Yes - the word church is not literal. Used to be they worshipped in tents, then the tabernacle, now houses and buildings. But that's not what Jesus means when he talks about the church. It's the body of Christ (we believers) which make up the Church of Christ.
Growing up CoC and Baptist... Our alter was a pulpit, our baptism was just "a personal experiance," and our lords supper (AKA the eucharist) was just bread and grape juice we ate and drank in memory only of christ. Even our music lacked reverance or worship. Just a bunch of old people singing country folk hymms about themselves and how good they are or how lost the world is. Not glorifying God, only glorifying ourselves because we were christians or damning the world for christ to come and judge us all. One distracted you with instruments and the other couldn't stop arguing as to why its right or wrong to use them. There are more American flags being revered in the Churches of Christ or baptist churches than crosses or saints ive been to. If Jesus calls his body the church, why don’t we call it “THE CHURCH”? Wouldn’t that separate us from all the other so called churches? People ask me what denomination I am. I tell them I’m not in a denomination. They say what church are you in? I tell them I’m a member of the church. Yes but which one? I tell them the church that Christ built. Then they say oh… You’re one of those church of Christ people! I tell them I’m not “church of Christ”. I’m a Christian and I belong to the body of Christ, the one that Jesus talks about in Matthew 16:18
Glenn is my daughters great uncle and he's about to loose his faith in dissimulation when he watches my utube mark them which cause division is not eating with them.
Used to love the church. Seen too much division contention legalism controversy splits mistreatment of members and ministers lack of love and unchristlikeness. It's rare to find a effective congregation. Many are "trying to get Bro/Sis so and so back" to the same old crap.
What does Luke Chapter 8 have to do with New Covenant Christians? Luke 8 is talking about old testament Israel and there reception to the Law of Moses. Acts 2-Revelation 22 is the complete new testament of Jesus. Acts 2:42 2 John 9-11 verses John 7:16. When will You die hard heresy loving traditionalist ever teach this truth? Better not be preaching any other gospel than the Apostles. Galatians 1:6-9 Mathew 4:23 is the OLD TESTAMENT Kingdom Of Israel only Gospel for the Jews only. Mathew 15:24 Galatians 4:4-5 Romans 15:8 King James version 2 Corinthians 5:16 Wake up out there
Hello, Green Hornet, How do you go about proving that Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15-16; Galatians 3:26-27; and other verses like John 3:5; Acts 2:38 is WATER baptism and not Holy Spirit baptism? Also can you explain 1Corinthians 12:13 ?
@@newtestamentchristian6932 You use common sense on those passages that clearly prove it is water baptism. The New Testament Gospel is the Death, burial and resurrection of Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Paul made it clear in Romans 6:3-6 how we get into Jesus Death, burial, and Resurrection in Water Baptism. Peter made it Crystal Clear Water Baptism does now save us. 2 Peter 3:21. You may ask Why? Simple Jesus Blood was shed in His Death on the Cross, and We get into Jesus Death, by being Buried in Water Baptism, read Acts 8:35-39 Can't be much plainer than this. There is a Big Difference in Holy Spirit Baptism, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, and People never seem to figure that one out. Acts 2:38 is Water Baptism to receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit, verses Acts 2 where the Miraculous Gifts of the Holy Spirit were poured out on the Apostles. Acts 10 the Gentiles. Read Acts 19:1-5 Notice Paul ask these former old covenant Jews about there Water Baptism. The only baptism they had was John the Baptist old covenant baptism, which was not into Jesus Death, burial, and resurrection. That is why they were baptized again in water.Galatians 3:26-27 is talking about Water Baptism, because that is how they put on Christ, by being buried into His Death, burial, and Resurrection.1 Corinthians 12:13 is Holy Spirit Baptism, because they Had the Miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit to guide the New Testament Church into all New Covenant Truth. Those Gifts are done away with because the PERFECT is already here.Ephesians 13:8-12 James 1:25 James 2:12 We are under the New Testament Perfect Law of Liberty which is all written down Acts 2-Revelation 22
@@greenhornet1387 Thank you very much for responding, I appreciate you taking the time to answer me. I agree that the passages I asked about are water baptism. The reason I asked was I'd like to get insight into someone else's reasoning on how to answer this question. This question has become a common answer from Baptist, faith alone gospel folks. When I bring up Acts 2:38 that the gospel includes water baptism for salvation, they are saying more and more that they agree with Acts 2:38. But they say Acts 2:38 is referring to Holy Spirit baptism not water. Their main proof text is 1Corinthians 12:13. I have some disagreement with your beliefs on where the old and new testaments begin and end. I will address this in my next post to you. I also believe that 1Corinthians 12:13 is not Holy Spirit baptism. I will address why in my next post to you. I hope you dont mind? It's late I just got back from worship, and I'm very tired. I'll try to text you on here tomorrow. Thanks agian for responding Sir, take care
@@greenhornet1387 Why I believe 1Corinthians 12:13 is NOT Holy Spirit baptism: 1 Corinthians 12:13 "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be jews or gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." Verse 14 " For the body is not one member but many." 1. This verse says "BY" the Spirit are we all baptized into one body," the word "by" here is not meaning into or with. It means DIRECTION. The Holy Spirit's directing us. Also "by" one Spirit means by the authority of the Holy Spirit. So BY the direction of the Holy Spirit are we baptized into the body. Question, how does the Holy Spirit direct us to be baptized into the body? Answer, by the Holy Spirit's REVELATION to us His revealed WORD. The correct interpretation of 1Corinthians 12:13 is NOT by Holy Spirit baptism we are all baptized into one body. But by the revealed WORD of the Holy Spirit are we all baptized into the one body. The Holy Spirit revealed the revelation of the gospel of Jesus Christ, 1Corinthians 2:10 " But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." Also John 16:12-13 "I have many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come." 2. We both agree we are water baptized for the remission of sins, Acts 2:38 ; Mark 16:15-16; 1Peter 3:20-21, etc. So how could we be Holy Spirit baptized into the body from 1Corinthians 12:13? First I want to prove what the body that 1Corinthians 12:13 says we are being baptized into. The one body in 1Corinthians 12:13 is the one Church. The church and the body are one in the same, Here's the proof text: Epheasians 1:22-23 "And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the CHURCH, WHICH IS HIS BODY, the fulness of him that filleth all in all." Epheasians 1:22-23 proves that the body that we are baptized into, 1Corinthians 12:13 is the church that Christ built. Other verses will prove that we get into the church the body by WATER BAPTISM not HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM! 3. How we get into the one body the one church of Christ: First the body, the church is ONE, singular, Jesus built ONE CHURCH, Matthew 16:18 "And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My CHURCH; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Notice Jesus used the singular church, meaning only one. Just as there is one church there must also be only one body. And since only one baptism(water) and not Holy Spirit baptism gets us saved and added to the body, church, 1Corinthians 12:13 MUST be teaching one baptism(water) gets us into the body the church. Epheasians 4:4-5 "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, ONE BAPTISM," The new testament clearly teaches that there is only one baptism that is in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because Holy Spirit baptism was only for a select few and because Holy Spirit baptism NEVER SAVED. 1Corinthians 12:13 must be WATER BAPTISM that gets us into the body, the church of Christ. After water baptism the saved were added to the church, the body of Christ, Acts 2:47 "Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church(the body) daily such as should be saved." Galatians 3:26-27 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put Christ."
@@newtestamentchristian6932 I will reply to Your comment below. 1 Corinthians 12:13 "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be jews or gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." Verse 14 " For the body is not one member but many." Here the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 12 is talking about the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit.Go read the old Testament book of Mark 1:8 Notice John said the New Testament Church will be Baptized by the Holy Spirit. Read verse 1 Corinthians 12:11 Notice the Holy Spirit giving Each Member the Miraculous Gifts as He saw Fit, so verse 13 simply is talking about what John said in the old testament Book of Mark 1:8 They were Baptized by one Spirit (The HOLY SPIRIT) Into that one body of believers with different gifts. That is not talking about Water Baptism there. 1. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come." Yes By the Holy Spirit they were baptized into those Miraculous Gifts of the Holy Spirit, not water Baptism to receive the Miraculous Gifts of the Holy Spirit, there is a Big Difference there, 1 Corinthians 12:11 No Your Wrong here the Holy Spirit was the one doing the Miraculous Gifts Baptism. They did not have the complete revealed word in 1 Corinthians 12, because the complete PERFECT has not come as of yet 1 Corinthians 13:8-12 John 16:12-15 here is where people blow it big time. Jesus is telling these Jews before the Cross, that the Holy Spirit would bring to remembrance the things Jesus would teach them about His new testament Kingdom after the Cross. Mathew 28:16-20 Acts 1:3 Jesus spent 40 days after the Cross teaching all not some of New Testament kingdom Commands . Jesus before the Cross only taught the Law of Moses Mathew 5:17-18 Mathew 7:12 Romans 15:8 King James version. The Gospel Jesus preached before the Cross was the Limited Jew only Gospel of the Mosaic Covenant Fleshly born into Kingdom of Israel only. Mathew 4:23 Mathew 10:5-6 Mathew 15:24 That old testament Fleshly kingdom was taken from the Jews at Jesus death on the Cross. Mathew 21:43 John 3:3-6 John 19:30. Jews after the Cross had to be born again Children of God 2 Corinthians 5:16 we do not Knowledge Jesus before the Cross in the Flesh any more. John 6:38 Jesus did not come to do His New Testament will, or Teach His new covenant Doctrine before the Cross.John 7:16 verses 2 John 9-11 Acts 2:42 2. Yes there is only one body of believers, but I explained about about the Holy Spirit Baptism that John mentioned in Mark 1:8 Remember again 1 Corinthians 12:13 said by one Spirit we are Baptized into one body, not we are baptized into one body to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, big difference there. Yes we get into the body of Christ by Water Baptism, but the Church received the Miraculous Gifts of the Holy Spirit by Holy Spirit Baptism Mark 1:8 Yes of coarse there is only one Church , no denominations Epheasians 4:4-5 "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, ONE BAPTISM," The new testament clearly teaches that there is only one baptism that is in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because Holy Spirit baptism was only for a select few and because Holy Spirit baptism NEVER SAVED. 1Corinthians 12:13 must be WATER BAPTISM that gets us into the body, the church of Christ. No 1 Corinthians 12:13 is not talking about water Baptism because the whole chapter is talking about the Miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit After water baptism the saved were added to the church, the body of Christ, Acts 2:47 "Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church(the body) daily such as should be saved." I Agree totally here. Galatians 3:26-27 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put Christ." Yes this passage is talking about Water Baptism, but do not forget the Early Church was Holy Spirit Baptized by the Holy Spirit and 1 Corinthians 12:13 is that Baptism Mark 1:8 Also I might add You cannot Follow Jesus in 2 Different covenant ages Ephesians 4:4-6 the One Faith here is Acts 2-Revelation 22 Not Mathew-John before the Cross.
Did You all know the Books of Mathew-John describing Jesus before the Cross are Old Testament Doctrine. Yes they truly are. Many have been deceived by that miss placed title page between Malachi and Mathew which is ridiculous, but believe You Me those Books belong in the Old Testament, and don't let any one fool You on this issue ok. Mathew 5:17-18 Mathew 7:12 Romans 15:8 King James version Acts 2-Revelation 22 is the Complete new covenant or testament of Jesus. Acts 2:42 AMEN.

If this teacher or any other Church of Christ teacher would be honest about their erroneous plan of salvation they will confess that salvation consists of ( Repent, Believe , Be Baptized and Keep the Commandments). Even though this may appear on the surface to be appropriate it is never accomplished by them or anyone else bc NO ONE KEEPS All GOD'S COMMANDMENTS. (Ecc 7:20) I had a minister of their's tell me that it means (,Do the best of your ability) and that sounds good but is not Biblical. Salvation is By Faith alone , In Christ alone (Acts 10:43)
Church of Christ belongs to ALL/ANY people on earth who follow the plan of salvation below. Jesus established one church, one body of Christ for ALL. The issue is that denominations (Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc.) by their nature are divisive and have added man made rules and doctrine, which makes people think if they don't follow these man made things, that they can't be saved or that they are sinful for doing those things. God says in the Bible that no one should ever add to or remove from His word. So Churches of Christ, who have no formal conventions/board of directors, etc. seek only to follow the Bible - not man. Churches of Christ are autonomous and seek to worship as they did in the Bible. God's Plan of Salvation GOD'S PART 1. The great love of God for man (John 3:16) 2. He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, as the Saviour (Luke 19:10) 3. Sent the Holy Spirit as a guide (John 16:13) 4. Gave the Gospel as "the power" unto salvation (Romans 1:16) 5. Provided atonement by the blood of Christ (Romans 5:9) MAN'S PART 1. Hear the Gospel. (Romans 10:17, John 8:32) 2. Believe the Gospel (Hebrews 11:6, John 20:31) 3. Repent of past sins (Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30) 4. Confess faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 10:10, Matthew 10:32) 5. Be Baptized (Galatians 3:27, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38) 6. Be faithful unto death (Revelation 2:10)
Adam Cordell Well the church is the worldwide people of God. So he reads the parable to say that planting the same seed produces the same result. While that may be true, the metaphor in the parable never says anything like that. He then talks about that church and suddenly interjects the word, "church of Christ." Whether you saw it or not, he underhandingly asserted that the only People of God that Jesus ever had in mind attend a church building with "church of Christ" on the marquee.
I've seen other people pull a similar move. They'll read a passage about the church in scripture... then suddenly start replacing all mention of church in the passage with the title, "church of Christ." This purposefully limits the worldwide people of God for all time to a 19th century reform movement.
Adam Cordell No, I'm saying that a reform movement in the 1800's used that term and now claims to be the sole people of God. The names Church of God, Firstborn, Nazarene are all names in the Bible. Doesn't make any of them the sole people of God.
Adam Cordell Hey Adam... I'm sorry, I don't think I followed your argument there. If you're saying that we should support the ecumenical movement to drop denominational and "brand names," so that all people everywhere can unite as "only Christians," I'm with you 100%. Where I lost you was the final point you made... and I may have misunderstood. You said that "Christian Churches" use to be faithful. Are you saying that they ceased to be "only Christians in 1906?" What I see is that the movement began as ecumenical. Campbell himself believed that the worldwide ppl of God were scattered across many faith backgrounds and hoped to unify them all. Eventually, however, we branded ourselves and became denominational in that very respect. There are in carious communities from time to time a day for community worship. Each Christian group in town comes together not as Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterian, but as Christians only. Which group typically doesn't show up to these?: The conservative Church of Christ. So I don't think the COC claims to be only Christians... in fact it is opposed to unification among different faith groups unless their practices during the one hour worship period matches the Church of Christ's interpretation of the Bible. If the Church of Christ were not a denomination, you would not be able to walk into one of them and know exactly what you're gonna get. But we are a brand, so you do know what you'll get. We are as denominational as KFC.
This man is so close and yet so far.. He recognizes the problems of Protestantism but doesn't realize his own denomination is only contributing to the problem. There is only one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church, and it is built on the rock which is Peter.
You have been taught error by the priests. Peter was not named the "rock", Jesus told him his STATEMENT was the rock. Study the Greek structure of the sentence and it will be evidently clear how the scripture is used. The church is built on CHRIST not Peter. Christ never gave Peter the office of "vicar" or his replacement. Please leave this erroneous teaching brother. You have given NO evidence that what you pose is true. If you love the lord, you will "obey his commandments". Find someone who rightly divides the scripture, understands the Greek language and can teach you. Relying on man made traditions from 300 years after Christ left for heaven, you are being corrupted. Peter calls us "Priests", why would I need a priest if I am a priest? I need a HIGH PRIEST who is Jesus Christ, not the papacy. Sitting as Christ (Vicar) and claiming His authority is blasphemy my brother.
Jesus created HIS church - one church, one body for all. The rock is Jesus. God says in the Bible that no one should add to or remove from His word. Churches of Christ are back to basics - the Bible, that's it. No manmade doctrine/practices/rules.
While some not well- grounded in the faith left the church, many who love Jesus and His way continue to follow Jesus in His church

Do you believe Christians are under the first covenant?
@@greenhornet1387 Why I believe 1Corinthians 12:13 is NOT Holy Spirit baptism:
1 Corinthians 12:13 "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be jews or gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." Verse 14 " For the body is not one member but many."
1. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come."
And the Lord added to the church(the body) daily such as should be saved."
Galatians 3:26-27 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put Christ."
@@newtestamentchristian6932 I will reply to Your comment below.
1 Corinthians 12:13 "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be jews or gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." Verse 14 " For the body is not one member but many."
Here the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 12 is talking about the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit.Go read the old Testament book of Mark 1:8 Notice John said the New Testament Church will be Baptized by the Holy Spirit.
1. Yes By the Holy Spirit they were baptized into those Miraculous Gifts of the Holy Spirit, not water Baptism to receive the Miraculous Gifts of the Holy Spirit, there is a Big Difference there, 1 Corinthians 12:11 No Your Wrong here the Holy Spirit was the one doing the Miraculous Gifts Baptism. John 6:38 Jesus did not come to do His New Testament will, or Teach His new covenant Doctrine before the Cross.John 7:16 verses 2 John 9-11 Acts 2:42

3. How we get into the one body the one church of Christ: First the body, the church is ONE, singular, Jesus built ONE CHURCH, Matthew 16:18 "And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My CHURCH; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Yes we get into the body of Christ by Water Baptism, but the Church received the Miraculous Gifts of the Holy Spirit by Holy Spirit Baptism Mark 1:8 Yes of coarse there is only one Church , no denominations
Epheasians 4:4-5 "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, ONE BAPTISM," The new testament clearly teaches that there is only one baptism that is in the gospel of Jesus Christ. No 1 Corinthians 12:13 is not talking about water Baptism because the whole chapter is talking about the Miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit
After water baptism the saved were added to the church, the body of Christ, Acts 2:47 "Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church(the body) daily such as should be saved."
I Agree totally here.
Galatians 3:26-27 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put Christ."
Yes this passage is talking about Water Baptism, but do not forget the Early Church was Holy Spirit Baptized by the Holy Spirit and 1 Corinthians 12:13 is that Baptism Mark 1:8 Also I might add You cannot Follow Jesus in 2 Different covenant ages Ephesians 4:4-6 the One Faith here is Acts 2-Revelation 22 Not Mathew-John before the Cross.

WRONG!
God's Plan of Salvation
GOD'S PART
1. The great love of God for man (John 3:16)
2. He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, as the Saviour (Luke 19:10)
3. Sent the Holy Spirit as a guide (John 16:13)
4. Gave the Gospel as "the power" unto salvation (Romans 1:16)
5. Provided atonement by the blood of Christ (Romans 5:9)
MAN'S PART
1. Hear the Gospel. (Romans 10:17, John 8:32)
2. Believe the Gospel (Hebrews 11:6, John 20:31)
3. Repent of past sins (Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30)
4. Confess faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 10:10, Matthew 10:32)
5. Be Baptized (Galatians 3:27, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38)
6. Be faithful unto death (Revelation 2:10)
I attended church of Christ for a year and found it dead. A lot of sick attendees.
Jesus died so we can go to the Church of Christ Church building. Wow.
Adam Cordell What does Romans 16:16 convince you of?
Amen!
You are absolutly...WRONG!
