I performed this as part of the Chorus in.... 93 at Carnegie Hall... Conducted by You.... I STILL remember your comments to the Chorus on during practice... This should feel like the theme song to a late Friday night Cop show.... Building up the t nation and Drama.... When the lady's come in it should be like Rain on a Bonfire
Oh. Also, John mentioned the Leonard Bernstein influence in movement 1. There's a touch of it in this movement too. The middle of movement 2 in Bernstein's Chichester psalms (Lamaragashu) is also supposed to sound malevolent, albeit in a different way.
This is the STORMY movement. The "dispersit superbos..." section is the DARKEST one. Then, each passage of "Deposuit..." is a FIREBALL streaking across the sky. Then, when the third and last fireball explodes on the horizon, the storm is suddenly over with the "Et Exaltavit...".
Amazing, very emocional music!!! I'm study at University and now I'm writing an analysis about this 5.th part of Magnificat - Fecit potentiam, but I have a problems with tonality of this part - could I ask you about this? With honour. Alice
