The soundtrack's musical arrangements and her voice are phenomenal and timeless. I never get sick of listening to the ost. I don't know why people keep saying it's a flop, I thought it was great!
Because they're haters and their lives are empty.
In Europe all I saw was a lot of Promo and a lot of people eager to see the movie and it is also very well-known so I'm shocked or confused to hear that anybody considered it to be a flop...? where does it come from?

The thing about burlesque is it doesn’t pretend to be a good movie, so you can actually enjoy it.

it is! It's not the best movie but it's definitely better than most Popstar's movies. She and Cher delivered and elevated it. Truly a classic.
Well, you're definitely spot on with your comment. What really makes Burlesque a little cult classic are the performances. There are songs for everyone taste: "Show Me How You Burlesque" and "Express" are bops, "Bound to You" is a supreme ballad (Hi, Sia!) with gorgeous vocals, "But I Am A Good Girl" is tongue-in-cheek brilliance, "Something's Got a Hold On Me" is basically what Christina does best and that's singing soul songs and "Tough Lover" is a vocal marathon. Also Christina never danced that hard before in her career so seeing her steeping out of her comfort zone and do choreographies like that was really cool.
The plot of the movie is cliché, and the director could have done a better job tho that's for sure.
And Cher is a damn living legend, so just her presence alone makes Burlesque worth watching. Wish there was a duet between Cher and Xtina, but oh well, we can't have everything in life!
And the songs are so good !
The soundtrack did really well too. It sold almost a million copies which exceeded my expectations and 2 of the songs were nominated for golden globes. Christina co-wrote “Bound to you” which technically makes her a golden globe nominated songwriter

Yo i saw it when i was 15 & still got my life . I love that movie!
I've watched burlesque for like billion times and its one of my favourite movies. And if one thing really annoys me about Star is born, its the fact that they named the main characters Ali and Jack. And I must confess that i don't actually know how is Xtina's charachter name spelled, it's also pronounsed 'Ali' and name of her love interest in the movie is Jack so when I saw Star is born I was like "What's up with that?"
a m i can promise you bradley cooper has never seen ‘burlesque’ and did not do that on purpose. In the previous three versions it was Norman and Esther. Did you want them to go with that again?

You're right about Star is Born.. Still, I enjoyed Burlesque more. I'll probably never re-watch Star is Born because it was so simple in story, and a bit boring. Burlesque to me, is much more fun & rewatchable. .... music is better too. Not to shit on Star is Born, it was cool .

Too much emphasis is placed on whether a film turns out to be successful or a total flop. "Burlesque" was not a failure by most standards, and it was probably always going to be a film that pleased audiences, as opposed to critics. Also, these days, it's difficult to accurately assess a film based on it's theatrical life; home video both physical & across various platforms give movies the chance to reach people. Could "Burlesque" have done better in the US upon it's initial release in theatres? Sure. But you could say that about a lot of films. "Burlesque" was never enough of a failure to render it as a flop. It was a cute movie & I could watch it more than once -- and I think that's a majority opinion.
Me and my friends went to see it in theaters 5 times when it came out and were obsessed with the soundtrack in high school and honestly still obsessed!. Definitely a great freaking movie!

Burlesque was one of my favorite movies growing up! To this day, I still wonder why this movie is SO freaking underrated! Burlesque, the Pitch Perfect trilogy, and High School Musical are my favorite "star" movies of all time!
