This would be cool if it was a one time purchase. But the limitations and subscription cost ruin what could have been a great product

Could you recommend something better without the subscription???

I totally agree with you. The 300 free minutes aren't enough. The subscription cost on top of that is not good.

I agree with you. Other programs are better at this. The 18 dollars a month subscription fee is a turn-off!

i think there can just be an app that does this same trick, no need for an extra device.

Sorry this turned into such a wall of text, but…. Caffeine… 😂 I just ordered Plaud on Amazon.
      Why?
Why Plaud instead of my phone or iPad?
Anytime I'm moving, and esp. when on a walk, bike ride, or driving, I always get flooded with ideas / remember things I need to do, get business ideas, take care of, etc. etc.
So, I pull out my phone, maybe capture the idea, but usually not; usually instead I get distracted by a notification, pop-up, etc.
EverNote is my digital brain / notepad.
So; I go to launch Evernote on my phone; maybe I succeed in opening EverNote, maybe it opens quickly, maybe it takes 15 seconds.
Maybe EverNote hasn't synced lately, so I have to exit / force quit, re-launch, wait for it to sync, THEN find the note again where i was going to type my ideas.
OK, I can't find the note I was going to type into...wait... did I already create a note, or did I just THINK about creating a note for this topic?
And wait again... don't I already have ANOTHER duplicate note about this topic from X months / years ago?
Knowing my ADHD brain, probably.... lets go search!.......
I'll spare you the rest of the boring details but that should give you the gist of it. What SHOULD be a simple, frictionless action; pulling the supercomputer connected to all the worlds knowledge out of my pocket & jotting down a short idea, instead turns into a black hole of distraction, notifications, etc. Sometimes I'm successful in jotting down my idea, very often not. It's a gamble.
I'm HOPING that with the Plaud, my life will instead look like this:
On a walk, enjoying the scenery & sunshine.
      Have an idea.
Pull out plaud, press & hold button for 1-2 seconds.
Wait for & ensure Recording LED light comes on.
Say what I have to say,
Put plaud back into my pocket.
      Done. (I HOPE!!!!!)

@@drjones762 I think for your use case it will be perfect. What I like about it is exactly that: how easy it is to just hit a button and record then have everything organized in the app to review later.

Can you not have and pay for the ai function and just have the audio recordings for primary usage? More precisely recording phone calls

I've pre-ordered the Limitless pendant for this use case, and am currently trying their Mac app as well - it does a decent job of summarizing conversations/meetings - would be interested in your comparison and thoughts.

Yes you can BUT only if you are running a zoom or Meets for example. The value of the Plaud Note is that it transcribes for 1) physical meetings 2) phone calls 3) video chats. Thats the unique value proposition.

You didn't mention anything about getting everyone's permission to be recorded. This is an illegal eavesdropping device without that. It doesn't need to be a hardware device either... unless they are just trying to bypass app store regulations on apps that do illegal things - like the aforementioned. HARD PASS if you don't want to be seen as a creep at best or get sued into oblivion at worst. (a lot of AI products are circumventing the law in bad faith by immediately translating the original recording/document/art into a different form then using that to generate from). It looks similar to recording devices that can be stuck to the underside of desks at work or between books in the home. There are far more useful and legal AI tools to do this WITH PERMISSION.

The warning is given to you by Plaud when opening the app and setting up. Plus, depends on your state. Texas is not a 2 party state. I can record without anyone’s permission. What really bugs me is the fact we are being recorded by street cameras, businesses cameras, gosh even our phone take our data and sells it. No need to consent there, right? Food for thought
