    I'm from your printing channel but unfortunatly it was a one winter trip. I own a 4runner V8 4.7L, you got a new suscriber. Plus I always wanted a Legendary GMC Eleganza, the new trend is lifted with 35" Leganzaz....Lol

    Just saw your video. I follow you on design prototype test. I'm glad to see we both have the same vehicle and color. Mine is 2007. I have a little bit higher mileage but runs great. Because of your video on the cybertruck I'm considering that vehicle also, but it's hard, love the lexus.

    The LX AHC system often will have some improvement with a simple fluid replacement. Some on the forums even mention resolution of the AHCs inability to stay in H mode. The process of replacement takes about 45 minutes. I felt a ride difference after, which of course is subjective. I was not having AHC ride height issues. There is some rational floating around the internet forums, that if the fluid level moves a certain number of graduations within the reservoir (7 or 8 I believe), the AHC system is still functioning well enough to replace the fluids. Let me know if you have any questions about that.
    I came to your channel for the LX video initially, and have been watching your GMC rebuild just for fun.

      Hi Ahson, which fluid should I replace with?

      @@IndustriousPursuits Toyota carries AHC suspension fluid. Sometimes you have to ask the right person, most people don't know what it is. I bought some from Beaverton Toyota earlier this year at aprox $25 per liter. You need 2.5 liters to do the job.

      @@IndustriousPursuits By the way, YotaMD put out a fantastic video on AHC towards the end of September. I highly suggest looking at that.

    Toyota mechanic here the way to reprogram that window is roll it up and hold the switch for 5sec in the up position then rool it down and keep it pressed down for 5 sec and it should fix your problem

    • @IndustriousPursuits
      @IndustriousPursuits  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tip. I tried. Unfortunately, if I hold the up switch no matter what, it triggers the child protection and rolls half way down. Even if the window is fully seated in the up position already. Works for Toyota I guess, but not Lexus. Or maybe this is a vehicle by vehicle specific thing.

    2 Things. 1) I love tha silicone lube spray. I use it on my snowblower and my lawn mower to keep the blade areas clear. Awesome stuff. 2) I saw a vid from Cool Tools about the tektron 1/4" ratcheting wrench. It's awesome for grabbing hex head bits and getting into narrow spots. Here's the one I bought/they recommended (no affiliate link) www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F511TU8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    How much have you spent on repairing this? This question is for everyone here that has self repaired or paid to have it repaired? I have same issue and want to prepare myself before going to the shop. I’m handy but no mechanic.

    • @IndustriousPursuits
      @IndustriousPursuits  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did this repair before the pandemic. Parts are much more difficult to acquire now and much more expensive. As I documented the task was VERY fiddly and challenging. I showed everything important about doing the job. If you saw this and think you can handle it then go for it. It will be an expensive fix at the mechanic and depending on how good your mechanic is you might actually do a better job yourself. Quality mechanics are hard to find these days. HOWEVER My issue was caused by the brake reservoir leaking all over that electric motor. Meaning that I fixed the symptom and not the underlying issue. In the last three years I have had to refill that reservoir a few times which means that it is leaking corrosive fluid all over the new motor as well. That's all the information I have. Best of luck to you.

      @@IndustriousPursuits thanks so much for your reply! I know this will be an expensive fix. I priced the dealership to get the worse case scenario and was told $1700 for part and $2k for labor so almost $4k is not bad considering I’ve not had a single major issue out of my lx470 in the past 8 years! I plan to take it elsewhere this weekend to get the actual verdict and to save as much as I can.

    What is the part number/link you used to get the pump? I'm preparing for the inevitable failure myself.

    • @IndustriousPursuits
      @IndustriousPursuits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the pandemic making parts to hard to come by and more expensive, you are better off getting the rebuild kit. You can find it on Ebay. look for "LX470 BRAKE BOOSTER MOTOR REPAIR KIT" Just be careful with the thrust washer holding the rotor shaft. Don't lose it or forget to remove and get it stuck to the magnets inside the shell. At the moment it looks like the kit comes from the UK. Alternately, you can get a complete motor sent to you from Florida for $440. Best of luck!

    Lol, it takes about an hour to get the entire master cylinder assembly out instead of having to reach in that tight spot. Also, if you think the cyber truck is going to be simplier, the whole electric motor is going to be a commutator, just like the brake booster motor, so.....have fun with ownership.

      All tesla vehicles use DC brushless motors: www.tesla.com/blog/induction-versus-dc-brushless-motors You are scratching to postrationalize. It sounds to me like you have made the conclusion that Tesla vehicles are bad, and now you are trying to logically defend that emotional conclusion. This is backwards. You are first supposed to gather the facts and logic ant then you come to a conclusion. To use Musk's favorite vernacular: The Cybertruck will be mechanically more simple than my Lexus by orders of magnitude.

      I have the same sound in my '04 GX470. Just going to pull the master cylinder and replace motor that way. If I need to go to Toyota to bleed the ABS it is still a lot cheaper. Like the window idea and news just out, the cyber truck cancelled so keep rockin' the LX! :)

    I have it and I like it. However, it can not be called an "off-road truck". If you broke down on the trail-simply call the towing company. You will not be able to make it move on trail. It's a nice powerful SUV, who's grandfather was a famous "jeep", but that is about it.
