    The price difference between both 77" models cannot be ignored. It's a £2000 difference in the UK currently. The A95L is hands down better but it's incredibly difficult to make a reasonable argument for it over it's competitors when price is taken into account.
    ... It's also worth noting the LG will see better discounts and bundles this year than the Sony.

    • @4KGamingSMT
      @4KGamingSMT ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The quality of the QDOLED colours and vibrance is so apparent, is way ahead of the LG, personally I justify the price difference on that alone. Not to mention the cinematic accuracy and look of the Sony

    • @theadamtaylor
      @theadamtaylor ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@4KGamingSMT The QD OLED is definitely better. I've seen both and there is no argument to be had there but, it isn't a £2k difference.
      I'm happy paying more for the Sony, it's got better build quality, accuracy and colour depth but the current price difference isn't justifiable on those points alone.
      Obviously if the competition had bad build quality, bad accuracy, and bad colour depth then this wouldn't be a talking point at all, however that isn't the case, if you've seen all of this year's flagships you know what differences are clearly apparent and what differences you need to seek out... I think most people would argue they don't want to seek out reasons to spend two grand 😂

    In Germany at current prices. You can purchase a 65inch LG G3, A playstation 5, and a 850euro ($1000 dollar) soundbar, for the price of a 65inch A95L alone. The A95L might have a 20-30% nicer picture, but the price to performance of the LG is outstanding. Especially when you factor in the fact the LG has 4 hdmi 2,1 slots

    All of these comments are acting like these TVs are even in the same price category.
    If money is no object get the Sony and an extended warranty. If money is consideration get the G3. Currently the price difference between them both is so massive it seems silly to compare them honestly.

      Yes. Exactly. It's a major flaw to somehow leave that out until 9:37. It's very misleading to the audience who may not know the price difference between these two TV's, and show up at the store shocked from the difference in sticker price.

      They may not be in the same price category, but they are in the same size and weight class as far as TV’s are concerned. As most are pointing out, you’d be paying a $2k premium for something like a 5% better picture. That’s not a great investment.

    I bought a G3, and I agree there are some color differences but sometimes you can’t even tell. Sorry but it doesn’t seem to justify the price difference. Besides the design of the G3 being flushed with wall looks so much better. I’m not a gamer so I only focus on the image. Also both tv in Dolby Vision look pretty much the same.

      For sure it really does take some challenging scenes to see the difference with color outside of game mode. To me the biggest difference between the two is picture clarity can’t beat the A95L there but it’s hard to put a price on that so I wouldn’t blame anyone for picking a G3 because of that price difference between the two.

      Im also a 77G3 owner and to be honest, the few percent color space size advantage does not worth the price difference. On top of that: samsung display is having problems with the QDOLED panels, during dark scenes very easily noticable disturbing vertical bars pulls you out from the immersion. This is a defective panel to me. Check Vincent's review. On top of that Sony has sluggish user interface! LG is smooth and easy. A TV is not just the measured color space, its way more, its almost like an ecosystem. I keep my LG G3 thank you Sony.

      The sad thing is that my dad bought Sony X90L and sports look the better on that TV compared to my OLEDs. I'd still say that the difference in upscaling and motion handling isn't much and I'd like the reviewers to mention that. The other thing is the settings, when comparing 2-3 tv’s you should let us know what settings are used in the comparison. For example: when comparing 2 TV’s it would be nice to add that one is in filmmaker and the other is in standard, Cinema, or vivid mode.

    A lot of YT TV reviewers over-emphasize particular aspects. Yes, QD-OLED has slightly richer colors than the G3. But if you really cared about PQ, wouldn't you watch the movies/shows most important to you in a dark room with film-maker mode on (or equivalent)? Meaning you would be toning down the colors anyways for your most critical viewing. I can understand some people wanting to watch live sports which might be during daylight, but again if you're going to shell out money for a high-end TV, wouldn't you also purchase some window coverings to reduce the light level in the room? Meaning, again wouldn't you be toning down the colors anyways. I don't see how you could rate the Sony as better for gaming with only 2 full-featured HDMI ports (and one of them is the eARC output). For me, the true superiority of the Sony comes down to its better video processor. As a person who has personally owned a bunch of high-end electronics that had failed over time (Plasma TV's power-supply, A/V receiver died, subwoofer died, etc..) any longer-term warranty is quite important. Another topic not discussed in this video is the possibility of burn-in over time. The WOLED panel probably is more resistant to burn-in and LG has better pixel cleaning algorithms.

    looks to me like the a95L has the ability to get brighter across the spectrum. and with greens and blues it really can push the brightness up while keeping them vibrant. HOWEVER. in many of these scenes, at least from what we can tell on this video, the a95l was overprocessed compared to the g3. certain shots looked flat out unrealistic in their color spectrum compared to the g3 which nailed it. examples:
    @1:03 - the Sony looks like the sky is much dimmer/flatter in the top right, and at the bottom right... the streams are completely red. its lost all of the orange and gradient in the picture, which the G3 kept.
    @1:30 - the sky on the Sony is a greenish flat blue.its almost like the contrast was lowered in this scene ALTHOUGH its still slightly brighter than the G3.
    @2:04 - the G3 won here too. a95L once again presented a duller picture overall with a flat blue sky. but strangely lost in the greens of the shallow water and seemingly crushed the black shadows of the mountain too. just a STRANGE inconsistency
    @2:11 - Sony overcranked that yellow. The sand lost its gradient and the water is off. literally just a yellow tint over the picture. which carries into the sunset photo where the sky has an unnaturally yellow tint as well. HOWEVER... the suns brightness in this scene blows away the g3.
    I dont wanna keep going but theres just a give and take with both TVs and if you're honest about it, the a95L doesn't nail it all of the time. FURTHERMORE. This comparison is flat out nitpicking, as it has to be. Both TVs next to each other is the only way to tell a difference because theyre both top of the line and the best of the best. The image on screen can go either way for who presents it better. And to that end, the price becomes a factor. At 77 inch, the difference is SIGNIFICANT. you could get the g3 plus a sound setup with money left over for a date night. the a95L still seems like the better tv overall....but marginally. And you lose those precious inputs as well for some unexplainable reason. If money isn't an object....Sony. but if it is... the obvious choice is the g3.

    I would take LG G3 any day, of course Sony is better by how many margin may be about 5% but what about other things like price different of about $1.5k for 77 inch and warranty is 5 years and I believe the LG has mastered the burn in problem as well and nobody is talking about that now and 4 HDMI 2.1 port. What if I want to connect PS5, Apple TV, Soundbar, Blu ray player LG got it cover.
    This is what I saw with installation and taxes: LG was going for 4k and Sony is going for 5.5k, that sony tax is a lot.

      @@Popcrnchicken Agree with you. In any case people who go for this premium TV is going to have soundbar and one of your HDMI 2.1 is going to be used for that eArc. If you are purist you need atleast two more as you may need to connect gaming device and Bluray player.
      As I said there are other advantage over Sony on Display clarity and if Sony tax is about say $300 more I would have taken it but $1500 is too much just for that aspect and having more HDMI 2.1 is always one of the plus point. Hi! Most of us Content Creators are very limited on what content we can show otherwise due to copyrights taking our content down or worse. Most of the low bit content would fall under this category. LG is actually the more superior upscaling brand without altering the image. Sony alters the image (though often more desirable) when upscaling and this cannot be defeated. Anyhow, any TV purchase ultimately depends on use case and environment to justice price.

    I have a 2012 Sony XBR 1080p 55” micro-dimming LED TV that, after 12 yrs, has developed some lines. At first, I considered the a95L 65” but did not like the price. Just picked up the G4 65”. Is the G4 a better panel? Sure. Even-better blacks and off-axis are a step up. The miss though is the far more accurate whites on my older set. When sitting 8 ft away as I do, on axis, I’m still favouring the older Sony. Not only are its colours still slightly more accurate, but the whites are more pure. It’s as if the G4 is an overly warm panel. Even pushing the panel into its cool range by double digits still doesn’t match my Sony’s neutral, clean whites. Conclusion - G4 is going back. A95L will be my next upgrade. No warm yellow tint for me, thanks.
    Also of note is the glass. My older Sony has great gorilla glass which while glass/gloss, barely shows reflections. In contrast, G4 is like a mirror with just some ambient light.

    I'd love to see the A95L vs the X95L. I'm wavering between the two as we had some burn-in issues with OLED and I have no idea how to judge actual black levels and haloing. So seeing both at the same lighting conditions with the same material would be great.

    • @whitecrowuk575
      @whitecrowuk575 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For dark viewing OLED hands down - LED always has elevated blacks that’s noticeable. With ambient light or daylight that’s less visible but be careful of reflections as handling of that is absolutely rubbish on VA panels (smudges across screen).

    • @Mendorian
      @Mendorian ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whitecrowuk575Oh I’m aware. I just want to see a direct comparison. To give an example, I’ve seen a lower end Sony LED yesterday. I’ve also seen a MacBook Pro miniLED screen. Even those two are worlds apart.
      All the reviewers always talk about the difference, by they never show it. Which makes me wonder if manufacturers have a ban on that kind of comparison.

    • @whitecrowuk575
      @whitecrowuk575 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mendorian I’ve seen X95L in person and even though it wasn’t side by side to Oled the difference in black level is noticeable enough that I didn’t have to. Raised blacks is different problem from blooming. Blooming on x95L is minimal enough to be non issue. People could even see the difference between WOLED and QD OLEDs raised black levels even when they were minimal.
      All depends what’s your current TV. If it’s LED - raised blacks won’t stand out for you and this will be great TV. If you have/had Oled you will notice. Not sure if it’s something I could get used to, impossible to know without owning it. But saying this if you have money for A95L and don’t mind 77” over 85” then there is not much to think about.

    On Halloween at Best Buy, you can get a 77" A95L for 5k. Or, you can get a 77" G3 (with its 5 year panel warranty) AND a 65" S90C for 100 bucks more. Sony needs to get their premium TVs to market earlier. Seems like an opportunity missed. Winning a TV shootout feels like winning the battle but losing the war.

      The MLA layer boosts the whites as well as the colors. It should be no more diluted than a C3 but with brighter whites and colors

      @reviewforthetube6485 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DinoT-r2q the color saturation is able to make up for the brightness. Qd oled doesn't use white sub pixels like wrgb oled tvs do so the white on regular oled washes out colors unlike qd oled. Might be able to get a 77A95L at a very steep discount from a reputable and secure retailer. It's currently out of stock, but if it comes back, would anyone be interested in buying it for $4000 (you pay PayPal fees), shipped to your door (continental US only)? I've never done anything like this, so I will only be picking up one TV if I do it at all. And you will definitely be sending money before I send the TV. I will be picking one of these up for myself too. Just putting it out there if anyone is as frustrated as I am with the low stock on these things, and is willing to work with others to get it at a better price than MSRP. Hoping this doesn't violate any community rules. I'm so happy to be part of the A/V enthusiast community now!

    Could use some advice. I've been agonizing over this choice for a couple of months.
    Moderately bright room but no direct sunlight. Zero gaming, not a lot of movies, almost all streaming and sports. DirecTV + Apple TV 4K. I'm limited to wired headphones, so my choices aren't great. No Sonys, for example, unless I use a clunky audio extractor dongle. I've narrowed it down to the QM8 75" or S90C 65". The 75" U8K is an IPS-ADS panel, so I eliminated it, I much prefer VA. I know you said you don't like the term 3D-pop, but that's what I'm looking for. Since I don't watch many movies, I'm not concerned with creators' intent. Coming from a TCL R615 65", which I think still has a great picture even though it's just FALD.
    The QM8 is currently $1251 on Amazon, which is a really great price. The S90C is $1599 everywhere, including the Samsung discount site. I've never had an OLED, so I'm leaning that way, but the QM8 price and size is really attractive.
    You would choose?

    • @TechWithKG
      @TechWithKG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you need the larger size for better viewing, are you sitting too far currently? If yes you have to go for the size IMO.
      If you are content with your 65” size I think since you never had OLED you would really appreciate the difference with the S90C.

    The price difference is unjustifiable. Until they are within $500, the upgrade to the Sony is far from worth it.
