  • Music video about German paratroopers during the invasion of Crete (Operation "Merkur")
(Yes, I know that the 3rd verse is missing, and the subtitles are a little flawed).

Quite a sarcastic comment, which might offend the survived storm troopers.

Gotta admit - the Germans had the best military music during that period ...

    Sauber Maenner,

German supplies and equipment were landed at SudaBay without interference from enemy naval or air units. On 29 May, motorized reconnaissance elements, advancing through enemy-held territory, established contact with the German forces in the Retimo pocket and reached Heraklion the next day. A small Italian force that had landed at Sitia Bay on the eastern tip of the island on 28 May, linked up with a German advance detachment two days later.

German army started the attack on greece on April 6 1941 and the campaign on the mainland ended on April 29 1941 with the capture of kalamata.
Then followed the capture of Crete, which was a military masterful performance by the german paratroopers and mountain soldiers.
Its right many people call us nazigermans cause germans had done evil things in WW2, and many people are envious of Germany because germany is one of the richest countrys in the world despite the things we have done...

Many beautiful Wehrmacht songs have been written before Hitler came to power or even before he was born. Many other songs are "neutral"... do not contain any "political" stuff... like this one. I think Bundeswehr should have Iron Cross again and Verwundetenabzeichen (se Afganistan).

On Crete were 5000 regular greek soldiers.
But the battle was mainly fought between german and british soldiers.
And by the way, german mountain soldiers broke trough the metaxas-line in just 3 days.
The brave fight of crete partisans is just greek propaganda because greece had no military succes in WW2. To see the german flag hanging over Athen must be very painful for greeks...

Sure it is a nice song. But if Bundeswehr soldiers would sing it and some "Green" journalist would knew about id on next day we would write an article about: "Neo-nazi in der Bundeswehr". Many associate those things with NAZI regime - unfortunatly, sad but true.

You really need to brush up your knowledge of history. Indeed the Nazis were lousy in a morally sense, but.
They only invaded Crete after defeating the British and Greek armies on mainland Greece. And the indeed encountered a significant number of troops on Crete, rougly 50000 men! And those were warned before the invasion by the encryption of enigma! But still they were defeated by 20000 lousy? paratroopers.

"Why Stalin wanted to attack us, my lovely Germany... Because of him Germany lost. Yup, that's true. History is my hobby and I know Hitler did just overtake attack.
I think, Nazi germany and Soviet Union should co-operate against real danger- USA with its alliaders from UK, France and other, capitalist countries.
Come on! We, Nazists and Communists have the same basic thing - socialism!"
Good grief! A sub-human post like this got ten thumbs-up?
    Discouraging!!
