I am the client for the watch in the video. I am rather new to watch modding and I rather enjoy the color scheme of the Rolex GMT Pepsi. I could have purchased a new Rolex (could not find one) and I could have purchased a fake Rolex. I did not want to do that. Instead, I decided to mimic the color scheme of the Rolex Pepsi with a Seiko. I have two Seikos', a 2nd gen Orange Monster and the SK 007 Dive watch. I felt that Usman created a unique, great looking watch that is exactly what I wanted. I must say that based on the comments below, I might look into a 12 hr. bezel. Frankly, I did not realize that was an option, thanks for the tips regarding that. In closing, I felt that the video was fantastic and it was fun watching my watch being built...
I think the 24h indication looks much better and if you want a reason for it you can just use it as an AM PM to 24h converter. But not all has to make sense in the watch hobby :)

Nice work... professional and very clean~! After retirement from the Boeing Company I worked as a professional watchmaker for about 10 years specializing in Swiss made mechanical watches... Rolex mostly. However, I have nothing against Seiko and your watches look very fine~!

but it's not a GMT, the whole purpose of a gmt is to either track local time at 24 hrs via slaved gmt hand, OR track 2 timezones via independent gmt hand. The watch itself looks fine, but to call it a GMT is kinda misleading. Is this why you've put the word design in caps in the title?

12:29 Wouldn't be a Seiko without a misaligned bezel.
It wasn't misaligned. I ensured it. I think it's the camera angle and the bazel is 1 click away from 12oclock
Beautiful video. I feel really compelled to build my own Seiko Mod. I’d been collecting pieces and tools for the last 2 years. I’m sure that for the end of Summer 2021 mine will be built. I was not very fond of the Pepsi bezel until I saw you drinking an actual Pepsi. Thanks for sharing!!!

Did you build your watch?
You should do a Pepsi 12hr bezel insert instead of the 24hr so it could still be functional as a second time zone. Great build though!
Lovely watch but really needs the 4N34A GMT movement with dial replaced.I actually would have started with the 3:00 stem NH-34 GMT and built it from there.
Seiko case is what make it Legendary..
a 12 hour bezel would have been more functional imo

How do you know which Seiko mod builders are reputable? Where can I find them. Looking for this watch but black dial and ceramic bezel. 41 or 42mm preferably

@@customseikowatches1911 I think depends on the amount of "Rolex-likeness", it could still be original
For example, the Mercedes hands, if you change that for a Seiko hands, it will look more like a Seiko
Also, replace the bezel insert for a 12h one, it will looks unique and functional, cause a 24h bezel insert or a non-GMT is not really functional
@@LongTran-yv2nq Just to make it clear, Rolex never owned the pepsi design. And what he does is just simply changing a look of the watch. You can not look at any watch with pepsi design and automatically think that is a rolex watch.
It's lovely but on every Seiko mod forum, everyone always asks what's the point in the bezel? What's the point if it's not a GMT? It's better off kept with a ceramic Pepsi diving bezel.
A 12h pepsi-bezel is a better choice on a three-hander. A usable poor-man's GMT.
@@taylorallen5396 Well the point is that there is no GMT Seiko 5. People do look for GMT movements that fit the case in the modding community but I prefer the 15/20 minute diver myself. A 12hr bezel would be better than a 24 though

Dont missunderstand me mate. Just i cant understand why you need for customization. First design was super fantastik already. Ok after customization is also perfect. Customization is also great. But i really dont understand why you need 🧐
Where is the GMT hand? The movement was left to be the same. GMT does not have a day disk!

Great work by your mate. I modded my SKX. Replacing the seconds hand is by far the hardest part of the project. 🤙🏼

Looks nice but gmt watch without gmt hand is little bit weird. Otherwise there is many quality cheap gmt watches with better movement - fot example Steinhart.

Which model of Seco 5 was that before you started? Does it matter? I see some that have the numbered bezel and some that don't. I love watching the videos but sometimes I have more questions that I keep scrolling through the video again and again trying to find answers to. Would be nice if you could lay the watch down for a minute and focus on it while you do either a verbal or texted description of it before you get started. Some of us less educated followers would sure be greatful. LOL

The Rolex day date must be part of the list. It can pass as sporty or dressy and is also within the price range of some of the listed pieces. Even within rolex, it's somehow of in a world of its own
