    That was a good check on a car with no fault codes, nice explanation on why you see higher air flow on a diesel than a petrol. No power due to a choked air filter, nice find.

    Nice and simple, no spanners needed.

    I'm only 4 mins in... I like the thought process. Good call on questioning the customer further, this does eliminate the MAF or IAT, as you stated. Nice to shorten the code list.....
    Continuing on....

      Interesting info regarding the diesiels. As you're probably aware, we in the states don't have as many diesels as you do there. Even though I have done work on a variety of diesels, I am more well versed on petrol/gasoline driven vehicles. I appreciate the in depth coverage. You make it easy to understand (once you get passed the accent. 😅😂😂 just kidding). Thanks Dave! 😊🤗🤗
      Oh I enjoyed the use of EricO's line "giving it the beans". 😉😉

      So glad you enjoyed it cuba. I know my accent can appear strong tho i sometimes deliberately adf in some Norn Ireland slang which only locals may understand. Give it the Beans - Keep her Lit, cheers dave

    Dave I have the same car, has big miles. It is sooting the dpf (and cat). I have noticed that if the Intercooler is disconnected it basically dies; is this normal? Could the intercooler be so blocked it need the air pressure of the turbo to run? or is this normal in the M9R engine? Let me know if you can. Fantastic video, learned a lot. CHEERS ;-)

    Your point about checking the simple and basics first Dave is well taken. Would be interesting to see a side by side before and after graphs of the mass air as the RPM increases under load. Would the restriction cause a linear error in MAF or exponential as RPM increases ??? Buggerized MAF figures reek havoc on the calc load as you well know...spoiling the broth! Great Vid Dave. Cheers Pal

    • @davesterl
      @davesterl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes ian absolutely. The before and after would have been a lot better on a test drive as the symptoms were on load. But, i have to press on as im sure you appreciate. Added the wee explanation bit in this morning, cheers dave

    Just goes to show , sometimes, back to basics , technology helps to point using the right direction , a case of vehicle strangulation if ever there was , no air, can't breath , just like a diver, let's hope the customer follows your advice, full service, and another customer, who will recommend you to all their friends and family, and the other person who wasn't maintaining the car will loose business, good job !!!!!!!

      Absolutely delighted to have Davy dealing with my car. To be honest I really didn't appreciate the amount of miles I was doing a year. I had it serviced 24,000 miles ago and had an oil change in between. Thankfully this is a very valuable lesson for me. Full service getting done and a couple of extra things that Davy discussed with me. It's great to have a car investigated and diagnosed instead of just throwing parts at it. I do and will continue to recommend Davy. A pity you didn't live a bit closer, but hey going by this it is worth the journey. Thanks Dave

    Was made up with this video Dave . I had this a while back on a fella s diesel freelander , he told me it had been serviced but looking at it things didnt seem right . Eventually after a bit of head scratching I thought I wonder what air filter is like and Bingo it was as black as a coal miners hanky . on roadtest it was a different vehicle once we removed the noose from its neck lol . Now and again we touch lucky with a cheap easy fix . Regards Rich

    Thanks for sharing the video Dave. These can sometimes be the hardest complaints to track down, I think It’s easy to over think it, and head down the rabbit hole in the wrong direction, when you just need to check the basics. Lord knows I too often find myself down the rabbit hole, lol. Are those the Hantek breakout leads? If so, do you like them? I have some of those on my amazon tool list. I can’t decide if I want to get those or spring for the fancy kit from AESWave. Anyhow, keep the videos coming 🤓
