This has to be the best Session 1 you guys have ever done thus far. The intro video (don't worry about the glitches), the voices and the role playing were all incredible. You're off to an amazing start. Bravo!

Great first session, I'm glad with great character art and a session 0 to cover, you don't get that whole " what do they see " lengthy characters descriptions. Ahhhh yes, Polar bears always raiding those arctic bee hives... mmmmm frozen chewy honey. 😅🍯
What a start....😅 Fav voiced character has to be Thimbleweed... Fullmetal Edmonds descriptions are great... Cant wait to see how Celeste becomes a Bad Ass through out the journey.. A Laughing Hand (aka Crit Role) dwarf barb... thank you & I want more.. Valravn name alone would"ve made this an enjoyable ep by itself. Great session, thanks! Seeing the goblin fight, I had to think on a book I stumbled over recently: "The Monsters Know What They're Doing" by Keith Ammann. It's great stuff. He wrote about almost every monster in the Monster Manual how it would behave, fight and what its goal is. Helped me a lot. The section on goblins points out that they're nimble cowards, always trying to avoid open close quarter fight. So they probably wouldn't have joined the "Fray" (sorry, couldn't resist to make this pun). With their Nimble Escape they might have retreated after each attack (Disengage as a bonus action) and maybe also would have tried to hide (dim light). I like that book a lot. For the first time I learned what the Hide action really means and how it has to be used. And his theorie on the monsterm e.g. whether they would fight to death or retreat, and his ability score interpretation is amazing.
Good point, I probably could have run them a bit better. Goblins aren't the most tactically strategic foes but they at least know how to run and hide. But being caught out in the open was not exactly a prime opportunity for them!
@@RogueWatson Sure, you're right; out in the snowy plains goblins are probably a bit lost. It was not meant as criticism. I was just reminded of the book and wanted to mention it. Helps me a lot still.
BTW: a fog cloud is heavily obscurred. So people in it are actually invisible to the players. So e.g. Vicious Mockery is "one creature you can see" => doesn't work in the cloud.
There's a very easy way to get Valravn's name right - just think of it sounding like 'Red Robin'. Also now I imagine every time somebody says his name Fray would follow it with 'Yummm!'

Oh yes, I appreciate it! I think one of the more frequent complaints I receive is not running monsters as well as I could.
