    You have to put them next to each other to see the differences. Neither of these devices will let you down (speaking as 15 pro owner). There is no reason to upgrade from 15 pro. Switching phones can be done comfortably with 3--4 years between. Yearly makes no sense.

      Still, I orderd 16 Pro Max (I am already using 15 PM and it's the best phone I have ever had) just be on-time. Upgrade cost is not too big this year since iPhones in EU are much cheaper that they were a year ago

      It is cheaper, e.g. here in Poland the iPhone 16 pro 128 GB is $183 cheaper than the iPhone 15 pro 128 GB cost after its premiere last year.

    Why compare the iPhone on 5x zoom, but not on 3x? Using 3x is a much more common zoom when taking portraits (75mm). The iPhone 16 Pro would crop from the main camera, while the 15 Pro would be able to use the telezoom. Some other videos show that the 15 Pro is much more suitable to take portrait images compared to the new 16 Pro. Testing only at the native 16 Pro formats is not a fair comparison. I rather have 3x zoom than a 5x zoom...

    Personally, the 16 pro's camera appears to be significantly sharper and the colors are more vibrant.

    I would logve to see a comparison between the new 16 pro vs an older iphone like the 12 pro or 11 pro!!

    The cameras are so much alike so I would go for the one with the right zoom range for you. If you usually zoom between 1x - 4.9x then go with the iPhone 15 pro. If you usually want to go 5x and beyond in zoom I would go with the 16 Pro.

    And normal 16 vs 15 Pro camera?

  • @JackyGameOn
    @JackyGameOn 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    Hm sad to see that the test results for a 3x zoom comparison are as expected - which is where the iPhone 16 Pro looks really bad. This becomes more obvious when using the range between 3x and 4.9x zoom where die resolution of the iphone 16 pro drops down to ~2Megapixel resolution (48 / (4.9*4.9) = 1.999).
    I get that the fotos look better when you have to zoom in a lot - which is probably why you want a zoom lens in the first place - but the iPhone 16 pro is borderline unusable between 3x-5x zoom levels. Not to say that portraits are typically shot at a 50-100mm focal range, which would be a 2x - 4x range. And no - the 2x "lens" is not at 50mm focal range, it is at 24mm with a crop :D This is only equivalent in Apple's PR department :D

    • @RamonDeKlein
      @RamonDeKlein 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      From an image perspective a 50% center 25mm crop is identical from a native 50mm image (when taken with same aperture). The actual difference is that the resolution is 4x lower. With the small lenses of any phone camera, these cannot match the high megapixel count of the sensors. The only way these cameras produce decent images is when there is a lot of light or by the use of computational photography where they stack a lot of images to simulator long exposures and get enough light. The advantage of stacking images is that you can eliminate some of the motion blur and/or shake.
      I am always amazed by the quality of my iPhone pictures (especially when light is low) when I view them on the phone. It's always a terrible disappointment when I get back home and view them on a monitor. Despite I hate the BS of marketing, I do like that I always carry a camera that is able to produce usable images. I don't bring my Canon R6 and lenses with me all the time...

      @JackyGameOn 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RamonDeKlein no it is not ^^ Apple wants you to think that but a 50mm lens renders the background larger than the foreground when compared to a 25mm lens. There are good resources about how higher focal length show less distortion, larger background rendering and shallower depth of field. That is also the reason why professionals are not using 24mm for portraits but 50, 85 and 105mm lenses. Also, all photos in the iPhone main camera are taken at the same aperture since the aperture is not adjustable.

    I don't see anything different, the quality of the photography is the same. For those who still have the iPhone 15 pro, it's not worth buying the iPhone 16 pro.

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      That is not true. The 16 Pro's primary camera has superior low-light performance, and the 5X zoom is a good upgrade over the 3X on the 15 Pro if you like to get closer. Also, the portraits on the 16 Pro are clearly better. The ultrawide on the 16 Pro is objectively better than the 15 Pro, especially at night.
      The 16 Pro can also record at 120FPS.
      If you have a 15 Pro, you may need to make more than these clear improvements to upgrade, but if you are coming from an older phone, pay the extra for the 16 Pro.
