Teaching reading and use of English at levels C1 and C2

This webinar will look at the Reading and Use of English paper from C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency. We will look at the subskills being tested in each paper, and think about some approaches to practising and assessing these in the class, online, and look at some materials for students to prepare autonomously.

The old CPE exam had 5 practice test books out. Since 2013, ie, in 10 years, Cambridge has not managed to produce more than 2. Meanwhile, Write & Improve, Testbank, Test and Train provide support up to level C1 but no further (though admittedly, W&I will grade a text as C2). Obviously, at this level, students are expected to be more autonomous but I find this apparent lack of interest/active investment in Proficiency level 'clients' while charging higher fees for the exam itself disappointing. Saying that there are lower numbers to cater for is not a good enough excuse as the certificate has so much prestige attached to it.
