  • The Lilliputters weekend away to Swindon, Wiltshire on 21st and 22nd October. The weekend contained several quarter peals on the Saturday and open ringing on the Sunday.
Saturday started with a quarter of Grandsire Caters being rung on the fine Taylor 10 at Christ Church Swindon, the opening parts of which are shown. Then it was off to Blunsdon for a quarter of Bob Triples - various points during the quarter are shown. These bells went quite slowly for their weight though could be pushed if so, given the previous Lilliputter quarter rung at Aldgate was faster! However, they sounded very nice indeed, despite the back 6 being Warners.
The wind noise slightly distorted the sound of Highworth though the quarter of Bob Major was enjoyable to listen to. A good sounding meaty 8. Various viewpoints are shown as well as the back 2 being raised.
St Mark's were an interesting sounding light 8 which had a slight Southwark twang to them. The test rounds prior to a quarter of Grandsire Triples is shown as well as the first lead of a course of Cambridge Major on Sunday. These bells were relatively easy to get decent ringing out of and sounded nice when pushed along.
Rodbourne Cheney were a querky old 6 with interesting harmonics and visible oddstruckness; a good challenge however. Rounds and the lower are shown after a quarter of Cambridge Minor.
Cricklade's 65ft draft was scary at first but the bells themselves are easy going when handled well, despite the occasional feeling of a wavering rope above you. Norwich Minor, London Minor and rounds are shown.
The ringing room at Latton upon arrival seemed bare and an abundance of feathers and debris were present in the ringing room and falling from the rope holes when starting off. The bells were slightly difficult with odd background sounds coming from upstairs with stories of slipped wheels. Rounds and call changes are shown.
Many thanks to Simon Edwards (simonbellringer) for the footage of Cambridge Major at St Marks and Joshua Hutchinson for test rounds at Rodbourne Cheney.
