    Glad you made this video. Nagoya is actually one of the best cities in Japan, contrary to a long held popular belief! Places I recommend that you didn't cover are 1. The Nagoya castle imperial palace - an exact reproduction of the original imperial palace at the castle. 2. Arimatsu - an old pre-meiji neighborhood that features Edo and Meiji era buildings still in use as shops and workshops selling "shibori" (dyed) fabric. 3 and 4, Tokumane and Seto - two Nagoya suburbs that for generations have led the nation in pottery production and art. 5. Meiji Mura - a collection of Meiji style buildings, streetcars, trains and artifacts assembled from all over Japan and set in a natural surrounding on a hillside in the suburb of Inuyama. Meiji Mura includes the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Imperial Hotel main building. 6. Inuyama castle and castle town - Set on a hilltop Inyuama castle is the oldest castle in Japan. Just down the hill is 7. Yurakuen, a traditional Japanese garden that houses one of the oldest original teahouses in Japan - dating back to the 16th century. 8. Tokugawa-en. A museum and garden in central Japan focused on Samurai artifacts and still owned by the original Tokugawa family. Of course 9. Sakae the main shopping district should be mentioned, and honestly there is still much to see that I've not mentioned here. I only post in hopes that it will fuel a bit more an interest in a town that is anything but boring... and still accessible.

    • @NinjaMonkeyguy

      Although I did not mention The Nagoya castle imperial palace I did visit and decided to categorise it as part of the castle. Some other attractions like Meiji Mura are actually not in Nagoya City.. but yes so much to do around the area.. I really appreciate the recommendations and I think you are right Sakae should have been in this video!

      Damn I scrolled down to post something very similar to this and ended up learning about Arimatsu! Heading to Japan in a few weeks for about a month and will be based just outside Nagoya so I'll be checking that out...great post! If you're around Nagoya during cherry blossoms and taking the Meiji line up to Inuyama I highly recommend getting off the train in Iwakura and checking out Gojogawa. It's top notch for Hanami.

    As a duel citizen with family in the Aichi area, I try telling those interested in going to Japan to visit Nagoya on a second or third trip.
    Nagoya has significantly less tourists allowing for a much more authentic Japanese experience/daily life. Once you leave the train station, the amount of foreigners dies down instantly.
    Shop owners and such are bit more apprehensive at first but are much more genuinely curious about why you're there and/or picked their shop.

  • @nateshf9303

    That's simply not true. My wife and I have stayed in Nagoya many times, and it's one of our favorite cities. The JR Station is stunning, and hotels are significantly cheaper than in other nearby cities. Plus, how many tourists even know about the spectacular Nagoya Port fireworks? Let's keep that a secret.

    While it is true the Nagoya city has less touristy attractions, the city itself has no shortage of things to do. The port area is great for a day out, Nagashima Spa Land is a fantastic amusement park, and if you're in the area when Nabana No Sato, the illumination at the Botanical Gardens is on, it's an absolute must see.
    Plus, Nagoya makes an amazing base for trips around the Gifu, Lake Biwa and Hamamatsu areas. Anyone that says it is boring probably isn't looking much further than their favourite "influencer" for travel inspiration.

  • @DanButi
    @DanButi 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Nagoya is the 3rd biggest city in terms of area, and 4th by population. It has everything a big Japanese city has to offer. It's cheaper to live, food is really tasty, the city is not so overcrowded, and located in the centre of JPN, perfect for travelling. For example: The JPN Alps are only 2h from the station (Gujo, Takayama, Hida, Shirakawa, etc).
    Interesting things to visit:
    Nagoya Castle, Hommaru Palace, Science Museum with the biggest planetarium, Sakae, Osu, Legoland, Nagashima Spa Land with the longest rollercoaster, Ghibli Park, Akira Toriyama studio (Kiyosu), Little World, Inuyama Samurai experience, Nagoya Port, Train museum, Toyota museum.
    If you know what to visit and you know which places are worthy... difficult to be boring. It's gets called like this, because you have to look a little harder to find the stuff.

    I was always told the same, that Nagoya is boring. But on my 3rd trip to Japan, I had tickets for an event that was held in Nagoya. I did some research on things to do, and in the end did not find it boring at all. In fact, I enjoyed it enough I took a friend to the city on my next Japan trip, and we both enjoyed it. Especially the regional food. And though not exactly in Nagoya, it's close enough that I also enjoyed all the Toyota related museums.
    I believe people feel it's boring because it has less activities to do compared to other popular cities like Tokyo and Osaka, but it's significantly calmer that it might be a nice alternative to Tokyo or Osaka.
