Dendrobium orchids are happy growing in cooler conditions than moth orchids and will tolerate a shadier position. They need watering and feeding regularly to flower well and will need repotting once the roots fill the current pot. As they age, small shoots with roots may appear on the stems and these can be removed and potted separately in fresh potting compost. They can then be grown on until they start to flower. They need to be cool and dry during the winter to encourage flower development
