 days (I have fasted without food or water for 3days) but if you are sweating & exerting yourself that window gets extremely small and extremely unforgiving. In South Carolina during BASIC training (Spring-Summer) we had a person 2 companies over die of dehydration and numerous people fall out all the time, they would have hydration formations several times a day where you had to drink a quart of water before you could leave. When deployed to Iraq were were taught combat lifesaver which included giving a intravenous saline bag. But more food and water than he stated is wise too.
      To or from work is a 13 minute walk for me, to my father's house about an hour, to my brother's house 2 hours walk. But the nearest big city is about 20 miles away (where most people do most of their shopping). When still in the Army Reserve travel to Nashville was about 80 miles.
      In the video at one point he said about a days walk from home but about 30minutes to an hour from some place now what he was referring to in that instance I don't know. Nor have I ever been to Louisiana or his general area so I don't know what he is referring to.

Additionally, a SOL Bivvy at the bare minimum for shelter and warmth should be important to have. There are a lot of what-ifs. What if the disaster you find yourself in is not natural? What if it's an EMP? That charger and any other electronics will be useless. Or a naturally occurring CMP? Same thing: electronics will be useless. Think outside of the box.

Use the one set of handcuffs and you have nothing later. Have a bag of zip ties and you will have enough for another encounter and that will be enough. The idea is that you want to restrain them long enough for you to move on.

      Lighters, especially those plastic Bics, can leak (the Butane is under pressure) or break, the flint won't spark if the wheel is wet and it doesn't work for crap in a heavy wind. That makes them less than reliable for a survival situation. The firesteel doesn't have those limitations. Personally I have one of each in my GHB: the lighter is faster if it works, the firesteel is less convenient but virtually 100% reliable. Just my opinion, of course, won't hurt my feelings a bit if you disagree!
