I’ve found tears really beneficial as a psych, obviously I’m not bawling my eyes out, but there’s been moments I’ve become teary and it’s supported the rapport. Though I find I’m usually teary when the client is seeing progress. Proud tears!
awesome video! i’m an 18 year old who feels and for the longest has felt like counseling is what i was born to do - and videos like this from you have really helped confirm that thanks a ton
your story about showing up your 75% when suffering from your own problem made me accept myself more. i'm on a part time job of helping people with mental disorders getting a job and sometimes it's hard to feel like "i have to work with 100% energy." but yes we're humans we can't always be 100%. it's important that we continue in a sustainable way🌱 i'm aiming to become a counselor hopefully in 5years and your video always keeps me motivated🤍 Thank you so much for your video!(from japan)
I'm so glad to hear that! Funnily enough I often found taking off the pressure to be be 100% perfect made it easier to show up authentically. Your work sounds so incredibly important, all the best
This was great, I always had this questions myself, thank u so much Ro, you are awsome I`m a psy student in middle east and I found your video`s super helpful
hii! I am currently doing my igcse's and am living in middle east, hoping to study psych in middle east as well. I wanted to know a couple of things if you dont mind it will be extremely helpfull for me: 1) i havent taken maths in my igcse is that a need in uni in middle east? 2) how is the study system like do you like it? I would really appreciate it! also good luck!
@@AuroraDream_sky hi, I'm more than happy to help, actually university policies are different in each country for example India or Russia or Dubai is advanced I literally have no idea what are their requirements if I were you I would have contacted the university and asked them, and I currently study psych in Iran the quality is not good at all I have to do a lot of reading on my own mostly because my country is more or less something between north Korea and china and the freedom of subjects we study are limited and must be suitable to our regime but I know that turkey has good universities they are more European and free, so I strongly recommend to stay far far away from Iran😑🤞🏻
@@mehrijabrailin Oh god, thankyou so much!! I appreciate you helping so so much! Thankyouu and I hope that you become a great psychologist ( or what you want to ) I am sure you are gonna do great!
Hello sis, thank you for your channel, insights, experience and for chatting about taboo yet important topics such as what you addressed in this video. Your personality and humour is a lot like a good friend of mine who is a social worker and your videos are like having a chat over coffee with this/a friend :) Thank you again for sharing! Personally, I am considering becoming a psychologist (with an undergraduate from a non-psychology background) or a counsellor... and I just came across a video where you discuss the different mental health professions so going to jump over there! Hope we can be unknown internet friends xx
I think you are very caring and are able to explain things very well. I loved the honesty especially about the attraction part. I just couldn‘t help and laugh when you said“spider phobia“because you work in Australia😆must be a big problem for people.
Thank you for your concern haha- it's an interesting point and I think there's a difference between empathising from a client-therapist perspective as all emotions are universal + providing value from the psych literature vs really "getting" the client on a deep personal level which I'm referring to in the video. In regard to the latter, sometimes it is a barrier, but we're a diverse group practice and not every psych needs to be a perfect fit for every client!

Love how consistent you have been with the uploads since getting back!
Woo, I've set a little goal for myself to upload weekly on Thursday for all of 2024!
Such great questions and quality insights, I’m excited to be on this psych journey! Thank you :)
Incredible experiences as a therapist and individual...
This was a great Q &A... you're such an inspiring person 😂❤

What do you do if a client is attracted to you or flirts with you? How do you set a boundary? or do you have to discontinue therapy with them?
This is another one, u don’t have to answer but how much debt did u graduate with? I need to know if I want to be a psychologist that bad 😅
Hi there. You don't need a doctorate to be called a psychologist in Australia?
I think you are very caring and are able to explain things very well. I loved the honesty especially about the attraction part. I just couldn‘t help and laugh when you said“spider phobia“because you work in Australia😆must be a big problem for people.
👏😂👏
Hey, stop being so cute 🥰🥰🥰
Quite concerning you can't properly empathise with "older while males". Seek supervision.
