- Struggling with dinos? They are top three worst reef tank problems in my opinion. Check out how I beat them!

It is a common problem because majority of reefers encouraging newbies to start a tank with a dry rock to avoid potential problems with the live rock. In fact issues associated with the dead cheap dry rock are more severe: dinoflagellates, cyanobacteria, green hair algea, a lot of dead corals, dead fish, buying microscope, lack of coraline algea for a long time, buying uv light. All of that could be avoided if i only invested in the live rock.
Great video - sadly had a dinos outbreak on my Waterbox Cube 20 and had to get all of my corals out. Got fed up to the point where I removed most of the rock as well and it’s settled down since. I didn’t use any products (wish I had) and I didn’t check what type of dinos I had (again wish I had!). All good points I’ll know for next time.
Also, love the music at the start - Bonsaye is one of my fave tunes
Thank you! Totally understand. I hav been in the hobby for 5 years now and the closest I have ever been to giving up is because of Dino’s 🦖. Glad you beat them!
I’ve been battling dinos for 2 months now. I already had waste-away but just ordered Re-fresh. I will give it a try. Thanks
Good luck!!!🤞
Did you have to do any siphoning of the sand at any point?
I did not on this tank. On my previous 150 that I mention in this video, there was a time that I siphoned the sand bed every single night. It helped but definitely only one step of the process. If you do siphon, get a very fine filter sock, like a 5 or 10 micron, and siphon into that sock back into your tank so you don’t lose so much water. Dinos will go right through your typical 200 micron sock.
@@Saltyrootsjax ty very much for the response. The rank looks great. Wish we had a before video of what the rank looked like before the treatment.
