Crazy man, from needing a clutch to a whole J37 swap haha. I cracked up at the, "our neighbors are going to hate us"😂...can't wait to see some dyno numbers.💪
Hey man, I have a TL type S and plan on doing a J37A4 swap on it but I am not sure what clutch setup or application I need to use. Do I need to use the original J35A8 clutch/flywheel setup or am I going to need a J37A4 setup?
Is this a straight swap? What do you need to change/modify? Ecu? Give us some info , been watching all your videos and you never brought up what we need to do lol , dam , im trying to do it but i get no info or ppl saying its not possible which obviously isnt true lol
Pretty much a straight drop in for the 07-08 Type S. For the 04-06 TL it won’t be since you’ll need the type s trans. You would obviously need a custom tune to take full potential of the j37 but you can run it after you just drop it in I believe. For the 07-08 base TL I think it’s a straight drop in also 🤔
I would love to do a J37 swap in my 05 accord coupe v6 6speed. I heard my ecu cant be tuned tho and I would have to get a TL ecu and a custom wiring harness/ adapter or watever
Quick question bro, I have a base TL with a blown engine, I wanted to put a type s 3.5 in it and use ktuner or hondata to make sure it all comes together with the base ecu. I noticed you said you had a base but the type s is better for swaps? If I plan to tune it can I just swap a 3.5 or 3.7 into my base? It's an 07
So with the base TL You would need a a jumper harness, 07 auto TL ECU, and the ktuner or hondata flash pro just to get it tuned. If you want to swap the 3.5 TLS motor into your base it would have to be an 07-08 base TL for the engine to fit.
@@GarrettMedia ok so I have an 07 auto TL but I was planning on getting ktuner or hondata either way. I read the 09 mdx j37 will bolt right up to the 07-08 model years can you confirm this?
@ I've been doing hella research, I guess it will bolt up just wanna make sure it's gonna run right, I plan on getting ktuner or hondata. Do they have a j37 base map or I gotta go get it tuned by a pro? lol I noticed you had the ktuner
Its wicked dude but i guess what im wondering is why? No hate at all man but the j37 is pretty notorious for failing and if you took the crank and rods from the j37 you could have made it into a frankenstein
I have an 08 TLS myself but is the vtec crossover supposed to be that dang quiet? I don’t hear much of it and I have an intake so I thought it wasn’t working but people tell me you can’t hear the vtec come on with the TLs. Dang on startup your car sounded like a Subaru for a bit.
@@mod3987 how? I’m thinking of getting rid of my type S because I want something else but automatic now but I don’t have any car payments so I might just fix the TL get a new clutch and some better cams to hear the vtec. I already have a car making a lot of power so I’m not going to boost it but what did you do to get the sound? Do you have a video?
Well looks like you actually did everything. Ever since my swap uh I kinda don’t feel the difference of the performance. I don’t know if I need a tune so my ECU can read my new engine right. And I have the oil light on even tho i change the sensor
So I did some shit and I couldnt wait to tell you bro... on October 29 I woke up at 6am and went to the airport. Flew 2 hours to Ohio to get my unicorn(black 2013 TL 3.7 6spd manual with tech package). I drove it 9 hours back and two days later, engine blown 😫. Just bought a J37A so I wont ever have this problem again. Anything I should look out for? It should drop right in with no mods? Once it was diagnosed as a blown engine, I looked over at my 2012 base TL sitting there looking back at me like "for 5 years now. Every time you needed me to start, I did. This bitch couldnt even give you two days". I was going to sell my base TL and keep the AWD but I might keep it now. If reliabilty was a car, it would be a 2012 Acura TL base model 😂
Dope video bro.. make a longer more detailed version of the swap process if you can 💯
I didn’t want to bore anyone but If your comments gets enough likes then I will.
do it@@GarrettMedia
@@GarrettMedia I want to know beside the motor what else did you have to swap

I take point towards the ground? Hope it don’t rain or hit puddles 😬

Check j swap Facebook group there’s a lot of people there has already done the swap. They can better guide you 😉

Yeah it took a while to start up. Make sure all fuel lines are connected no fuel leaks.
