    Enjoy your videos bro but in a trailer house installation where are the grounds and neutrals separated ? If you don't mind dumb questions.

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Roy Ogden thanks for the kind comment. No dumb questions here. If you don't know, just ask. I think you are referring to the panel inside the house. On mine the wires were all mixed on the ground bus bar. If you are referring to the outside panel for the service entrance I would contact your local code enforcement. Grounding rules vary greatly from one location to another. I was required to bond the neutral bus bar in the outside panel to the frame of the panel with a long green screw. I hope his helps. ~Mr. C.

    I am curious, is the outside panel at the meter base considered the main panel and the inside panel considered a sub panel or are they both main panels?

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cole Cameron you pose an excellent question. I would consider both of them main panels because the mobile home panel is connected to feed through lugs and not a separate breaker like a sub panel would be. Just to clarify I was not required to install a breaker box at the meter base. The only requirement is to have a disconnect for the mobile home panel located at the meter base. With this arrangement the mobile home panel would be the main panel. I could also see an argument for the mobile home panel in my installation would be considered a sub panel. If another commenter has more information I welcome your input. Thanks for asking a great question! ~Mr. C.

      @@NaturesCadenceFarm I have a similar question. I just had service upgraded on my house. Local code, starting this year, now requires an outside disconnect for emergency services.
      So they installed a “trailer panel” on the side of my house. It has a meter that goes to a panel, with a pass through out the bottom that feeds the inside panel.
      The inside panel has neutrals and grounds together, with no ground wire.
      The outside panels is the panel that is tied to the ground rod.
      Is this correct?

  • @countryascanb5229

    How far does the meter base and disconnect box supposed to be from the mobile home?

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm ปีที่แล้ว

      @countryascanb I have seen them within arms length and like mine 100 feet away. I would check with your local code enforcement to ensure what you are planning is going to be acceptable. Excellent question! ~Mr. C.

    Looking good! You certainly seem to do a professional job and I can't imagine you'll have any problems with passing the inspection and you can finally power up your mobile home! From what I recall from my high school physics I thought aluminum wasn't nearly as conductive as copper so I'm curious about the aluminum cabling. Is it to reduce the weight of the cables, or to reduce costs, or an availability thing, or a combination of these, or something else perhaps? Anyway, thanks for another great video and good luck with your inspection! :)

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Simon B you are correct, aluminum wire is not as conductive as copper. Generally if aluminum is used it needs to be two sizes larger to handle the same current as copper. Aluminum wire is used here in the states (I am not sure about over seas) as residential service entrance wire very regularly. The benefit is (as you stated in the original comment) PRICE. Aluminum costs half as much as copper and if installed properly will provide years of reliable service... pun intended. Thanks for the encouragement! ~Mr. C.

    Is it a correct assumption that N & G are bonded outside in the panel, and not bonded in the trailer? Also, did you add a ground from the meter socket to the exterior panel, or are you counting on the nipple to be the ground? Respectfully, Kevin

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Coop yes they are bonded in the outside panel but the panel was already bonded in the trailer so I left it, but check with your local code enforcement for your bonding requirements. There was no requirement for a ground wire from the meter to the outside panel. With the neutral wire connected to both the meter base and breaker panel the enclosures are bonded to the neutral and everything is good to go. Again double check with your local codes. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking. ~Mr. C

    • @KevinCoop1
      @KevinCoop1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Nature's Cadence Farm The neutral to ground bond should only be made at one location. This location is at the panel outside. You should remove the bonding jumper in the trailer, and there should be separate ground only bar in the sub panel. Best wishes.

    Why is mobile home feeder cable different from that used in a permanent structure?

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ronald Kovacs mobile homes are required to have the meter base and disconnect mounted on a pole and board remotely from the structure. The feeder cable is then direct buried to go under the mobile home and feed the breaker box. Mobile home service entrance cable is designed to be direct burial. A house has the meter base mounted to the structure and the feeder is ran through the side of the house and landed into the breaker box. House service entrance cable is designed to be installed in and on the structure and not buried. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking and watching! ~Mr. C.

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      extremepianos the cable is only in conduit as it leaves the outdoor breaker box goes under the driveway and as it goes into the mobile home. Cable shall be protected as it enters and leaves the ground per 300.5 (D) (1) 2014 NEC. My local authority having jurisdiction required me to place the cable in conduit under the driveway although not required if minimum cover requirements are met. The reasoning behind this is the high probability of heavy equipment due to farming operations. Thanks for watching and commenting! ~Mr. C.
