When I auto focus I one shot it and film, then I stop then 1 stop again so it's cool for me if I buy this lens cause I never auto focus while recording, if I do focus while recording I do it manually, nice video
Its been noted by multiple people, the CANON version is rated less favorably then the NIKON version. If you are considering this lens, make sure you get test photos from the version of camera you have. Maybe you'll find it acceptable onthe nikon but not on the canon.
But for the price, 50$, you really cant complain at all. Its for people looking to dip there toe and expirement with a low aperture lens for a small price. After that, maybe youll invest in a more expensive version that is around double to triple the price
I just got this now(5 yr gap)😆,the lens flare on mine is different than your unit,it is more like a donut shaped flare on mine on lights,still not tried under the sunlight😅

For full manual focus override just use the back focus button in the camera!!

Thanks for the vid! How do you think the Yongnuo would do for desktop video. Shooting TH-cam or instructional videos like a webcam, using a T4i / 650D with. Capture card? Would it be OK for that?
at it's current price in Jan. 2022. the canon STM is only $25-30 more (about $125 on amazon). i just got this yongnuo for my T5i and M50-( with adapter). i kinda wish i got the STM. i realized the price difference too late. but happy to finally have lens with a wider aperture. i only had the kits lenses.

I have a question, is it possible to manually change the aperture? I want to buy it so I cant use it with an Iphone (beastcage pro and DOF mk2 adapter), but I can´t change the aperture on the IPhone.

I followed the link but it is the older one or the one for Nikon. It doesn’t look anything like the one you have. Only partial metal back and I have both Canon and Yongnuo original 50mm lenses. Do they all have red on them, numbers and letters or is yours a demo? Thanks!

Just found it on B&H for $89.00! Might as well buy the real thing! Only saving a few bucks and I almost destroyed my Canon with the 35 mm Yongnuo. I took it out of the box and put it on my camera. It never took one photo and I couldn’t get it off. I let it sit overnight and thankfully it released! I think I will stay away. Thanks for a great review! Love the comparison pics!

TbonesTech About 5 months ago I decided to try the 50 mm for Nikon and the 35mm for my Canon. I bought a Nikon to see the differences between the two. I have been shooting for about 5 years. Anyway, I got the delivery. Excited, I immediately took it out of the box and everything looked great. Put it on my Canon and it was a little snug but so was my 24mm pancake lens. So, I look at the lcd screen and it was black. I made sure I had turned it on and I pressed the shutter button. Nothing! So, I tried to take it off and it wouldn’t budge! I was nervous and just hoping it would come off so I didn’t destroy my Canon. I tried and tried but it wouldn’t budge. I was then pissed! So, I let it sit overnight and the next day it came off. I sent it right back!!! I didn’t care for the Nikon 50mm either. The older one worked great. $90 plus tax is about $30 cheaper than the original Canon 50mm STM so I will just go with that. Do you truly believe the new Yongnuo is sharper than the Canon? Thanks!!!

noise no.matters ...because lavier microphone...don't record it...and almost we record video and add music on that..
My 18-55 and 55-250 makes much much more voice so It's no problem to me xD

finally someone else made a video about this lens. i'm totally going to buy the upgraded one. the mark i lasted me a long time without breaking on me. as. looks like this was built a bit better and i guess YM really wants to start getting into the market more cause even the 14mm lens isn't even bad either. love that YM is trying to make their lens bette. the new red line series lens you can tell Ym has been working hard. can't wait till i get my hands on this lens.

Awesome do you mostly use it for video or photography
paid review. do not works with my 77d and phase autofocus. back-focusing all the time. works ok only with live view. 1 0.3 firmware update from the yongnuo doesn't fix the problem. 1.8 aperture is not usable due to softness.
