100% feel you on the correlation between kids getting older and not wanting to play board games with their fusty old man. I think it's sadly inevitable - though I live in hope that it will become valued memories for the boy in later life :) He still plays, just got to find a game that chimes with him - at the moment he's very taken with Spicy. As for Robot Quest Arena, my Kickstarter copy just arrived yesterday (after 837 days of waiting) - there are some extra cards and tiles in that edition as well, but I've not had a chance to explore them in depth. There is also one extra robot pack you didn't mention, Dozer, who adds "event" cards to the game, which have an immediate effect on the game when they are pulled into the shop. Anyways, I'm hoping to give it a first play this afternoon. Thanks for the review! :)
Yeah I hear. Also hoping it comes full circle and they might find joy in the hobby later in life. Can’t believe you are just getting your kickstarter copy! That is nuts. Hope you like it! Interested in the events but I think that might have been kickstarter exclusive.
Bought this for my six year old. At first he felt sad and would avoid knocking out robots but when he saw they come right back at full health he quickly changed to enjoy knocking out the robots. He loves the game. I also enjoy it but found the later rounds everyone does enough damage you get knocked out almost every round before your turn again. Sounds like getting the expansion with armor cards would be worth it. Overall really glad to have this one. Also, I just found your channel yesterday and love how you explain games with your overlays. I think it is easier to follow than watching people using real components for some reason. Keep up the great work!
Appreciate your kind words David. I am a big believer in visual aids and personally have trouble following a big messy board on screen glad you appreciate my approach. I do agree that later rounds are a little anti climactic. I do think the expansions help quite a bit. I do think this is a wonderful kid game that won’t leave a parent during of boredom.
we love hearing that you are having fun with your son with Robot Quest Arena :) we didn't want this to be a "mean" game and I also love that the robots come back right away on their next turn and nobody gets eliminated from the game. - deb
Loved this game the first time I played it. There's actually already a third expansion, Dozer. He brings in VP Crates and Loot Boxes that give you specific bonus that are randomized like Mario Kart Question blocks. It also adds event cards to the game that change the layout, item drops, and traps making the field more dynamic as you play. Don't know for sure but it may be a kickstarter exclusive for the moment.
Thanks for the review! My friends and i are all in our 20s but we're casual gamers and we love how simple and fun the game is! It reminds me of super smash bros
This is one of my favourite games. I have all of the Kickstarter exclusives and everything for the game. An expansion is coming to Gamefound soon that adds 4 more robots and a large playmat for playing the game with 11 players. I have only ever played the game with adults, but I can see kids enjoying it as well.
@@Neon_GorillaI really love Star Realms and Hero realms. Both are cheap and also available to play digitally for free them out. They are light deckbuilders and 2-player games mostly. I also enjoy them solo.
Great review as always. I was eyeing this one for a while. Glad to have some light shed on this game. I love deck builders, and this one seems right on the lighter end if I'd want a more casual deck building. Will for sure put this on my want list.
Thanks will. It is certainly light but serves a purpose for me at least. Great entry into deck building that I actually want to play. Something like dominion on the other hand makes me sad.
Best review of Robot Quest Arena I've binged watch today.
I've probably watched all today too.
That is wonderful to hear, thanks for watching!
the "resear-BOUGHT IT" spoke to my soul. 😂😂 someday i will do more research before buying. today is not that day.
I’m so bad with FOMO :(

Thanks for explaining how the additional cards affect the gameplay and replayability
Appreciate you watching. I am excited to see more expansions are coming to gamefound soon.

Yeah it was kickstarter exclusive when I looked into it. Hoping they release it eventually.
Great video and love that Max was a part of the video!
Thank you. Trying to bribe him now for a full game playthrough.

Super smash bros is a great comparison especially because you respawn.
Thanks for watching

11 Players would be wild!!!!!
Great video!!! Seems like a fun game. I wanted to check it out. I am a big fan of Wise wizards.
This was my first wise wizard game. Any recommendations?

Played it atleast 10 times in 2 months.. I am a 30 year old child I guess :)... made my top 10 games
You and me both. The more I play it with the expansion bots the more I like it. I am now just missing the kickstarter exclusive bit.
This has been on my radar🎉
Still just as good for me. If you have the right game group it’s a blast. Thanks for watching.
This looks like an insta buy to me. Like Super Fantasy Brawl, but a lot easier to get to the table!
I have always wanted to play super fantasy brawl. Have stopped myself from buying it a couple times.
I had it with all the expansions but had to sell it. Its a great game if you have a committed group for it. @@Neon_Gorilla
Also I play this with an 8 and 5 year old.
I need to get it back out in fact my youngest just asked for it. We have been playing kingdom rush and are really enjoying it.
