  • Looking to MIG aluminum with your Rebel? Set up and review of the Tweco 200 amp Spool Gun 1027-1398. We unbox and show the complete set up on the Rebel EM 235. This spool gun is compatible with the ESAB Rebel 205, 235 and 285.
    Plugs directly into the front of the Rebel and has an auto-detect feature that automatically switches the Rebel into Spool Gun mode. It is great for running 1 lb. spools of aluminum MIG welding wire or 2 lb. spools of mild steel, stainless steel or silicon bronze MIG welding wire.

    I have the 215 and the spool gun for it. It works very well, use it on 1/4 inch aluminum no problem. Does take a bit of time to get it set right then
    off you go. I have had no problems with mine and have had it for a year.. It is so much faster than tig aluminum, maybe not as pretty but much easier to master and become good with it.

    ESAB is just killing it with the whole rebel lineup. I've done a good amount of research and compared machines from Lincoln , Miller , Everlast , Fronius and ESAB. Just my opinion but I think for the money the ESAB is the best deal. Powerful , efficient , and very portable.

      I hope you are correct because i'm close to pulling the trigger on one for my first welder. Any of them are a hefty investment but I trust it will pay off in the long run.

      @@ziltoid3663 check out a Fronius machine as well. Will be of a higher quality than ESAB. If I was going to buy an ESAB I would probably stick with more of a single process unit. The ESAB 235 mig only would be a great machine. If you plan on doing a lot of fabrication or repair type work it'll be a good unit. The ability to run 0.45 dual shield flux wire is awesome. Gives you peace of mind for working on heavier materials. Or anything that could be classified as structural work. Just my opinion but I wouldn't trust the reliability of the multi process machines. If a multi process machine is what you're looking for then I would definitely check out Fronius or Miller. Last thing you want is to have a low quality machine and get real busy doing jobs when suddenly the welder takes a dump. So a lot does depend on the type of work you're looking to do. But if the majority or you're work consists of mig welding then most certainly look at the ESAB machines.

    Awesome vid, thanks for showing the spool gun. Do any of the ESAB units have something like Lincoln's pulse on pulse mode?

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question ESAB Rebel units do not have pulse to my knowledge at this time. Miller does have the Multimatic 255/Millermatic 255's that have pulse MIG.

    Gday nackers I have the rebel 215ic emp with the correct spool gun what is the thinnest you can weld? Most videos always tell you how big you can go but dont always tell you how delicate you can get. Cheers mate

      I went down to 18ga making some electronic chassis. I haven’t tried thinner. Now that I have the 205, I still use this gun. I didn’t know there was a different gun for the 205. I thought it was the same gun. Works for me though.

    I bought a tweco 160 spool gun, and it doesn't have the twist lock connectors. I bought an ESAB 205 AC/DC from Bakers Gas. What do I need to make the Tweco 160 work on the 205 AC/DC?

      Not sure if this comment is too late - model # 1027-1398, which is shown in the video, seems not to be compatible with 205ic. Instead, you need to use 1027-1397. Or am I wrong?

    New to tig welding. .. but 45 yrs of stick and gas welding. At the moment, I am trying to make my first purchase the RIGHT ONE. Been looking at the ESAB and Everlast units. BOTH have a few positive feachers. I like the smart features setup modes...I weld a lot of SS and wanting to get into aluminum...
    Ahhhhh but which unit will suit me best... NO WHERE HERE ON VANCOUVER ISLAND CAN I TRY THESE UNITS... this makes it very difficult to decide. I would like to consult with someone who has used bot, but I need help in deciding what to buy....

      I don’t have confidence in Wverkast. Maybe they’re better these days, but their rep for years wasn’t good. Check them out on the forums first.

    Does the esab 205ic have the spray mig option

    • @shockwave8a196
      @shockwave8a196 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe so, yes. The manual mentions spray in the Short Circuit Termination description and the voltage in mig can go up to 24.25V.

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 205 will get up to a spray transfer if you use a 90/10 gas with 035 wire. The machine has a 25% duty cycle at 215 amps on MIG. Let us know if you have any other questions!
