As was going out on the lash after the first two rounds and driving back to Belgium after the quarters. You can see also the effect his experience at artistic billiards and 'carambolge' has had.
@@aidiniotisv He did turn snooker professional at a young age, but the club he came/comes from had a strong presence in both billiard forms(both are more popular than snooker here). He has played both billiards forms, and I _suspect_ that's why his touch can be exquisite.
Not to forget Beating Walden where he very nearly suffered from a comeback loss to Ricky …and the greatest comeback of crucible history against Si juahui!! Awesome tournament from the world champ
I also love his positive and enjoyable style of play. Coming from mainland Europe, he certainly is a hero for me too. I must say, however, that sometimes when his play didn't come together, it was almost painful for me. But this year's WSC was marvelous! So happy for him. I wish him all the best for the future and I hope he will continue enjoying his game!
As Belgian and fan of snooker, I follow him since his pro debut. Although his pot is probably the best on the circuit, his safety game has always been poor, and his cue ball control too. But I see he has improved quite a lot his cue ball control in this tournament. But it can still be improved and his safety game by a big margin. Just to tell that I never thought he had the weapons to win this tournament. He's just demonstrated that I was wrong, and with the margin of improvment he still has, lord, he can do some other great results. He's also very close to be world n°1 if he gets nice results this season, he's so close in the rankings. This being said, I wonder if he could become the 1st player to defend his 1st world title. That's a huge challenge. So far, in the Crucible history, only 2 players were close to that by reaching the final the following year : Ken Doherty losing 18-12 to Higgins (1998) and Joe Johnson losing to Steve Davis 18-14 (1987).
Brecel, what a journey. Congrats and well deserved. Love coming back, I'll certainly enjoying coming back and watching this video every once in a while.
Every player he beat was so happy for him (well, maybe not Williams). Remarkable. Any player would be happy to have this compilation from an entire season, not a single tournament. Amazing stuff.
I am so damn happy for Luca! I've been rating him for years and years. This man has always been a special talent and finally - finally he's living up to the expectations and then some. Brilliant player. I was (and still am, of course) absolutely thrilled when he won the Championship. How do you get from "winning your first game in the Crucible" to "beating Williams, Ronnie and Selby" and "becoming World Champion"??? Special.
By beating Williams, Ronnie and Selby, he has beat 14 world titles in that tournament. I compared to all winners at the Crucible and this is a record. If he could be the 1st one to defend his 1st title, that would be something too. I'll keep a close eye at the rankings this season too, as he's so close to n°1 spot.
What a journey....Full of respects Mr Brecel. You deserved it. Most of the pots you ve made were totally unpottable in other circumstances, and thats the beauty of this sport. THANK YOU :)
That cut to the middle pocket, playing away, was one of the best shots Ive ever seen. Such a curious player! Ive been watching him for years and hes never made sny impression at all. Then all of a sudden he's the best player in the world and every bookie's/commentators favourite!
Brilliant, I enjoyed every second of that tournament. Luca thoroughly deserved it. Also I've found my new drinking game with this video. Drink every time a commentator says "what a shot".
Writing another comment as this video popped up again and made me nostalgic. It is not about Luca being victorious but it is about the way he won. Snooker Gods were inside him that day, never seen such insane comebacks and not to mention, the number of exhibition shots he pulled out.
Phenomenal shot compilation, but, watching this back reminded me of how luck favours the brave. Sometimes you just have to admit to fate and say the snooker gods had his name on the trophy from day one.
Luca went full offensive with minimal regard to safety taking on the shots that no other player would... and somehow it worked. A man on a mission and not even Ronnie the great could stand in his way. If Luca continues like that he's gonna wreck so many hopes and dreams. By far the bravest snooker player.
Its great watching pro's they always look so natural, like they were born with a cue in their hands. I never used to think about potting when i was younger but now at 53 ive no idea where to look when im playing a simple shot. it drives me mad, i dont suppose it helps that my left eye has gone lazy and im really right eye dominant but im lucky to pot 3 in a row nowadays. im completely lost.
Phenomenal shots , huges mentality progress . His ride in semi final from state 7:14 was just incredible . Any way , Selby played weake the final match .
Luca will win more world championships, but I think if Ronnie has the desire he will get the 8th, both of them and Jimmy and Alex are the best people to ever wield a cue
I wished he'd win and by G he did and how! You can tell by the more than experienced commentators how intuitively good he is. And what a thoroughly enjoyable snooker player he is. More more more!
I still can't believe this miracle. He could have lost any one of those matches easily if a frame or 2 didn't go his way. And with Si when he was 14-7 down he had to win all his frames and he did. What a miracle.
Ronnie has been my favourite over the years but in my opinion this one tournament performance by Luca equals all of Ronnie's best ever in the game , such an amazing talent young Luca Brecel
Think this run goes down as the best WC victory of all time, pre-Crucible included. Genuinely still can't figure out how he dodged so many bullets. 9-6 up and pulled back to 9-9 first round, slots in a lovely 80+. 11-8 up and dragged back to even by Williams, pulls away with another two 70 odd belters. 6-2 down against Ronnie, then 10-6, and absolutely pulverises the next seven to coast. 14-5 down in the semi, and not only wins but wins without needing a decider. 16-10 to 16-15 in the final against the most imperious destroyer of leads in snooker history. Nerveless century to close it out. And all this not only having never won a game at the Crucible, but being on the receiving end of some of the most bitter and brutal final frames. Just complete sorcery that he pulled this off. Doesn't make sense.
I prefer BIngham's WSC run in 2015, when he won against 4 world championships (Dott, Ronnie, Trump, Murphy) to lift the title. This was one of the most sensational performances I've ever seen, and it wasn't a fluke, Stuart was a better player in every match he played.
@@GTKomissaR Yeah Bingham's run did get a notable mention in my mind. But the fact that he was the better player is why I opted for Brecel. Bingham was rarely in deep water. Brecel managed to pluck himself out of it countless times. Imagine having stuck a score on him immediately after his second session with Ronnie? Anyone would've called it a donation, and with good reason. Never mind Si's green at 14-9.
His only goal initially was just to get through the first round, after that, he was free to play his natural game. And boy did he. I've been touting him as a potential world champ for the 5 or 6yrs and I'm glad he's realised his potential. Just need Jack Lisowski to realise his potential now to really stir the pot and give the likes of Trump something to think about. On the strength of Luca's performance against Ronnie, I don't think it will be long now before Ronnie hangs up his waistcoat.
Thanks, GTK, but please don't only present Luca as a primitive one shot wonder: Luca's much more than that. He's an exceptional natural talent, which has to be appreciated in the full duration and context of a match.
