      Our Village is working on a program in our High School for student to get their Firefighter 1 when they graduate. The program is still in the development stage. It would be good though to have such a program as SMFR to teach students what goes on as a Firefighter/EMT.

      @@sgt.guardsman2221 Here in Marion County, Florida, students have the opportunity to attend the College of Central Florida during the first semester of senior year to acquire their EMT certification, and Florida State Fire College during the second semester to acquire Firefighter 1. It's really a wonderful program and every student who participates truly loves it.

      The Arapahoe Rescue Patrol is a very valuable service, and do much more than just SMFR Rehab Assistance! They are the main search and rescue team for Arapahoe and Elbert County and perform their main duty as a search and rescue unit, but love assisting SMFR whenever they can! If you are or know someone who is a high school student in the Centennial/Littleton Colorado area interested in emergency services, share our name with them! It's a great way to experience this field first hand.

      bunker108 - I was thinking the same thing. I always time in these videos time from park to first water on structure. There are so many horrendous videos out there where they are fiddle around for 5-10 minutes before first water ever happens. Anytime it is in the 45-second to 1’15” mark, it shows a level of professionalism and proficiency. Glad to see South Metro on the ball!

    I was a Reserve FF for a small bedroom Community in the West part of Contra Costa County , CA. In Oakland CA was an EMT until I was in the FIRST P.M training program and we brought ALS to the street. Eight years a Navy Corpsman onboard a Cruiser ...tons of training = Advancd Damage Control designator. Cross decked Sea Duty to Sea Duty to Go Green. Field Med Service School at Pendleton then Two tours with FMF , LPO of BAS and combat in one War.
    I finished my 37 year Career of Service As an RN, CEN working in level one and Two trauma Centers.
    Im an unashamed FIRE buff on ewe tube . I Love Newark FIRE Videos with Batallion Chief Decker and his Videos. They are Not polished , rather raw and visceral. Stockton CA ( parts of which are nortenos , surenos , MS 13 , Crips and Bloods infested ) has awesome Videos. These Two teach alot IF one is a critical thinker.
    I rarely watch this. Its very Hollywood and Two PIO’ s , one with the cheerleader affect complete with dimples , constantly smiling despite tragedies. Do PIO’s bring in tax increases ? As I dont understand their Role in a small - low medium sized Department.
    When you are Not Cheering SMFD ...... Do you Miss being FF’s and working ?

      South Metro Fire Rescue PIO thank you very much for a very well articulated answer. Though I’m shocked re recruiting..... back when I tested about 6 times , while also taking Fire Science in a Community College I just gave up .....and never got my “ dream job “. One saw the same group of guys ( no Women in the dark ages of late 70’s to 80’s. ). After awhile I found it depressing....same faces traveling the state. Back then CA had a horrific cut in ALL aspects of public safety.
      Well you guys are awesome recruit agents and I’m sure the residents of your response area sleep better having such a bad ass department.
      SFMF ,
      Mike

    • @denverfirebuff
      @denverfirebuff 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many traffic signals are equipped with an emergency vehicle pre-emption device, which allows emergency vehicles to activate a green signal in the direction they are traveling. The most common pre-emption device is triggered by the sound of the emergency vehicle’s siren. On most traffic signals, the device also looks for a flashing white light, this is equipped on most emergency vehicles, and is more visible on certain vehicles than others, for example, on DFDs rigs, you can see a flashing white light in the middle of the lightbar on the Velocities, or above the grille, this flashes to show the direction in which the emergency vehicle is coming to the intersection changing the correct light to green.

      At south metro, the IC usually stays in his vehicle the length of the incident. South metro has two dedicated safety officers who assist in completing secondary 360s after the first due officer has completed his 360

    Nothing better then a chief telling everyone what line to pull, where to park, get your gear on, blah blah blah. Must have been everyone’s first day.

    So do we know why the firefighter’s emergency button wigged out? I heard that he ended up just turning it off.

    Just wondering.... Why doesn't the Captain on the first arriving engine or truck company call the shots such as the type of hose lay, fire attack, etc? The BC on scene was giving orders for apparatus placement and asking firefighters to gear up. I'm respectfully just curious.
