As a Husker fan watching all of this unfold, it seems to me OSU has been robbed of a potential National Championship, a potential Heisman winner in Justin Fields and more. For the Huskers it is being robbed of a key year in the rebuild of giving young talented players valuable game experience.

I’m going to argue that Nebraska’s loss of a season is far more damaging to their program than that of what Ohio State is losing, because OSU has some very stable ground to build on. However, missing a year in a rebuild can actually put your program back 2-3 seasons at the least. I think it’s abhorrent for ANY program or conference to try this bullshit and still try and represent themselves as a functional program or conference. Unfortunately for the schools in the Big 10, they never got the chance to say how they felt or how they wanted things to go, and just had things agreed on for them. THAT is even sadder than anything I can imagine. As an SEC fanatic, but more importantly, a true lover of college football, I’ll openly invite Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Penn State, Nebraska, and whatever other schools that have the TESTICULAR FORTITUDE to actually want to try and play to start the honorary “SEC North” so they can play football. If y’all kick our asses, that’s a great story. But playing football, point blank, is an even better story and I hope to God that these schools find a way! Roll Tide but thinking about the Big 10! God Bless you all and good luck! God willing, my Crimson Tide can kick the shit out of one of you guys😎 in a CFP Game. In all seriousness, I’m actually praying that the teams that wanna play from up there get to play. It’s a fucking travesty, otherwise.

As a Penn State fan, this whole thing is a disaster. This is one of those years where everything was aligning and they had a real chance to win the conference and get into the playoff. Now that opportunity is gone and next year is a different story.
Also, many businesses in the small town of State College where Penn State is rely heavily on the 6 home football weekends to become profitable. The lack of football will severely hurt many of those businesses. There are so many far-reaching effects of this horrible decision.

Clay... I think you are being overly optimistic about the future of the B1G Conference. The management of the conference reflects a 1960s management style that should have died a long time ago. It took them twenty years to finally decide to allow teams that didn't make the Rose Bowl to play in another bowl game. That screwed Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue, and even Indiana and Northwestern out of millions of dollars in bowl revenue. The conference became the Big Two and the Little Six because the lion's share of the money went to Michigan and Ohio State. Then, there were television rights... The B1G didn't even think about pushing to televise games until the 1990s. Now, they want to cancel the season because of COVID-19? This is the type of short-sighted thinking that destroys business organizations, not perpetuate them.
Unless this conference grows up and grows up fast, it will shatter into pieces and come to nothing... sooner than they think! Ohio State is going to have a hard time going to their legislature to ask for money to cover the shortfall from not having a football season. The Iowa legislature will likely start pushing Iowa to leave the B1G for the Big 12 so Iowa can play Iowa State more often. The Nebraska unicameral legislature cannot be happy about what it will do for Nebraska. Many of the Nebraska senators did not like Nebraska bolting for the B1G in the first place, but they were promised more money and greater exposure for their program. Now, when the revenue goes down to zero, they are not on television, and the concession people out of a job, there will be a lot of people upset and demanding that they correct matters... sooner rather than later... no pun intended.

Ha! This thread looks like some kind of Dufus land. The B10 made the right decision as did the PAC10. In time, We may be telling these other conferences that we told you so, now that Vanderbilt suspended all football activity on Saturday. Here in the B10, most see it as the right call to not have fall sports. We are not petrified at the thought that these other conferences have full seasons, but we do see it as being highly unlikely.

911! Red alert! danger Will Robinson danger! What's being exposed in the big ten and the pac-12 is an example of the injustice in the college football system. Everyone involved in the issues needs to have a voice and a vote at the table. We need to address some systemic issues with college football and take advantage of the opportunity to fix as many problems with the system as we can. If an 18 year old can serve in the military and die for his country, but an 18 year old student-athlete cannot make the decision whether he wants to play and take the risks or not???

They are also afraid of the massive blowback they'd get if there was outbreak among athlete's, coaches, support staff and student workers. If they get sick and have long term or even short term problems like lung lesions or heart problems they would get massive lawsuits and they'd blowback would be huge when it gets to the media. They chose to be responsible rather than risk the health of student athlete's.

I hope Ohio State, Michigan, Nebraska and Penn State all leave the big ten after this BS. Those are 4 top 8 all time programs. They bring the big ten over $100M a year over all sports. Easily $100M. The big ten can't afford to lose any of those schools let alone all 4. The big ten not playing is a big problem. This will impact recruiting. Maybe not for the 4 programs I listed, given their brand, but the other 10? It will absolutely impact them in a negative way. To me, this is the beginning of the end of the B1G. Oh well. 4 playoff spots and 5 major conferences never made sense anyways. I hope all 4 of the teams I named join the big 12 so they can play other top 8 all time programs like Oklahoma and Texas.
