    I know this is a year old but just tripped across it. These INNOVA lights are everywhere since they are common to be found on the shelves or display walls at the local parts stores. I have a couple of them myself and often end up at someones house helping them wire or tune their rides. so I deal with this light a lot as they are everywhere. They are super touchy with the main harness connection and will often stop flashing until you wiggle or jam the connector harder into the main unit. even though the display is still working the light stops flashing. This has been a problem on their lights for a long time. They have changed the style of connector and you cant plug the older series into the newer series but whatever change they made did not solve this issue. I hate this light becasue of that but being its so common its just become a norm to deal with and dink around with the connection until it fires again.

      Thanks for sharing. I have a video right after this one that showed troubleshooting and kinda make shift repair. I got it firing at the least. Several viewers did mentioned the connector issues as well. I tested those first and even swapped around connectors between 2 lights to show it was not a connection issue on this one.

      @@ThriftyToolShed Oh I'm sure you traced it down. You are certainly skilled, Yep I was just pointing out I deal with this brand a lot and its often connection issues. And if Innova sees this I'm not blasting the brand. I wish you would fix the connection issues but other than that they work great and I personally own 2. Anyways, Thanks for your great work! I think your vid got shown to me because I follow and watch bigclive a lot. You tube algorithm must have decided I need to see yours as well. Although Im not a fan of the whole algorithm group think programing. sometimes it actually works out and I followed you now as well. cheers!

      Awesome thanks for following. Big Clive is great! I was just letting you know I did take it a little further than the first video even if not completely repaired in case you were interested Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and thanks for your comment!

    Need a hand your video is all I was able to find. I have the same exact model and literally used this 2 times and mine is not turning on at all. Once I connect directly to a car battery, I can hear the high pitch for a couple seconds. The LCD panel never comes on and I have taken it apart and by "eye" the components all look good except for the lil transformer that's right next to the big yellow capacitor, the part i'm referring to you can see at min 3:00 and reads something like (C221-010-10), that one has some corrosion on both legs. Not sure if that component can cause the device not to turn on.
    You then said around min 6:36 that the Voltage regulator is fine cause you can see the display lit up. Would that Voltage regulator be my 1st concern?. Mine, only connected with positive and negative to a car battery fully charged, reads 03.1 input leg and output leg reads 0.08, since you mentioned it is a 5v regulator my common sense says this may be my problem perhaps as yours in the video reads close to 11 and output is 5v.
    Any comments from anyone that could give me a general idea on what to look as this thing is not turning on at all and I'm more of a handyman. I can replace components but i;m a little lost and like mentioned in this video, they want me to pay almost the same as what this device retails for in order to fix it, they are high.
    Thank you!

      @ThriftyToolShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I would check that 5V regulator for sure. If no display etc. The 12v should be going to the regulator input and you should get around 5V output.

      @@ThriftyToolShed Thank you!. I'm going to order a new regulator, replace it and see how it goes!. Thanks

      Best of luck to ya, just make sure you are getting the 12v to input pin of regulator. Could be a bad connection not allowing 12V to regulator instead of a faulty one?

      Hi ! Same trouble here, nothing happens, no screen but i hear the noise you have in the video. It s not the first i break this harware...every time it was when i directly plug it on the coil of the car instead of a separate battery.Does the voltage regulator be replaced first?

    • @ThriftyToolShed
      @ThriftyToolShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's fine using the car for power, I simply did mine this way for testing on the bench so I could share it easily. All I would know to check for no display would be the 5v regulator as mentioned above. I did not have this issue with the one I worked on to say for sure! Best of luck to ya!

    Every time you wiggled the cable going to the inductive pickup it fired. Check the cable for breaks due to the usual spots from frequent bending to cable tugging.

    Hello,
    Thank you very much for the great video. I have a similar problem. My transformer in the high voltage section seems to be broken. Could you tell me what values (ohms) it has? Or where to get the transformer as a replacement. Many thanks and a happy new year.

    Can you describe this BLDC device that you are using to conduct the bench testing….thank you!

      I have used the BLDC controller to replace the EGO controllers for the Brushless blowers in several videos such as this one. Hope it helps!
      Just looking for something on the bench with a good high current pulse current to it, that's all.

    Mine in Innova A3555 instead of 12V my staff given 24v input, initially the light gun got heated up and the light is gone.... please guide me what to do to recover my timing light

      I only worked on this one shown in the video. It belonged to a friend. So not sure about the issue you have at all. I would check the power input side and hopefully you find an issue in that area before it reached the microcontroller. I would also be concerned about the strobe circuit and hopefully it is something more simple. It's no telling honestly with double the voltage input. Best of luck to ya!

    I have this timing light, stopped working after maybe 3 uses. Everything seems to work fine on the screen and the rpm's read correctly, but my bulb is not firing. I feel like my bulb may just need to be replaced? Do you know where I could get a bulb? I called Innova and they wouldn't tell me a part number for a bulb and said repairing it is $90 plus shipping though a new one on amazon is $111. Thank you for any help out.

      That's crazy expensive, I wish they would sell the replacement parts. Sorry, I did not have to replace one so I did not keep any information on them to even search for a similar one honestly. If you get the dimensions off the one you have and search eBay or even a site like this (for example only) this site seems to even sell similar pulse triggers.

      Hey mine did the same thing I called them but they didn’t answer but if it’s 90 to fix it I will be pitching this one and just buying a cheap timing light. I mean if I get 5 times of using the cheap on at least it’s better than this “professional quality” as they claim
