  • In this video I discuss the basics of loading your own blanks. If you need to shoot a lot of blanks it will save you a TON of money over factory blanks.

Great video, thanks for the info. What powder die setup is that?

It is the die that came with the Hornady AP lnl press just with the auto powder measure removed and a funnel put in it's place.

I take it they will not cycle your AR?
It took me a bit but it finally came to me why you didnt resize the cases. So then the question is do you only use the spent cases that came out of the gun you are running them through?

Yes, all these came out of my AR and have been loaded several times.

I am wanting to make just a few rounds I dont have any of the equipment you have but what I am wanting to do I cant find answers for maybe you can help. I would like to make like one round a piece for my hand guns and wondering if I use a live round remove the lead would the grain inside those be enough to make the blank and since I cant crimp it can I use something like cotton or Ive seen cork and pack it will it still fire. The reason I just need single rounds I want the first round in my pistol to be blank so if needed to disburse/scare something that round wont be lethal just enough to scare and then the second to be able to protect if necessary. Or should I add more grains than say the 30grain it comes with? Any suggestions?

This is what I use for a "warning" pompepperspray.com/
To use lethal force you must have a reasonable fear of imminent bodily harm or death. Now you are using a blank as a warning which means you obviously don't have an objective fear of great bodily harm or death.
To make maters worst having a blank loaded in the chamber just made your draw to first shot time even worse. And the #1 way to win a gun fight is to be the first to put a shot in an anatomically significant spot.
So yes you CAN use a blank to scare someone, but I would say it is a bad idea from a self defense strategy. Also if you don't have the crimp dies you can do what you said and get some sort of cork, but then cycling can become on issue so you would likely have to manually load it.
Good luck! Also check out the Active Self Protection Channel they have some AMAZING information on self defense.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any advice for 30-06 blanks? Im trying to make some up for an M1 Garand.

No matter how hot I loaded the blanks with pistol powder they never cycled the gun even with a golf ball launcher on the end. There wasn't enough pressure in the gas tube to cycle the action. Even when the blank was 100% full of 700X which is a fast pistol powder.
So it probably won't really matter how hot you load your blank for your M1 Garand. I would start somewhere similar to where I did my .223 blanks and go up from there. But my guess is it won't matter.

If you want blanks to cycle properly you have to use one of these: militarydepotusa.com/ar15-m4-m23-blank-firing-adaptor-for-carbine-yellow-mnt16ad2c/

Ok, I have a blank adapter installed, this would be used for reenactment events. Any advice for a Garand load to start from?

halo mr. I made hollow bullets from 5.56 sharp bullets but when I shot it sometimes it flashed sometimes it made a soft sound, for the filling I used original 5.56 sharp bullets, you can check the size of the filling

Will it cycle with BFA ?

I have not tested it, but I would put money on the fact that they would cycle without issues.

Hi I am from Czech Republic and I have a few Blank guns ( not a real guns ) Can you help me with powder Measure ? Iwant to craft some 7,62x54 R blanks , some 9 mm Luger blanks and one of the reloaders give me information , that i can use Powder Lovex S035 , but i donˇt know what pressure is it , If itˇs only for Rifle Blanks , or if itˇs useable for 9 mm SMG blanks also .
Thanks for tips , I am Begginer .

Sorry for not responding early. As for you blank loads, what do you intend on doing with them. I have honestly never even seen a "blank gun." It doesn't sound like something I would ever want to own either. I can give tips and pointers but I hesitate to give exact loads due to liability purposes.
My recommendation would be work up a load. Which means start with a small amount of powder, test it, if it doesn't cycle then increase your powder charge until you get the results you want. An under powered blank won't damage anything, but starting too high can be bad including blowing up your gun and killing you. So start small and work up from there.

@@TheLarkinsLair Thanks , yeah i honestly agree with you , I will start from 0,250 g of powder and I can add more if my gun PPS43 Sudajev which i have Setup on PPU 9x19 Luger Blanks will not cycle i will add 0,050 grams od powder if it will not cycle like factory Blank Ammo from Prvi partizan.

@@TheLarkinsLair I also think , that Powder Lovex S 035 and Lovex S015 from Explosia , that our seller from Czech Republic recommended one will fire slowly and second will fire rapidly it will be problem too . I donˇt know what pressure will be different here opposite factory powder .

@@TheLarkinsLair I measured today on Digital calibrated scale frankford Arsenal - 0,355 grams of powder in PPU 9x19 Luger Blank its 5,5 Grains , I will start on 0,300 grams of Powder if it will be less dangerous for my SMG , thank you .
