I'm currently a sophomore at Davis, and this video basically shows every reason prospective students should pick Davis, if accepted. Watching your video made me remember all the fun little moments and trips I made with my friends last year. (btw, I lived in Kearney last year!) I really hope you enjoy the rest of your time here!

I requested one of my roommates and tried to get a double room, but got a triple instead so our third roommate was random selection :) but as you can probably tell, it worked out really well! :))
Any advice for students considering Davis all the way from LA? I'm nervous about distance and transportation but Davis is on the top of my list right now! I'm nervous about the college town vibe bc I've always lived in the city. If you know of any ways to travel from Davis to LA and back then let me know!

so far it’s been pretty great! obviously i’m still taking my pre reqs right now so i can’t say much on any policy classes yet, but my general ed courses this quarter and next are all focused on environmental science (GEL 10 right now and LDA 3 and SAS 9 next quarter) and so far, my GEL 10 class has given me a really interesting view (a geologically view) into climate change and definitely expanded my view on it for sure :) plus, my major advisor and her team sent out weekly emails with job and internship opportunities as well as any helpful workshops or seminars happening!

I’m an Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning major, and my roommates are Biological sciences and wildlife conservation. Glad you understand our struggle with chem haha!

That's awesome! As for your question, I can't definitively say that all environmental majors are more or less competitive. I would say that more niche, specialized majors (like EPAP) tend to be less competitive because the majors people usually apply for are more broad (i.e. nursing, or business). That is a great question to ask a tour guide at UC Davis during a tour though.
I'm a sophomore at Davis too and this just popped up... ah the nostalgia of the dorms :) hope you're finding your freshman year not too bad! Also you're like unnecessarily pretty like it's unfair how does one not get finals week stress acne and eye bags
uc davis provides lots of on campus housing for freshman, so you shouldn't worry too much about not getting a room. there isn't specific housing for international students, to my knowledge.

is it hard to get a 3.5+ gpa at davis? i’ve heard that passing the classes are manageable but it’s hard to actually do well. i’m planning to major in biochem or microbiology so i’m a little scared hahaha
it definitely takes some adjusting to be able to succeed, but once you settle in and find what works best for you and utilize campus resources, you can definitely do well!

i'm from sacramento so i'm not the expert on this topic, unfortunately :( i know a lot of students fly back to LA or drive, but everyone is different

You can definitely study in other study halls, even if you don't live there! I did a lot when I was a freshman :)
