Very impressive! It does show the huge limitations of their respective BASIC implementations, though. Especially Commodore V2 (C64 and Vic-20) which are generally forced to use character graphics.

Amazing the Atari XL RayTrace.
I'm shocked to see BASIC on a C64 or 800 XL run that fast! Are these actually all BASIC, or are they allowed to included ML that's loaded through BASIC (like DATA / READ / POKE)?
I suppose if it all fits into ten lines then it's okay. But I don't know for sure.
Sometimes it's 9½ lines of data plus ½ line to execute it.
In most categories of the BASIC 10Liner contest, compiled BASIC programs are allowed. Maybe the entries you are referring to are compiled programs. For example, in my ZX Spectrum entry (BooMFire) I used the multi-platform ugBASIC compiler.

Are the judging criteria published anywhere?
The rules page (gkanold.wixsite.com/homeputerium/copy-of-rules) has some criteria from point 9 onwards that lead to points or demerits. Otherwise, the scoring goes according to the judges' assessment of how good the game is in their opinion.
