    Regarding social identity people with well developed senses of self-concept don't identify with one group such as a faith based fringe group, but they are very well socialized and mix with many personalities and groups, nor can they due to their well developed self-worth be intimidated or look to join one dominant group to feel a sense of belonging and self-worth as they feel very content with whom they are, and an internal sense of belonging within themselves, with feelings of wholeness and complete.

    Is there a theory that would argue that our actions within a category precede our self-identification? The video states that we begin to act like a student if we categorize ourselves as a student, but is there an idea that because we do things like go to class, we identify ourselves as a student?

  • @z0uLess
    @z0uLess 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    6:35 I am not so sure that all humans categorize. We know that some autistic individuals are really good at "neutrally" seeing things less personal/empathetic, less anthropocentric and, in a way, less holistically. They seem to view more detail instead of using this system1 kind of gut feeling about the social world. The idea is that they get overwhelmed by information because they cant chunk information in the same way that others do by categorization.

    • @marsship921

      I respect your idea that not all humans categorize things or people. However, the thing you said about some people/individuals with autism really intrigues me. Because I think the narrator of the video is pointing out things generally, not considering those who have medical conditions, especially with the people with autism. I'm not saying that they are different from normal people. Generally, it's just that some of them are gifted, and some of them suffer from many difficulties.

    Great content, insight, point of view. But your audio kind of sabotages it. Even single words are fading in and out; and the overall volume is too low. Please look into getting a dedicated mic - even a $100 investment (and an hour of googling How to improve audio) could give your vids perfectly acceptable, semi-pro level sound. For minimal fuss and best bang for buck, I suggest a USB dynamic mic, like maybe a Samson Q2U with a foam pop filter.

      as someone studying human communication it actually makes a lot of sense if you have a basic foundation. if you didn't understand is because you haven't read a single thing about the topic and expected to understand a very wide concept from a 10 minute video...

    • @andrewdizenzojhu
      @andrewdizenzojhu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well KA's job is to condense that wide concept into a 10 minute video. That's the reason I watch their videos, I don't have time to read for several hours about this single topic. There are hundreds of items like this topic on the MCAT there's not enough time to do all that.
