Our Village is working on a program in our High School for student to get their Firefighter 1 when they graduate. The program is still in the development stage. It would be good though to have such a program as SMFR to teach students what goes on as a Firefighter/EMT.

They are the main search and rescue team for Arapahoe and Elbert County and perform their main duty as a search and rescue unit, but love assisting SMFR whenever they can! There is also a fire explorer program for ages 14-20 yrs old that teach the basics of firefighting. I have turned in the application and I’m just waiting for the next class to start. So excited 😆
bunker108 - I was thinking the same thing. I always time in these videos time from park to first water on structure. There are so many horrendous videos out there where they are fiddle around for 5-10 minutes before first water ever happens. Anytime it is in the 45-second to 1’15” mark, it shows a level of professionalism and proficiency. Glad to see South Metro on the ball!
Big fire = Big water. Definitely good work getting water on the fire. Definitely have seen many videos out there with delayed water on the fire or Big fire with an ineffective hose line.
Water from a Deck Gun should have been flowing in 30 seconds of arrival. And, the Deck Gun would have been much more effective than that limp stream they had.

I am not sure which device told him to turn right, but that is really cool. For it to receive the alarm and automatically calculate the route is pretty awesome.
I have to applaud and tip my helmet to the gentleman in command. Although the others did a great job getting water quickly on the structure. The commanders orders were very clear and his overall demeanor was awesome.
At 4:55. Did the GPS say turn left in 1/10 of a mile but then the Chief turned right the correct way towards the fire. I don’t know if I’m the only one who caught that. 🤔🤨.

Very good video. Incident command was very good at directing his incident. A 2.5 line was established in about 1 min and had water on the fire quickly. Nice job
Fantastic job getting water on the fire so fast! Most of the fire videos I have seen, takes them 10 to 15 minutes. Mostly because the firefighters look to be disabled they move so slow. You're guys I actually saw some running. Shows how much they care and the pride they have in their job. Be proud!

Out of all the videos I've watched over the years, Hats off to your crew and the quick time from arrival to putting water on the fire. I get so frustrated at times watching firefighters lollygagging around, putting on thier PPE... 30- 45 seconds later they are set but no water. Your crew rocked.

It really makes a huge difference and safer for everyone on the road. As you may notice, it’s only green in one of the four directions which unclogs any backup stuck in, or if absolutely necessary, use the oncoming lane.

I was a Reserve FF for a small bedroom Community in the West part of Contra Costa County , CA. In Oakland CA was an EMT until I was in the FIRST P.M training program and we brought ALS to the street. Eight years a Navy Corpsman onboard a Cruiser ...tons of training = Advancd Damage Control designator. Cross decked Sea Duty to Sea Duty to Go Green. Field Med Service School at Pendleton then Two tours with FMF , LPO of BAS and combat in one War. I finished my 37 year Career of Service As an RN, CEN working in level one and Two trauma Centers. Im an unashamed FIRE buff on ewe tube . I Love Newark FIRE Videos with Batallion Chief Decker and his Videos. They are Not polished , rather raw and visceral. Stockton CA ( parts of which are nortenos , surenos , MS 13 , Crips and Bloods infested ) has awesome Videos. These Two teach alot IF one is a critical thinker. I rarely watch this. Its very Hollywood and Two PIO’ s , one with the cheerleader affect complete with dimples , constantly smiling despite tragedies. Do PIO’s bring in tax increases ? As I dont understand their Role in a small - low medium sized Department. When you are Not Cheering SMFD ...... Do you Miss being FF’s and working ?

Though I’m shocked re recruiting..... back when I tested about 6 times , while also taking Fire Science in a Community College I just gave up .....and never got my “ dream job “. One saw the same group of guys ( no Women in the dark ages of late 70’s to 80’s. ). After awhile I found it depressing....same faces traveling the state. Back then CA had a horrific cut in ALL aspects of public safety. About what is the raw amount that a new PIO for SMFR would make? That is on average not including pay vacation, on and off responding, cost of living, tax’s and anything else but as I did raw before everything else is taken out!
That is good that you are getting secondary school children/ Adults. Getting to help out at fires. The out side cooker that went on fire could the family not keep a foam fire extinguisher at the side of the out side cooker just in case just a thing like the side of the house does catch fire and all so call you.
I wish we had something like the Arapahoe rescue in South Jersey. I know my department, Sea Isle City, could have benefited from something like that on several occasions. Good work as always.
Great Knockdown! You can see the excellent training these firefighters have. IC was was calm cool and collected. I myself am a Chief Officer the only thing i didnt understand was no actual 360 by IC.. Command from inside their vehicle maybe their SOP. Still an awesome job done by all!!

Just wondering.... Why doesn't the Captain on the first arriving engine or truck company call the shots such as the type of hose lay, fire attack, etc? The BC on scene was giving orders for apparatus placement and asking firefighters to gear up. I'm respectfully just curious.

@SOUTH METRO FIRE RESCUE PIO Im a Bruins Fan. Yep i saw the vid. My Dad is Retired Phx pd (25years of service). I will send some phx pd patches. And a phx pd Air support coin. Its funny my town is about 3 or 4 hundred feet higher than Denver. But u guys get more snow. Hope the Monsoons are good to u guys in SMFR'S AREA. We mae it to 103 a few week ago its been near 100 thats rare fore the area. I used to want to be a ff but i saw that Azdot was a better fit. ( i have high functioning Autusim u could tell just by looking at me. lol) anyway i try send those patches here in a few days. Be safe and rember fords are Fix Or Repair Daily. Just wondering.... Why doesn't the Captain on the first arriving engine or truck company call the shots such as the type of hose lay, fire attack, etc? The BC on scene was giving orders for apparatus placement and asking firefighters to gear up. I'm respectfully just curious.
Was that Roanoke tx fire? Bc I live in Roanoke and their firefighters are amazing and friendly!!
What's is the residency requirements to become a firefighter? And would one be able to just be a Firefighter and or Firefighter/EMT-Basic?
