I just got my first dump trailer 6 weeks ago. I don’t know what I was thinking not making this my first big purchase! Anyone out there plan on working as some sort of contractor for a living. #1 thing to do is buy a dump trailer!!
Love the trailer! i was thinking about the nail issue and wondered if it was possible to have some hanging(via chain) magnetic bars(like roofers use) before and after the two axles? the idea would be to use the magnet bars to pickup the nails before they reach the tires. you would hang the bars before entering the dump and then remove them after leaving the dump. just an idea...
Trey Anderson that’s not how simply life is many nails are 3 inches long stuck in wood the magnet would need to be half the size of the truck and many half as heavy for your plan to work. Nails are just part of the landfill life that’s why you got to pay extra for heavy duty tires! I got 3 nails in one tire right now all 3 been in tire 2 months now!!
nice walk around video of your trailer. I'm seriously considering Load Trail or Big Tex for my next dump trailer and same GVWR as yours so I have about a 10k# payload. I'm probably going to order one and have brakes on both axles just for added safety. The scissor lift is a must as well. There are a LOT of dump trailer manufacturers out there with all kinds of lift systems; two rams, one ram and so on, but the scissor lift is a must! I really like the light set up on yours with the flashers and back up lights, I might steal that idea for my next dump trailer, really cool feature. The non-skid on the fenders is something that I thought of as well, there's a LINEX dealer near me and I'll have them do the fenders, gusset steps and the top of the battery box so that if we are packing up to leave a jobsite and it's raining, no one is (including me) is slipping around tying stuff down. Thanks again for the awesome video and sharing some of the custom features on your trailer.
A lot of great info. Thanks for making the video. Anyone removing tires for nail holes other than in the side walls should look at high quality tire 'plugs'. Lube a corded material, push it through the hole, cut off excess, air up tire and go.
Anyone know if they make the weld on high side brackets? (To add to existing 2’ high trailer) I weld, but don’t want to waste time designing from scratch.

Alot like my trailer but i dont have the decking on the side is solid metal. I really like those jacks forchanging the tires.

The best thing of this trailer is the sides. Amazing design. I will build something like this for my dump trailer. Thanks for posting the video
Note for the D rings. For me, I hade them on the side at the door, so things don’t get caught at all when dumping.

I roll the opposing tire up on a block which lifts the other off the ground, slightly easier then a jack.
