Melissa Radcliffe It really shouldn't work unless your guitar has True Temperament frets installed, which I doubt yours has. The frets are the approximation of a note, that's why whenever you play the first fret on an E string, the tuner doesn't show a perfect F, and so on.
anti ghastly You never really see anything like this in most TH-cam comment sections, it’s very refreshing to see people not wasting their time arguing over the simplest stuff.
I like this tuning. I'm a low baritone, and it is a lot easier on my voice when I sing songs with my guitar in this tuning. I also like it because it's the lowest my guitar can go without sounding out of tune.
if you have an electric guitar with a tuner in the amp, you can just keep the first fret of every string down. you can do this with a finger or a capo, but fingers can let th string loosen more evenly, so the tuning will me more accurate
mikenaugz88 But weezer is frickin awesome and probably my second favorite band, so I will put it the same category. BTW nirvana is usually drop d tuning.
"Don't put weezer in the same category as nirvana and Hendrix" lmao Hendrix is a god, nirvana is shitty punk (not that I dislike punk, just nirvana are awful)
+JPazer buy some elixer hds at your local guitar store and look up a vid on how to properly string a guitar. the strings are like $20 but well worth it in my opinion.
yes. don’t turn the tuning pegs too fast, as it could snap a string. a lot a players like to bend their notes (typically by a whole note or two), so strings (prepared for standard guitar tuning) are ready to be tightened and loosened in tension. it’s also good for the neck to be relieved of the heavy tension. metal strings can pull a lot! keep an eye on your guitar, for neck or bridge tuning. use your ear to tune the intervals, when tuning the saddles. when retuning a string, sometimes an adjustment is needed to fine tune (fret) intervals. the neck can have part to do with a tuning problem. look to how to properly set your guitars’ necks. these are just a few things on how to “fully” tune your instrument. for me, i keep my guitars set for a specific tuning and i prepare the instrument to always sound how i want it to. i like to play in dropped tuning on bass, for example. i tune my 4string low to high B F# C# G#, that way i have a larger range of notes to play. my 6string guitar is tuned standard, sometimes with thicker gauge strings it’s tuned drop C standard CFBbEbGC. with the intonation set well, it works to put a capo on to play in higher tunings like standard EADGBE (on 4th fret if in C standard tuning), i don’t recommend those cheap clamp style things. they’re too tight and wear out. the ones with a wheel to adjust grip work great to secure fret hold without pressing the note out of tune.
carloijs thank you! That was Very helpful! I’ve been playing for about a year now and wanna mess around with some heavier stuff but didn’t know if it would make things wonky to tune up and down without changing strings. One thing I’ve found is the online community is very helpful for answering questions most would be nervous to ask for appearing uneducated! I appreciate you taking the time to write that, happy playing 😎

Put the capo on 1st fret, tune your guitar in standard tuning. Take the capo off. You have tuned your guitar down a half step. :)
Thanks for the tips
No no you'll be half step down not full step
That doesn't work at all and I know why without even trying it...
+AnonInTheMatrix it does! You should try it out. But be sure to remove your capo after you've tuned your guitar.
