This is amazing. I can't tell you how excited I am to see something like this going on in the Midwest. Hopefully we'll see the population of Brown Trout slowly rise over the next few years. I can't wait for follow up videos showing how things progress. Thank you to everyone involved in the project.

Chris we are so grateful that you watched the video that are as excited as we are for this study. It’s important to note that these efforts do cost real money and every bit helps. I try to encourage everyone to make a donation, however large or small that they can, to Gateway TU. They are doing some amazing projects around the state and they make really efficient use of their funds!

Great to see both public and private organizations working hand in hand on these conservations projects. Awesome job capturing this vital work and spreading the word of the behind the scenes efforts being out in to manage our fisheries.

You nailed in Frank. Volunteers and state orgs working hand in hand to make our state a better place for everyone. I've been very lucky to work with Gateway TU, its board and all of the amazing people that contribute to the org. Important work for sure.

Hey AJ, love seeing these conservation initiatives. Appreciate learning about what's going on to preserve and protect fish and wildlife species around the continent. Thanks for sharing and promoting conservation culture.

Dan, thanks as always for watching my friend. I'm lucky that our state takes such efforts in conservation. Our leadership is thinking about this project in the right way and I'm pumped for the future. Can't wait to teach you fly fishing in Canada when things get a little let hectic.

So cool to see them being planted as eggs! Reminds me of the boxes used in my aquarium to hatch guppies when I was younger.
Many times they are planted as fry but this just makes them that much more "wild"... They will be born right in the stream!

That’s a big part of what Gateway TU is hoping to study, does this method work as a viable method of stocking fish in Missouri streams and rivers, but secondly, does it produce a more risk averse fish, or “wild” as you say! Thanks so much for watching @Flyfishingphotoproject, i’m honored to have such a talented creator watching the channel.

Thanks for the update, AJ! Looking forward to following the journey (and hopefully having the chance to catch wild brownies in MO streams someday)!

Rick, the future is bright! I’m optimistic we’ll have some great outcomes.

Awesome video. I'm reading a book right now called "Eager". Its about re-introducing beavers to areas where they have been over-trapped - there is a cascade of benefits to include increasing habitat for and subsequent increase in population of trout and salmon (and other species). Would be cool to see something like that done in conjunction with a program like this.

Ooooof course you are reading a book about beavers you maniac! That’s actually really cool, I have an incredible video of a beaver that swam right past me while fishing for trout at Montauk State Park a couple years ago.

I'm more a camper and bushcrafter than a fisherman, but this is great, you have nice videos and adventures, but this only video is awesome and This video by itself is worth subscribing to your channel, like and just subscribed, thanks for sharing it

Thanks for the update! What does this mean for the future of Missouri's spring fed streams? Is the end goal to have brown trout in our spring creeks around the state?

Spencer, I don’t want to speak above my pay grade here, but my understanding is that TU is working with MDC to simply evaluate this method of stocking fish and what the advantages might be if utilized in the future. We have some great people involved, lots of biologists, former conservation employees and they are going through all of the right/official channels.

@@OutdoorsPodcastWell I know I am very excited about the potential it holds, and happy that TU is investing in Missouri. Looking forward to the outcome regardless of what that is.

Last year there was a link to make donations to the project...are they still taking donations and if so, can you post the link?

Its all good and well until all the efforts are ruined by a new construction for a Walmart or dollar store etc

Luckily, this particular stream is on a private piece of land that will be well protected for decades to come. The family that owns Westover Farms has provided a wonderful habitat for the study and their primary concern is for the preservation of the area and its water ways. We’re grateful for their partnership and continued generosity.
