- Leading into our UK Winter Tour in December we’re taking flight with our last single for 2022, ‘Born To Fly’!
The inspiration for this track was David’s love of flying. From playing with a little balsa wood glider at the age of five to flying in a BAE Hawk, he was motivated to get his pilot’s licence and to one day own a jet fighter.
He spent his holidays learning to fly and after seeing the Sydney Aerobatic Club, he set his sights on becoming an Australian Aerobatic Champion and achieved that goal in 1998.
David would later acquire and learn to fly Spitfires and Vietnam War-era A37B Dragonfly light attack jets, which would lead to a host of other Warbird aircraft acquisitions. In 1999 he established the Temora Aviation Museum in New South Wales, Australia. David’s passion for flying has stayed with him ever since.
“Doug & I got together in New York earlier in the year and worked on a riff that I had written previously. Doug had a chorus that just fitted, we messed around with the melody and came up with the name ‘Born To Fly’. This is a straight-up rock song. For me it’s literal, I was born to fly. However we’re all born to fly in our own way.” - David Lowy

The current incarnation of The Dead Daisies features guitarist Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol), bassist and singer Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Country Communion), and rhythm guitarist David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink).

@@DavidJMcBrayer I fully agree with you, those 2 guys gave the band its identity, especially on stage. Now it's just another Glenn Hughes band and it's undeniable that he fits better to his other supergroup "Black Country Communion" with Derek Sherinian, Joe Bonamassa et Jason Bonham who are on musically on his level.

This band kicks serious ass !!! Glen has literally put this band on a whole nother level. One of the best Rock bands for the last three years and going stronger now, than ever. Glen's musical genius and experience, especially in his song writing and vocal abilities, are 🌟 shining brightly in this band. Perfect fit Glen !!!! Seriously though people. It's Glen !!! Name a band that got worse when Glen joined? Yah, there isn't one. Richie Blackmore's band was so much better when they had Glen. And, man, can that man sing 🪨 rock!!! Doug is perfectly amazing as always! Soooo underrated as a guitarist. I have been a huge fan since the beginning of his journey. I meet him in Vegas and he was the most humble and genuine artist I’ve ever meet. Just the best.
