It had more headroom at higher volumes. Subjectively, car audio is never really going to be high fidelity, or as flat a response as you're going to get from a set of studio monitors. Basically, I didn't have to push the bass EQ as much and had better response and clarity. Obviously, that depends largely on what you're listening to, but Metal and EDM, I was focusing more on the mids and highs. The 12s most definitely filled up the base in the soundscape, where the 10 felt a bit weak and buzzy. However, I think most of the improvements in the sound is the higher power rating of the amp. I'll wait until a proper audio engineer will wade in.
Man, it so totally sucked - Needed the space for 2 mountain bikes in the boot... And, it sounded muffled and shit. I had another video with my USW12 installed in the cabin so you can try to compare the sounds... not that recording it through a mobile phone from 6 years ago does anything to audio fidelity lol. You fitting yours under the seat? (that's how I originally did it when this was in my civic)
I had the EP2 Civic - so if you're from the states, it's the UKDM hatchback from 2002-2007. The sound was infinitely better for the bass response, because the unit was in the cabin. It just meant that the overall sound was more balanced. However, the mids and highs were better in the celica because they had better component speakers rather than the budget alpine coaxes I had. USW12 in the celica made up for it. I now run the old celica setup in my Merc (Pioneer AVH head unit)... it sounds spot on!
I love the fact you have Lindsey Stirling as the test music.Love it.
In your opinion are the 6” duel subs better that single 10” that you had previously?
