    Bee Gees started in the 60's. Barry is in the world book of guinness for songs written. He the oldest of 4 brothers. They are all legendary musicians.

    The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988.
    The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born.
    All 4 brothers are just natural musical talents. All of them dropped out of high school in their early teens and none of them could read or write music. All their compositions were created completely organically.
    Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' (and was also actually the first album on which their logo was introduced).
    From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too th-cam.com/video/7niXSh7vWRI/w-d-xo.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: th-cam.com/video/WH_j90fCIk4/w-d-xo.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out th-cam.com/video/vfHUS5Mf00Q/w-d-xo.html. From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: th-cam.com/video/MT9vRHSWNbk/w-d-xo.html. From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you th-cam.com/video/CA4CInDnTk8/w-d-xo.html. And from the 1990's the simple song Blue Island live in an accoustic version: th-cam.com/video/162GlAEpfrY/w-d-xo.html.

    BeeGees have a very distinct sound. Their voices are unique and harmonies were off the charts. They all have incredible vocal range. They wrote and sang over a thousand songs and never had a bad song ever. They are three brothers Barry the eldest in the middle and Robin and Mo were twins. Robin clean shaven and Mo with the beard. Unfortunately the twins are no longer with us and Barry is now 76 years old. Their music will live on forever. You need all 3 together to get the complete BeeGees sound. They all took turns at lead at different times. When Mo passed away in 2003 the Beegees effectively retired. Barry and Robin still performed solo occassionally until Robin passed in 2012. Their younger brother Andy who passed away very young just as he was about to join the BeeGees was also a solo artist. He passed away in 1988 at the age of 30.

    The beat of this song was matched to Barry's heartbeat. CPR requires 100 chest compressions per minute and this songs beat is used in many CPR classes because it's 100 beats per minute. Pretty amazing that these brothers incorporated that into a song so it could potentially save a life.

    • @Zlata1313
      @Zlata1313 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's purely an ironic coincidence that the song's beat is appropriate for CPR. They didn't incorporate anything when they wrote it and it had nothing to do with Barry's heartbeat. 100 is the upper max of a resting heartbeat and I doubt that his was that high.

    • @kathieovercash8414
      @kathieovercash8414 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Zlata1313 I saw an interview with the brothers where they themselves said they measured Barry's heartbeat for this song. His heartbeat was 103 beats per minute. You might want to do more research before you correct someone.

    This song is one of five Bee Gees songs in the soundtrack for the movie “Saturday Night Fever”, staring a very young John Travolta. Like the film, the song is about much more than dancing and having a good time. It deals with struggle and aspiration; making your way in the world even after you've been kicked around. John Travolta's character in the movie is a young man working a dead-end job who feels alienated by his parents. Dancing is his form of expression, and weekends are his time to let loose.
    You might enjoy seeing how the song was used in the opening scene of the moving playing Stayin’ Alive with John Travolta strutting down the street in NYC. th-cam.com/video/XfwQ_7xqO7Y/w-d-xo.html
    When asked the meaning of the song, Robin Gibb commented that the lyrics are “actually quite… serious”. The lyrics are based on the struggle to survive in New York City. This not only applies to the singer himself but also ‘brothers’ and ‘mothers’, i.e., the many people trying to ‘stay alive’, as in make ends meet in the Big Apple. Considering that ‘the city breaks and shakes people’, the implication is that doing so is not an easy task. In the second verse of the song, the guy talks about being “a dancing man”. Dancing takes away his problems.
    To add another layer of depth to the meaning of “Stayin’ Alive”, the song’s beat is based on the human heartbeat, coming in around 120 beats per minute. In 2013 the American Heart Association shared that in the case of an emergency involving an unresponsive person, perform chest compressions to the beat of the song.
