Not everyone wants to set a bunch of time and a pile of money on fire selflessly grinding in the NXL. Go burn a case of paint playing 20 1v1 pts and youre good. Maybe ladder up next weekend, maybe not. Casuals get some hero moment stories to tell.
Also bump the rof just to do it.
The 1v1 league is just a dream. Yes, it's cool, but it's not team paintball. Team paintball is what makes paintball fun. I also think a limited paint format needs to be enforced for the future to move forward and not be so expensive. I HATE sharing paint with the team when you have guys who shoots 8 pods a game and you have to run snake and get shot OTB. It favors people who shoot a shit ton of paint and don't make moves.
I definitely think Capital Edge could make a big difference in the Sacramento paintball scene if they offered this. I'd be out there to play it a lot just because I want more reps.
Paintball period needs something to attract people.
So now would be the time bc the industry doesn't have many new ideas very often.
You have Oliver pushing it globally so I don't see why Dave wouldn't embrace it.
1v1 is cool, but I miss the old 3 man tournaments and leagues.
1v1 is something fun to show case individual player skills, but it isn't going to really go anywhere. What made paintball so excited in the 2000s, is the same thing that has pretty much killed it. Let's be real, as a spectator sport, it's fairly boring to watch unless you know what's actually going on. But more importantly, ever since the 2009 collapse happened, people don't have the same kind of expendable income. There needs to be a greater emphasis on mechanical. And stop trying to make mechanical markers hit crazy BPS... If that's the end goal, stick with electros. We're not gaining that many new players, and it's our own dumbass ignorance that's causing it. All of us that have been playing for 20+ years... We're not getting any younger.
Unpopular opinion, but 1v1 is a gimmick at best. I think if there was anything to the 1v1 format leagues like the NBA would already be doing it.
I agree paintball needs a way to highlight the talents of its stars. For example, you can go a whole tournament without seeing a great snake player make iconic snake plays. It's just how the game or field flows sometimes. When I show paintball to my friends they have to take it on my word that some of these guys are as special as I'm saying. It just doesn't show up every tournament for whatever reason.
Look at the nfl. They changed their rules and officiating to cater to offense and explosive passing plays, and its more popular than ever. Spectator paintball needs to find a way to put the focus on run-throughs and explosive snake play.
