LVN making 42.50 in LTAC, started in the ER at 21.80. Only a year experience. Will never go back to the hospital unless it’s for registry in which then they will pay way more.

i wouldn't recommend hospitals for LVNs. it is more stress more work but with lower pay or same pay to a SNF. unless you want the exp for for when you become an RN. if your planning on being LVN only, the end goal should be director. i wouldnt recommend PRN positions unless if you need to because of kids and etc or u have another job for full time. PRN positions, pays you more but you get no benefits and it isnt like you be getting 80 hours as a PRN. you could be getting 24 hours for the pay period as a PRN that would still be less money than someone having a lower hourly wage but 80 hours. PRN never guarantees a shift, you just go when there is a need. your paycheck as a PRN would be all over the place. i would recommend 1 job full time and 1 job PRN for more money or side income. i work as a regional director LVN for california and making 145k a year right now.
the only state i say that nurses are rich is just california, this state is the only state that pays nurses well. i met one RN who lives in the san fran bay who drives a lamborghini. crazy. hospitals here in california pays RNs $70.00/hr plus. if you work at kaiser which is the highest paying hospital in the country they pay their nurses $100/hour plus. my friend makes $118/hour right now. he works part time, still gets the benefits and works less than 20 hours per week and still made well over 6 figures. even tho we have the highest cost of living and pay the most for taxes. we still have a lot of money leftover to spend on whatever we want. RNs here are just rich rich.
I wouldn't recommend nursing to anyone unless their plan is to move and work in california as a nurse.

I’m from Michigan. Due to the pandemic Lpns in LTC is making about $28-$30 an hr. RNs in the LTC is making $34-$40. In the hospitals here Lpns are making $20-$23, and RNs make $29-$32. These are all starting wages.

WOW! The difference in pay is drastic by each state.
I’m in MN and our LPNS start at $21-25 based on experience. (PCT, CNA before). New grad RNs start anywhere from $34-$38 and in some hospitals even more.
Your right though, nurses do deserve more than what they get paid in many states.
Good luck with finishing your program!!

I live in CT I just got hired at a smaller community hospital making 27.17/hr. Keep in mind we have one of the highest cost of living and we are like the tax capital of the USA. So I don't think it's great money but it's a start for someone with no experience. We don't get bonus pay for picking up extra shifts, just time and a half. I do get evening, night and weekend differentials. As an RN I would probably start at 30-34/hr. I'm in an LPN to RN bridge program and I graduate spring 2023 so I took the job because I wanted to have nursing experience before becoming an RN. Love your videos keep them coming!

@@AlexisStarjai no nursing jobs anymore pay “experience “ pay anymore! Maybe hospitals with unions and government! This is the south a “right to work “ state. So there is no based on experience pay! A new grad makes the same as an experienced nurse

Why would you work for $ 16? It doesn't make sense. I'm a warehouse worker and am getting $ 18 an hour. The job is flexible enough to allow me to attend Nursing school, which I will be graduating soon. I would NEVER under sale my services

Thank u so much for posting! I really love your videos. I’m in California, 18 days away from finishing my LVN program. In LTC out here most new nurses can expect to make $25-27 an hour. I just finished my last ATI (pharm). Going to take my comprehensive on 12/20 then nclex. My question is , how soon after u graduated from ur program did u take your nclex? Thank u for your videos, really enjoying them!!! Currently binge watching! Good luck on your first day on ur own. I’m sure u will do awesome!

🥺🥺 I needed to hear that, currently struggling.
I finished school at the beginning of august then I took my nclex within a week of getting my ATT which was a month after finishing school.

@@nursingwithapril369 you will be ok. Everyone I know who is a nurse , lvn or RN, really struggles in the beginning. Take comfort in knowing that you will never have another “first day on your own” again. Every day will get a little bit easier. If u come from faith , pray. If you don’t (nothing wrong with that!) try to meditate before work, focus on breathing and stay away from too much caffeine lol ..it makes me more anxious if I have too much. I am a CNA and I have seen many new LVNs go through it, so I’m telling you this from an outside perspective , may not mean much…but I watched them a lot and I tried to help as much as I could, they appreciated it and I learned A LOT from them. U WILL make it, and this experience will make you stronger as an RN and as a person✌🏽
