    Honestly, thank you for this video. I'm also exactly 1 year in Germany (came from Ukraine in March 2022), but I follow the route of learning German first, which means Deutschkurs 4 days a week for 4 hours (+ an hour of commute and 2 hours of Hausaufgaben). And I was feeling quite disheartened because I still didn't find a job with my primary specialty (I'm learning for my B2 exam now). So it's nice to see that the struggle is real for all of us Zuwanderers. Love your videos! I see Köln in your Christmas video btw -- the Weinachtsmarkt game is real here for sure.

      Looking into the DAAD program myself but from a below average academic background with almost no experience to speak of. Might have to settle for a situation similar to Erika but also get an Internship as well so I'm not stuck with the part-time job in the long term.

      Been to Germany 7 times and yes the rules will surprise anyone from other parts of Europe. I find it very easy to get contact with Germans in Germany or in Spain, so I always end up drinking schnapps and beer with them :) I find Germany very effective and that it has the biggest selection when it comes to almost anything in Europe. Had no idea about these rules for foreigners living and working there, so thank you for that..! :)

    "sometimes incovenient to use" is a very kind way of putting it...most germans will be far more outspoken about their experience using deutsche bahn. i always have to laugh when people think trains in germany run on time or are efficient. the simple act of buying the right ticket can be ridiculously complicated. and you better plan in some extra time for delays.

    Working as a waiter might be good for a student, but not full time. Freelancing is difficult and you have to earn really a lot of money to be better off than an employee. Why not starting at one of that many german companies where no german is required and you can learing it on the job. (Okay that is a bit contractory). Then you get some experience and skills and if you are a bit older, than you can start freelancing, but first you should go learn something.
    Good advice from an old guy.

    • @m0tucki
      @m0tucki ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not good advice, unfortunately. Not only what you mention is obvious, if you considered what she said (which matches reality in Germany): 'Starting at one of that many german companies where no german is required' is SUPER difficult, due to not so many positions open and many many applicants.
      Even for IT positions as a programmer, I experienced how difficult it is to find a position in the field, without being in Berlin/Munich and not being fluent in german.

      @@miskatonic6210 Es gibt viele Jobs gerade im Büro (was oft wohl besser bezahlt ist als Aushilfe in der Gastronomie) mit vielen tollen Meetings, Telefon- und/oder Videokonferenzen am PC auch gerne auf Englisch, da international.
      Da sind YT Skills sicher nicht verkehrt. Als Muttersprachler Englisch und mit besser werdenden Deutschkenntnissen kann man auch Übersetzen beispielsweise Webseiten in einer Internetagentur, oder was weiß ich. Man kann sich auch mit Kursen (wie Webinaren) und Dienstleistungen für Migrationswillige selbstständig machen und übers Web aus dem Homeoffice im Heimatland arbeiten/anbieten.

For Berlin yes you will need someone to show you around - I visited Berlin one time and did not like it earlier - afterwards I moved there for 10 years it was okay. But it cannot beat far east. Germany is a waste of time for young people. Life is changing everywhere just pick the best at time. Germany is seriously done with the good times.
