For example, when you take out a video clip and then all your audio needs to move forward to line up with the video. Diana, this is EXACTLY what I wanted to learn today. I didn't think it was possible with Canva. I knew it "would be" eventually but here it is! The grid... that is the secret sauce. I am going to create a video today using this.

Thank you Diana :) Great feature and perfect explanation! But I have a question regarding the video layer. I have a 3 minute video of a person explaining stuff and i want to add simple animations as icons and text. If I import the video I have a three minute long video in a single "site" and if I animate everything in that one site I can't see anything because EVERY Icon or text is shown on the canvas as soon as I stop the playback... I tried to split up the talking video in several pieces for to add the animations seperately so that Canva only shows the added pieces to the cut site but if I do that I can't refine the talking video because that will mess up the timings very badly. Is there any way to add an additional sort of "animation layer" or is there any setting to only show what's underneath the playhead?

I loved this tutorial! And it looks simple enough but when I tried it did some reason Canva doesn’t show my element timing stacked on top like yours. Once I added the grid and placed a second element on top, i clips no loner see timing on the first element

This was a great video, glad I found your channel. Do you have a video on how to create a video like the one we're watching? For example, I have a video that I edit in iMovie but I need a video of me (to appear in the lower corner) showing me talking through the video for the audience.

You can try the Canva feature called: Record yourself, when you click on the "Upload" tab in the side panel of the Editor. That will let you record yourself in a talking bubble.
We personally use a different technique, but that involves other software like OBS, QuickTime Player and Premiere Pro to create our tutorials.

No, you cannot edit embed videos. If you embed a youtube video and then download it, you'll only see a thumbnail of the video but not the video itself.

Hey!!! awesome video. For me the sizers icon to crop the grid isn't there, I literally can't see anything that replaces that. the frustration is real haha. If you know any solutions that would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm having an issue with a video that I made in a teleprompter app and uploaded it to canva and I can't edit it, do you have any recommendations?
This is amazing if you have only 5-10 second clips but otherwise you have to scroll all the way down to the end of the element just to adjust the timing instead of just being able to click on the element just added and adjust the timing like you do the opacity or color. Still a lot of steps to make very simple adjustments and it's more time consuming to have to scroll through an entire video to make the new element just 2-3 seconds. The biggest advantage beside saving a few dollars is Canva is web based and you don't have to download a software to edit videos you just have to have even more time if your clips are more than a few seconds long.

@@TeamRonDi also the text layering is a pain, especially if you have a lot of texts that you want to enter. All of the texts have to be layered on top of each other which kind of makes it hard for you to see. It would be good if you could just create a element and simply drag it on top to the exact point where you want the text to be in the video instead of entering all of the texts on one clip.

I need to know how to have 2 videos on top of each other and one of them has the background removed. Essentially I have a video of someone dancing with the background removed and I want to layer it on top of another video.
Is anyone else having a problem with not being able to drag the new video..i am able to cut the timeline of the video and also match the time int he "show timeline" to match - but from there i can not drag the video to the part of audio i want it lined up with. been at it for hours.
There is no 'show timing" when right click it to my canva how to visible it?

Hi Charmi, yes you can. Try moving the frame from both videos a little off from the middle and then select them both, you'll then see both timelines.

Hi at the beginning of this video when you show uploading the video you are going to use there are some images of dogs with hats on, do you have these in canva or did you use them for something, I love them!

I am re watching this for I am have trouble with the timing and being able to see both the video and picture so i can seperate them is there a trick to see them stacked on each other so i can move them?
After I drag the video to the seconds I want for the second video, my original video turns into the grid and I can’t see myself in those portions of the video anymore
whenever you get finished editing a specific part, you split the video so the edits you did in the first video don’t overlap into the second part. I hope that helps.

Yes, check the transitions. To do that click in between two pages on your timeline.

I don't think you can export at 4K60 fps at the moment.

Hi Kim, as far as I know, the content you upload via the app is not available on desktop. You'll have to upload it again from desktop to use it there 😢

This is working for me at all. Adding the frame just covers my entire video and I have no option to split between screens. A couple other people have asked the same questions here and it looks like there hasn't been any response

No, you'll need to share your presentation as a view link or a website for this to work.
I've tried like a million times but this just doesn't work if you choose instagram story video. No matter what if I make it that size even manually I can't get the timeline to show up with the grid in place.
