I dont really care about my bf parents bc he doesnt care about them bc they are horrible. But his grandparents are lovely and they raised him (more than his parents) and he loves them, so they are important to me. All of us speak german, but i have a really different dialect then they have, and while i switch to the "standart" german so they understand what i am saying, they dont😅 and i dont really understand what they are saying most of the time, especially since they are really old, have bad hearing and mumble in their dialect. But it seems like i still made a good impression, bc his grandmother almost "forced" me to be in family pictures and my bf told me she used to not allow his ex girlfriend in the pictures bc she thought the relationships wouldnt last(and she used to tell the girls right in their faces😶), but she thinks i am the one😊 which is like the best compliment i could get from them

I can understand this "impress bf's parents" concept might exist back in 2015. But now? NO! Girl... you dont need to impress them, they need to google how to impress YOU!

Why? Because my children trust my judgement because I'm coming from a place of love. And just to be honest, never a day in my mothering life will I ever attempt to impress someone that is trying to date my child. Period. And if that's the attitude that is coming to my door step, then they can leave my house. That's my opinion.

to at least not hate you? be respectful, polite, and don't complain about them. They will always be there... whether he chooses to stay with you or not. At the age of 14, I wouldn't take this too personal. You're both young... anything is possible.
Be respectful. Address him. If he engages in conversation, then go for it. If not, then it's totally cool, at least you paid your respects to the man of the house. Can't go wrong with that.

Bring it up first! “I know we had a bad breakup a couple years ago but things are different and….” If you address it head on then it leaves zero room to feel shame, fear, or awkwardness.

So ask yourself, “is it worth it”? When relationships get serious, it’s true that people change but it should be a desire to change “for the better”. If you feel like you have to change for others and it’s not giving you peace then it’s not gonna be good moving forward. Don’t knock the red flags when you see them waving!
