Hi Shirley I’m originally from Browns Arm about ten minutes from Lewisporte . Thank you for your kind words about my hometown , as a kid growing up here we often take it for granted having a good life and beautiful people around us . Hearing this story makes me want to move back home .
THANK YOU Shirley Brooks-Jones for all you do for Newfoundland in words and deeds. You are so very wonderful. I'm a Newfie and it's just what we do for people in need and we don't think much about it;However' the way you speak about us means so very much. You are an Angel to the people of Newfoundland. God bless you always.
I don't know how I missed this video, I thought I had seen them all. Thank you for sharing this; it gives me a warm uplifted feeling even just sitting here almost 18 years later. That day is still so fresh, the horror and pain so real, but these people were there for us when we were lost in body, mind and soul and somehow managed, through patience and caring, to help us put ourselves back together. Thank you always.
My family and all their freinds are who this Lady speaks of and. whom they met on that fate full day. They are indeed beautiful. I also believe its time to return myself; with my family after watching this. It been far to long and such an honor to see this.:) wow what a circle.
I love the special relation that exists between Canada and the US I hope one day there won't even be any need for Customs agents at our border in one day.
Thank you for posting this video. Seeing the other videos, it makes me proud of my fellow Cdns and grateful to know that our neighbours are healing from this tragedy. 9/11 was for most of us, the worst single day in our lifetimes. Whether it was New York or Toronto or anywhere else in the world, we all grieved.
Newife's are the butt of many jokes simply because of political propaganda. Because they were the last to join the confederacy and make Canada the great nation it is today. Mainlanders took offense from those who opposed joining and wanted to remain a British colony. It wasn't until 1949 that Newfoundland became one of us. We were glad when they did and we are proud to boast of what they have done. But we have treated them poorly shutting down their fisheries and forcing many to leave their beloved homes and seek employment elsewhere. To Quebec and Toronto and Nfld's second largest city Ft. Mac. So I shall out of respect stop telling Newfie jokes except one I heard from a newfie. Newfie-: "How do Newfie's have babies?" Respondent-: only wanting to hear the punch line responds -: "I don't know , How do newfie's have babies?" Newfie-: "and you make fun of newfies.???" We went to Newfoundland for our honeymoon long before all this happened and we are very happy we did. It truly is a very special place with incredibly beautiful scenery
I met people from Botwood, NL 2 weeks ago who proudly told us their Doctor was a recipient of the Delta 15 scholarship. Thank you.
