The pigtail girl with the kimono is doing the dance of Platinum Disco, 3rd OP of Nisemonogatari from Monogatari Series. Monogatari is great entertainment, but have many caveat: there are some scenes that you don't want your family to know you watched, the JP version is vastly superior to any dub, there are a ton of writings in japanese inside the scenes, even as 3-frames insert in the scenes, and they add so much, the story depends heavily on the words (for example in the arc Hitagi Crab the word "omoi" that can mean both memories and heavy in japanese) and there are many references to japanese culture, manga, anime etc so it's good the first time, after learning more of the culture it's great, the third time it's awesome and so on. For me Monogatari is a 4/5 difficulty anime, especially as non-japanese speakers.
Monogatari is a mystery series that's divided up into smaller arcs (generally ~5 episodes in legth), where characters have to face their own personalities, problems, feelings, etc., by them being manifested into monsters/ghosts/aberrations. Each arc generally ends with one large twist that either recontextualizes the whole arc, or maybe even other arcs that came before it. The series is told non-chronologically, and can be described like a large puzzle that slowly comes together by the end. 90% of this series is dialogue, which is why the creators decided to get really creative with some of the directing decisions, giving the series a very unique feel. Highly recommend.
"If there were any references they went over my head". My brother in Christ, that video was FILLED with references. xD It's practically a love letter to Monogatari fans. I love this series so I'm very happy with it. 😊
Yeah, if you've ever listened to Yoasobi's official EN dub release of Idol, her English is VERY good. Not native-level, but she doesn't struggle with the sounds the same way a lot of Japanese who try to speak English do. Monogatari (all of its series under slightly varying names) in the briefest of nutshells is about monsters and the supernatural and one man's journey through that world.
There are about 109 episodes and a trilogy of movies released from 2009 to 2018, with the series still ongoing. The story revolves around the main character, Araragi, and the people around him, as well as various oddities. Bakemonogatari is the starting point for newcomers, regardless of whether they wish to continue with the series or not, as it is undoubtedly a classic masterpiece.
Well for the season. This is the ending song for Season 10 of Monogatari would say best use the LN order if you were to watch the series since the only reason the anime was a different order was due to production issues/delays.
I think there are 115 Episodes and 3 movies (not counting the recap episodes) after the current season ends. Monogatari is very good but dialouge heavy. Not saying dialouge heavy series are bad but it could be a turn-off for some, like the ecchi parts in it. I would still recommand to watch it (or if you want to, to read the LN).
