This guide is great! I never knew you could shoot down recon as a MG, I thought on RPGs could do that! I can't believe I was being useless by letting that recon spot my team while being a MG without knowledge of that.
If you are into video games with "Realistic Combat" that are fun but challenging.... Look no further.... Rising Storm 2 will plunge you headfirst, into the frontline of some of the most intense, chaotic, and violent combat environments of the Vietnam War! Gameplay at times can be so ferocious, it becomes almost confusing and disorientating to a new player! All this combined into one game, can leave you with a mild case of PTSD by the time you are exiting the main menu!
@@winterautumnfishing5215 pro tip. Just save the extra money and get a good pc. Don't just get a crap gpu and say "meh, I can just play on low/medium graphics" for 2020 I would say at least a 2080 or better. Yes, you are talking about $800 just for the graphics card, but its worth it in the long run when all your games have astonishing graphics. Also, don't buy into the "4k" hype. Because that's all it is. Hype. You don't need a $3,000 monitor to enjoy great graphics, I use my 40" samsung smart tv as my monitor and it's fine. No lag, no screen tear. And that tv was only $450. And it's 40", not a pathetic 20" - 22". So don't let people tell you that a tv can't be used as a monitor, because as long as it has a refresh rate of 60ghz or higher they most certainly can. If you like nam stuff then I can also recommend arma 3 with the unsung mod.
Yeah, this guys early guides helped me out back in the day when the game was newer. Hope you stick with the game for a while, it's not in the best state its ever been (we actually all collectively got screwed out of APCs not too long ago) but I'm sure things will get better.
@@jerrell1169 Tripwire is making a new game called '83, actually. Coming out in 2022 I think, though I know Rising Storm 2 will live on until then It has the mechanics of this but newer weapons, UE4, different countries, and cooler maps. If they play their cards right it'll be just as good, if not better, than RS2
Used to love the original Red Orchestra. There's just something unique about how unforgiving this game is, without becoming a horrible grindfest. These games really reward actual player skill rather than just making more experienced/fat wallet players more powerful through game mechanics. A player with 2000 hours does not do any more damage than a player with 5 hours. Both can and will make one shot kills. Any one role can absolutely dominate when you know how to play the role well. Made these games insanely fun to play imho. I've had literal piles of corpses build up in front of a well placed MG position as players tried everything to get a nade into my little hide-out. When all they really had to do to neutralise me was drop smoke on front of the position, start laying down suppressive fire from where I could not see them due to the smoke and then have one or two guys crawl up to toss grenades while I was pinned down. It was hella fun to run into sharp squads that worked together to assault your little MG-position. Good times.
Holy crap he finally respawned....welp as a qualified flank master here's my pro tip: Tap fire the MGs!!!!! You can tap fire a bipoded MG and get almost no recoil, but still fire just as or even faster.
Auto is still important for suppression, granted you should use short bursts but there is a lot of value in suppressing a target so their heads stay down.
In my experience suppressing fire almost never works outside of very protected MG spots or mega pushes. When you fire, everyone who isn't directly in front of the bullet stream fires back at you immediately as you become the easiest target. For flatter maps or night maps, suppressing fire is just suicide unless a major push is in progress. It's better to just use the zoom, lack of sway, and ammo capacity of a bipoded MG to kill every single head that pops up. Kill suppression is much better, since there is no one has their gun up to shoot friendlies and even when you aren't firing the enemy is too scared to pop out and watch closely. Compared to just spraying everywhere, kill suppression by tap firing lets you live longer, get more kills, all with the same end effect. It just requires better aim. On any non-official server with average players above level 40, anyone attempting to suppress through spraying immediately gets headshot.
Heya, great guide! Just to say at 37:08 you can do the crouch thing with other LMGs too but with the heavy machine guns (DShk / M2 Browning) while you're holding crouch to duck you can also left click to blind fire! Unfortunately only with the HMGs and to reload it seems to have you stand up, but with the DShk you can aim up at the sky when reloading although i'm not sure if your character model is arched back and less in view to reflect this... Will need to test! Would be nice if an additional person could reload for you if you're blind firing to keep out of view. Hrrm.
Rising storm 2 isn't just a game, it's an experience. Thank you for still making videos on this game, and your audience has been continuing to grow. Nice to watch your progress Keep making videos on things you love enjoying!
I want to be a good machine gunner so badly but was struggling hard, good guide. Didn;t even know that I could fold my bipod in, and the small window tip is great too. Same about penetration and all that. Just a solid guide all round. But those things were completely new to me.
Oh MAN I just realized this on is only 6 days old. No wonder I couldn’t find it before that. If you are indeed making ones for grenadier and commander as well I’ll DEFINITELY be watching those!
My boy Hex still popping out RS2 videos when the world needs him most. Really though, all these new players aren't really a bad thing (would we all rather the game die like the first Rising Storm? Not with a bang but with slowly dropping player counts?) but they definitely need some good tutorials to help them out.
I was able to hold off an attack as a commander for the us marines on the dark map with the trench/bunker line. not sure what it was called, but i did it by actually using the browing 50 cal emplacements, and then basically telling people to protect the gunners, and get on them if the gunner dies. Its important when as a machine gunner or using heavy weapons to know your teammates are backing you up, or else you can easily end up getting trashed. Those turret emplacements are also a very attractive target for the enemy when they know its being continously used, so being able to keep suppression for the gunners and support them is important. I honestly think the browning is probably one of the most useful machine guns in the game. Which is probably why it seems to have such big weaknesses.
There's a fourth way to cancel the bipod animation which I mainly use. Just press they key for equipping your primary weapon which would be the "1" key by default. Works with bayonets too. Just hit 1 and it should cancel out immediately

Great Video as ever Hex, only thing I would add is that if you do have pistol as South MG u can try to be tunnel rat like point man and that In early war gunners are often only if not only hand full of roles which get automatic weapons so, being on front lines is alot more effective than one initially expects
